The Islip Middle School C.A.R.E. Club recently concluded its Thanksgiving food drive. An abundance of stuffing mixes, canned food items, mashed potatoes, coffee, juices and “all the trimmings” for a holiday meal were received
from district community donations. Once the food was boxed up, members of the custodial, buildings and grounds staff delivered the food to a local food pantry to bring comfort to families this holiday season.
The C.A.R.E. Club, which stands for compassion, attitude, responsibility and empathy, wishes to thank student families, staff members and administration for their heartfelt support.

Student members of the Islip High World Language Honor Society, National Honor Society, and Athletes Helping Athletes worked to make the holidays a little brighter for local families in need this year. Under the direction of advisers Sarah Ito (WLHS), Kerri Schmalacker (WLHS), Megan Schierhorst (NHS), Danielle Martello (AHA) and Patti Whitehouse (AHA), the students collected
donations from fellow students, faculty, and staff members to provide toys, socks, underwear and diapers for area homeless outreach programs. In addition, the English Honor Society, under the direction of adviser Barbara Wagner, collected books for the drive. On Dec. 13, Christine Fellini and Timothy Saliani from the Department of Social Services retrieved the donations, which will be
