Prom is a teenage rite of passage. Prom night provides one more exciting adventure in a school experience that likely started with preschool jitters and will soon culminate with graduates receiving their high school diplomas.

Set An Example By Keeping Calm Prom planning can be stressful. Various details have to come together on the big day. Even though they may appear to be young adults, teens still may have meltdowns or impulse control issues when things don’t go their way. Set an example by reacting to obstacles calmly and finding workarounds.

Prom night planning reaches a fever pitch a few weeks before the big event. A significant amount of time and money are involved in making prom a night to remember. While teens may be focused on fashion and fun, parents may be wondering what they can do to steer their sons and daughters in the right direction. Here are some pointers to consider as families prepare for prom. Set A Budget The pandemic has affected supply chains and has contributed to increased prices on all types of consumer goods, so you may find that prom attire and accessories will cost more this year. Figure out what you can afford to contribute to the prom, and ask your teenager to pitch in. If your child is footing some of the bill, there may be a greater willingness to corral spending. One way to save money is to rent a gown/tuxedo rather than

They have been helping others for 93 years!

Little Flower has proudly adapted to address the unmet needs of those in their community by continuing to develop new programs and services. Their corporate headquarters and Suffolk County campus is still located in Wading River, however they also have a NYC campus, which is their ﬂagship ofﬁce in Brooklyn, along with ten residences across Queens and Long Island for individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities.

“During the pandemic, Little Flower continued to operate without disruption to ensure the safety and well-being of hundreds of children in foster care, youth in residential treatment care, and adults with developmental disabilities. Babylon Community Cares Coalition Rally For Recreation And Prevention Conference

Town of Babylon Cares, the newly founded conglomerate of the Lindenhurst Community Cares Coalition, Copiague Cares, the Deer Park Drug Prevention Coalition, and the Belmont Lake Civic Association, closed the month of April with a three-day Rally for Recreation and Prevention conference. The Rally held Thursday, April 28th, included a guest appearance by former New York Knick Michael Sweetney, who shared his “inspiring journey of loss, hope, and finding the strength to reach out for help when you need it.” The night also included a great array of prizes, music, and fun for all ages. On Saturday, the conference had a full day session with the keynote being a lecture by international speaker Carlton Hall on “Being a Prevention Influencer:

Making Prevention Obvious!” Attendees included parents, adults, law enforcement, members of local faith based organizations, schools, and business owners, who all came together to join the

Summertime Could Be Employment Time For Qualifying Suffolk County Youths Qualifying Suffolk County residents between the ages of 14 and 20 may be able to secure summer employment through the 2022 Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)funded Summer Work Experience Program, according to Suffolk Legislator Tom Donnelly (D-Deer Park) who is making applications available through his district office in Huntington Station. “This program, offered through the Suffolk County Department of Labor, is a wonderful way for County youths to take advantage of their time off from school to earn money to help with their personal or family expenses,” Legislator Donnelly said. According to Legislator

Donnelly, the summer program is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 and will run for seven weeks through Friday, August 19, 2022. Qualifying program participants will be paid $15 per hour and may work up to 25 hours each week. Besides the age qualifications, applicants must meet United States residency requirements and the gross annual income of the participant’s family must not exceed: • $27,180 for a family of one • $36,620 for a family of two • $46,060 for a family of three • $55,500 for a family of four • $64,940 for a family of five • $74,380 for a

Saf-T-Swim Helps Families Splash Into Long Island Summer Safely With Water Safety Acronym S a f - T- S w i m announced a series of water safety tips to help families prepare for a safe, fun summer in and out of the water. The guidelines embody the proud member of the Long Island community’s mission to empower children with life-saving swim skills and dedication to teaching water safety. Bobby Hazen, District Manager of Saf-T-Swim and founder of End Drowning Now, says: “More than 90% of pool drownings happen at home involving young children while a caregiver was present. Swimming lessons,

fencing, locking ladders, proper pool covers, and alarms can help this.
