Seventh- and eighthgrade musicians at Deer Park’s Robert Frost Middle School made some holiday magic on December 10th and 11th, offering a two-day series
of winter concerts that displayed their growing mastery of their voices and instruments. Ensembles in the spotlight included the orchestra, directed by

With more than a decade of donations under its collective belt, Deer Park High School’s annual Wrap and Rap Adopt-ACherub project “adopted” more than 50 youngsters – ranging in age from a few months to teens – this
year, providing needed gifts to be delivered by the school’s social workers. The atmosphere in the high school cafeteria was festive on December 12th as everyone pitched in wrapping and making ornaments, with

Eating the traditional snack, accompanied by applesauce, was preceded by a story about Hanukkah and an explanation of the importance of the menorah in the Jewish holiday celebration. Guided by teachers Joe Bottino, Bobbi Colby and Susan Ricciardelli, students also sang the menorah song “How Many Candles?” and discovered how to spin a dreidel. “We came together as a grade to celebrate Hanukkah,” said Ricciardelli. “It was such a fun time!”
