Alone in a Bowl: My Saga It’s been days, and still no sign of my human. No light on in the kitchen. No food pellet delivery at dinnertime. No – dare I say it – bath time. Nothing. Where did she go? Slomins even donated a full ice cream truck that kept guests cool and satisfied their sweet tooth. The weather for the event was perfect, calm and warm, and the great turnout enabled the Lions Club to raise thousands of dollars to be donated to the food panties and soup kitchens. this fundraiser include: Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church (West Islip), Christ Episcopal Church (Babylon Village) – Nourish Babylon, Cross of Christ Lutheran Church (Babylon Village), United Methodist Church of Babylon, First Presbyterian Church of Babylon, First Baptist Church of Babylon and Mercy Inn (Wyandanch). Frank Bosak and Maurice Azzopardi are the chairmen for this event. Key members of the committee include Bob Meyer, Paul Cannella, Eric Egan, and John Biondo, along with 20+ other volunteer members that work very hard to make this event a success.

On Friday, July 24th, the Babylon Lions Club hosted their 3rd Annual Summer BBQ for Hunger to raise money for eight local food pantries. Over 300 people enjoyed the beautiful weather, delicious food and entertainment at the Gilbert C. Hanse Municipal Pool on the Great South Bay. Former Mayor Hanse was a charter member of the Babylon Lions Club over 85 years ago, and the Village Pool was renamed for him in 1982.
