NEW MEMBER INSTALLATION - The Sons and Daughters of Italy in America, Constantino Brumidi Lodge N0. 2211 in Deer Park, recently hosted a New Member Installation Ceremony. The installation took place on their Culture & Heritage Night on Tuesday, October 15th, 2019 at their lodge located at 2075 Deer Park Avenue, Deer Park. The Cemetery of Lost Souls is a grass roots organization that gears up each year to create an elaborate Haunted House on the founder’s property, located at 350 Broadway in Massapequa Park. Every bit of money raised through their annual event (admission, donations, sponsorships, etc.) is given to a chosen charity. They have raised a lot of money over the years in donations alone and have donated to charities such as Autism Speaks, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Ronald McDonald House Charities and Long Island Cares. This year they are bringing the community a new interactive experience with the second Lost Souls Walk-Thru haunt, new rooms, new scares and new thrills! Each event has been going great, with up to hundreds of guests each night! The remaining events will run on October 31 and November 1-2 from 7PM-11:30PM. On Halloween, their event will be kid-friendly! There will be no actors and walk through tours of their haunted house will be given. The chosen charity for 2019 is Melissa’s Wish, a nonprofit organization founded with the purpose of providing short term, nonmedical financial aid in the form of a grant to caregivers who are assisting those afflicted with a serious illness, injury or end of life event. Visitors of this homegrown haunt have only good things to say! Here are some of their reviews:

Fortunately, it can be detected and treated. In fact, women who have a bone density scan have 35 percent fewer hip fractures than those who do not. Students Get A Lesson Students at John F. Kennedy Intermediate School in Deer Park are “energy wise” today, thanks to PSEG Long Island and The National Theatre for Children (NTC). Students enjoyed interacting with the NTC performers during the live Energized Guyz theater performance, which taught them about energy and how to save it. PSEG Long Island brings shows to local schools throughout the year to help kids learn at a young age how and why it is important to save energy. John F. Kennedy’s students are among the 40,000 students in the Rockaways and Long Island to see the Conservation Caper this fall. This is the sixth season the program has been offered by PSEG Long Island to area schools free of charge. From September through December, kindergarten through sixth-grade students at 100 schools will be entertained
by the show. The Conservation Caper focuses on four key takeaways and is meant to spark conversations in the classroom on energy efficiency. During the twenty-minute performance, students learn: • What energy is; • The uses of energy; • How energy is wasted; and • Ways to conserve energy. In to live performances, the program includes student playbooks (print and online versions), teacher guides, e-books and digital games and activities that align with the important concepts outlined in the live shows. PSEG Long Island sponsors every aspect of the program, making the performances and materials a cost-free supplement to lessons in science, literacy and the arts.
