More than 100 colleges, universities and academic institutions were represented at the event, which is now in its eighth successful year. Then, for a minimum $10 donation, fans can receive a “Rebuilding Long Island Shore to Shore” t-shirt, with all proceeds benefitting United Way of Long Island’s partner program with Bethpage to support Long Island families affected by Hurricane Sandy. The Bethpage Air Show will be held Memorial Day weekend 2013 at Jones Beach State Park, Wantagh, NY, on Saturday, May 25th, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, May 26th, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Air Show is free to the public, but the standard $10 vehicle use fee will be collected each day upon entry to the State Park. For 2013 NYS Empire Passport holders, there is no vehicle use fee charge. For those looking to take public transportation to the air show, NICE Bus has increased its summer service and will run the n88 out of the Freeport LIRR station to Jones Beach every half hour from 8:35 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Also, the newly reinstated N87 out of the Hicksville LIRR station, will run hourly to Jones Beach on Saturday and Sunday, from 9:20 a.m. until 7:20 p.m. Both routes will make stops at Jones Beach’s two Bathhouses and the Central Mall. The cash one way fare is $2.25, Metro Card $2.50. For more information visit www.nicebus.com. For $65, the Empire Passport permits unlimited vehicle access to most facilities operated by the New York State Office of Parks,
Recreation and Historic Preservation and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Margaret Westhoff traveled from Mastic Beach to be reinvigorated. She said, “I’m going to meditate, do yoga, and then get a facial.” For a fee of $50, participants elected to do one individual treatment and two group therapies. Athletic Achievements The members of Deer Park School District’s athletic teams are wellrounded student-athletes who excel in the classroom and work hard on the playing field. As a result of this commitment, six varsity squads, including girls basketball, swimming and diving, girls track, boys track, cheerleading CARD SHOW FUNDRAISER - Deer Park Fire Dept. Engine Co. 2 enjoyed and and kickline, were named thanks former NY Met & Yankee Doc Gooden. And a special “Thank You” to Jim Ryan New York State Scholarof JPs Sports Promotions for helping Engine Co. 2 with their fundraiser on April 28th Athlete teams. Night At The Museum
The student government at John F. Kennedy Intermediate School in Deer Park hosted a sophisticated and educational event, A Night At The Wax Museum. Each representative in the club selected a
celebrity, historian or athletic figure that inspires them and conducted research through literary, video and photo resources. At the exhibit, students got into character by dressing up as their figures and positioned themselves
in display showcases. Guests toured the hallways, visiting the live student attractions, and read the informative presentations, which served as the backdrop for the museum.

Boys varsity basketball claimed the League IV championship and were led by coach John McCaffrey, who was named the League IV Coach of the Year. More success on the court was achieved by the girls varsity basketball team, who qualified for the Class AA playoffs.
Academic Exploration Each spring, Deer Park High School transforms into a forum for educational advancement during the district’s Annual College Fair. More than 100 colleges, universities and academic institutions were represented at the event, which is now in its eighth successful year.
Students and parents were also able to connect with SAT/ACT test prep centers and financial aid organizations, all critical resources when making educational plans. The district’s goal is to expose students of all ages to the options higher education holds and instill
the message that it’s never too early or too late to start the college process. To meet students’ diverse needs, a variety of representatives were available to students from top-tier universities, vocational training schools and military service academies.
