Although they do not have a physical cafe yet, since they started in 2016, they have hosted countless “meal events”, primarily at the VFW Hall on Edwards Street in Patchogue. Their meal events are socially engaging events, usually running for about 2.5 hours multiple times a month. They are meant to bring the community together, while serving anyone who attends a fresh healthy meal.This

nonproﬁt is also licensed to offer the FEAST Program. The FEAST Program is a comprehensive health program, which offers in-person classes. FEAST stands for Food Education, Access, Support and Together. “We at Harmony Cafe believe that a healthy life consists of whole foods, whole people and whole communities,” said Rosemarie. “However, many people don’t have access to healthy fresh food, don’t have a strong support system and feel isolated from the community. Unhealthy diets is among some of the key contributors to the dramatic rise in obesity and dietary diseases affecting people in our country today. In order to address these issues, the FEAST Program serves parents or heads or households through our comprehensive 12-week Wellness Program. It is a very successful program!”

On September 17 and 18, 2022, The Bob Feller Act of Valor Award Foundation will host two unique events on Long Island to create awareness for Veteran SuicideLeadingPrevention.fellow soldiers, Veterans and friends, Charles J. Sanders, a Major in the United States Army National Guard and Commander of Southold American Legion Post 803, will hike 22 miles carrying 22 pounds to represent the 22 Veterans who die by suicide each day. Sanders is asking Americans to join him in person or online virtually in memory of our service members who die every day from suicide.

In addition to the walk, Long Island runners will join in unity by running a 5K at Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park in Wading River, NY. The run will engage a new and unique audience to bring additional awareness to this important cause.

Brandon Berkowitz Achieves Eagle Scout Rank

BRANDON BERKOWITZ ACHIEVES EAGLE SCOUT RANK - Brandon Berkowitz, of Deer Park Boy Scout Troop 157, has received the rank of Eagle Scout from the Boy Scouts of America. For his Eagle Scout Project, he built and installed a bench for the Bus Matrons, as they wait for their buses to pick them up at the Deer Park Transportation Department on Lake Avenue in Deer Park. He also planted flowers and an angel statue. From Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts, he has demonstrated what scouting stands for values, dedication, commitment, discipline, and loyalty. Earning such a significant achievement shows the great potential he has as a citizen in his community, in the nation, and in the world. Brandon has received 170 congratulatory certificates and letters from around the world. His Eagle Scout ceremony will be held in October. His parents, Lisa and Sheldon, and his family, and friends are so proud of him. Job well done Brandon!
