Deer Park High School held its 62nd annual National Honor Society induction ceremony on Nov. 13, welcoming 81 new members to the prestigious organization. Class of 2024 valedictorian Jordan Trohan led the pledge of allegiance, NHS President Muhsin Maqsood administered the society’s pledge to the inductees, and Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer and Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly were on hand to congratulate the new members. “We congratulate and welcome these new members, who bring new energy in support of our continuing work as leaders in the Deer Park community,” NHS adviser Seth Margolin said. Kennedy Intermediate School recently began a drive for Ronald McDonald House, a charity that houses families who have children that are ill and need to stay in the hospital. Families are able to stay close to their children at minimal or no cost. JFK’s drive, led by fifth-grade teacher Eileen Tuozzo, will last for the remainder of the school year, helping to fund the Ronald McDonald House stay for families by collecting pop tabs from soup and soda cans.
