1ST ANNUAL LINDENHURST VARSITY FOOTBALL PIZZA EATING CONTEST

Spasso Pizzeria held their 1st Annual Pizza Eating Competition with the Lindenhurst Varsity Football team. 15 varsity football players participated in the challenge of eating a whole pie in 10 minutes or less. The players rose to the challenge, resulting in a $500 donation from Spasso's to the Lindenhurst Touch Down Club. Spasso Pizzeria can't wait for next year's competition and would like to congratulate the varsity football team on a great season.

BASKETBALL GAME HONORS MEMORY OF COPIAGUE STUDENT - Copiague School District honored the memory of Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School student Carmyne Payton during the first Carmyne Payton Classic varsity basketball game on Nov. 29. Administrators, teachers, staff and students came together to celebrate the life of Carmyne, who tragically passed away two years while trying out for the varsity basketball team. The Copiague basketball team and coaching staff wore the “Love Big” shirts in his honor as well. Bracelets and snacks were on sale during the event to raise money for scholarships that will be presented to a varsity female and varsity male basketball player. Benefits Of Volunteering Volunteering is a great way for individuals to strengthen their communities, but it also can be a unique way for individuals to improve their own overall happiness. A 2020 study published in the Journal of Happiness Studies examined 70,000 participants, each of whom received

surveys that asked questions regarding their volunteering habits and mental health.The study found that, when compared to those who did not volunteer, people who had volunteered in the previous 12 months were more satisfied with their lives and gave their overall health higher ratings.

The frequency of giving back to one’s community also may affect just how much volunteering affects mental health. Study participants who volunteered at least once per month rated their mental health even higher than those who volunteered but did so infrequently.

LINDENHURST VARSITY FOOTBALL PIZZA EATING CONTEST - Spasso Pizzeria held their 1st Annual Pizza Eating Competition with the Lindenhurst Varsity Football team. 15 varsity football players participated in the challenge of eating a whole pie in 10 minutes or less. The players rose to the challenge, resulting in a $500 donation from Spasso’s to the Lindenhurst Touch Down Club. Spasso Pizzeria can’t wait for next year’s competition and would like to congratulate the varsity football team on a great season.
