as you choose to pursue them. And, contrary to popular belief, they don’t even need to be set on January 1st. Any day, any time, no expiration needed to accomplish your everchanging goals. Imagine that. January, for me, has always been somewhat of a time for hibernation – of settling in, catching up on some reading (that pile of Rolling Stone Magazines just keeps on growing), TV viewing (there was a reason I subscribed to Netflix all those months ago, wasn’t there?), movies (because we all know what quality cinema is released in the

Have we started the intense diet/ exercise regimens, cleaned our homes from top to bottom, blown through our many “To Do” lists and set out on our quest for the meaning of life? No? Too soon? Still easing into it? It’s okay, take your time. There are still eleven and a half months remaining to whip everything into shape – your body, home, mind and beyond – so no worries. Those resolutions will be there for as long

Supervisor Martinez presented each player with an official certificate from the Town to commemorate their achievements. Also in attendance were members of the Babylon Village Board, Coach Rick Punzone and Babylon High School Athletic Director Michael DeJoseph. The Babylon High School Panthers’ 2013 season was a successful one in which they won the Long Island Division IV and Suffolk County Division IV Championships. The team was also named 2013 Rutgers Cup Champions, which recognizes the most outstanding team in Suffolk County, for the second consecutive year. Six of the team’s players were named to the All-County Team and three were named to All-Division. Senior Jake Carlock was named Division IV Player of the Year and Rob Burnett Suffolk Defensive Player of the Year, in addition to being named to 1st Team All Long Island. In addition to their on-field successes, the Babylon Panthers also received the 2013 New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Scholar Athlete Team Award with a Grade Point Average of over 90 for the team.

Poets Of Babylon Thanks to a grant from the Babylon Village Arts Council, five Babylon High School students received funding to attend The Festival Within, a day-long poetry event at the Walt Whitman Birthplace in South Huntington, held in early November. About 130 people attended all or part of the event. The festival featured readings, roundtable discussions and small-group sessions with nine nationallyknown and –honored poets: Paul Muldoon, David Lehman, Denise Duhamel, Tom Sleigh, Stacey Waite, Major Jackson, Kim Addonizio, Sally Wen
