Voting is a privilege and a responsibility, so voters should familiarize themselves with the candidates and issues on the ballot in the weeks leading up to Election Day. While such identification is not necessarily a requirement, voters who bring along a driver’s license or state identification card may get in and out of the polling place more quickly than those who do not.

A “Day of Helping Hands” outdoor drive-by food drop will be held on October 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 754 Montauk Highway in Islip. Volunteers will be at tables set up in front of the church doors, which face St. Mark’s Lane, just a couple of feet off Montauk Highway. St. Mark’s Rector, The Very Reverend Richard E. Simpson, is quick to point out that this is a nonsectarian event. “We want to expand the community outreach. It doesn’t matter if you’re a parishioner or not. It doesn’t matter if you’re Episcopalian or not.
