32 Students Inducted Into Math And Science Honor Societies Following last winter’s inaugural ceremony, Deer Park High School inducted 32 juniors and seniors to the National Math and Science Honor Societies on Nov. 25 in front of their proud families. Acceptance into either honor society requires an overall grade point average of 85 or higher, and a contentspecific GPA in either math or science of 90 or higher. The school’s women’s choir performed the national anthem and pledge of allegiance at the event, held in the school’s auditorium. Speakers included Curriculum Associate for Science and
Technology Alison Branca, Curriculum Associate for Mathematics and Business Christine Gill, Principal Charles Cobb, and advisers Sara DiCandia and Dylan Duprez; and Honor Society Presidents Angela D’Antonio and Sabrina Felipe. The Deer Park Lions Club recently held their annual Christmas Party for the blind on Sunday, December 8th at the Knights of Columbus Father Kayser Hall in Deer Park. 48 visually impaired people accompanied by
their guardians totaled approximately 98 people. Guests were served appetizers, salad, pasta faglioli, a delicious prime rib dinner with all the trimmings, and dessert. Santa Claus came for a visit, gifts were given out and

Christmas Party For The Blind there was dance music for their enjoyment. President Gino Batalini gave praise to Frank Sampogna the committee chairman and all the workers for another job well done.
MARCHING FALCONS PERFORM - Deer Park High School’s Marching Falcons participated in the Deer Park Fire Department’s annual holiday parade on Dec. 7. The 125-piece marching band performed seasonal music as they marched from the high school to the firehouse along with several community organizations and other local area fire departments. Heaven Church. Organizer Rachel Conliffe, a veteran herself, invited the students to help set up, decorate and share a meal with men and women who have served the nation.
“Our students were glad to have the opportunity to sit down and talk with the veterans, and show appreciation for their service,” said teacher Laurie Osbern.
