On Saturday, October 7, 2023, the Deer Park John Quincy Adams Elementary PFC (aka PTA) hosted its first-ever Backto-School Color Run FUNdraiser at the school. Long Island Harley Owners Group Recognized For Their Service To The Community Legislator Steven J. Flotteron honored Director Pat O’Hara and Road Captain Joe Beige with The Long Island Harley Owners Group (LI HOG) Chapter # 3182 for all they have done for surrounding communities over the past 38 years at their Annual Picnic at Overlook Beach in Babylon. LI HOG was formed in October, 1985 and is an owners group authorized by Harley Davidson and sponsored by local dealer, Eastern Harley Davidson. LI HOG ran its first toy run for the benefit of the Little Flower Children Residence is Wading River on December 21, 1985. Since that first toy run they have organized and run this toy drive annually. It is believed to be the oldest and longest continuously run toy drive on Long Island. In addition, for the past 15 years the members of LI HOG have raised money and made donations to purchase items for the residents of the Long Island State Veterans Home in Stony Brook, supplementing benefits not available through the Northport Veterans Association. Items such as socks, batteries, electric shavers, calling cards and movie passes are collected for Veterans in need. Each year, with a motorcycle escort, on the Sunday before Veterans Day the LI HOG delivers van loads of these items to the residents.

Deer Park High School alumna Keryn Shames has been selected for the prestigious Television Academy Foundation Fall Internship Program. She is one of just nine students chosen by Television Academy members from across the country for the 2023 fall program. The Foundation’s Fall Internship Program provides 13-week, part-time, paid internships at top Hollywood studios and production companies to college students nationwide. Shames, a junior at the University of Southern California (USC) majoring in business of cinematic arts, will be an agency intern this fall in the Los Angeles office of Authentic Talent and Literary Management, a bicoastal talent and literary management company. “I am incredibly grateful to be recognized by such established people within the entertainment industry, [and] I am very excited to have the opportunity to learn all about the entertainment business through this position,” said Shames, who hails from Long Island, New York. “My passion for TV started from watching Full House as a child. I started watching behind-the-scenes footage to learn more about the actors, actresses, production, marketing and everything in between,” continued Shames. “This is where my interest was piqued, and I decided I wanted to be a part of such an influential industry. It has always been a goal of mine to become a member of the Television Academy, so having this opportunity makes me feel like I am one step closer to my goal.” The Internship Program also provides professional development sessions and customized seminars covering personal brandbuilding and navigating the job market ahead for participating students. BACK-TO-SCHOOL COLOR RUN - On Saturday, October 7, 2023, the Deer Park John Quincy Adams Elementary PFC (aka PTA) hosted its first-ever Back-to-School Color Run FUNdraiser at the school.
