The Artist Reception will be held on Saturday, February 7th from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Exhibit hours are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday, February 7th and Saturday February 21st from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Catholic Schools Deliver 2012, the study re-visited with those same students. By 2012 the students were in their midtwenties. The percentage of degree-recipients varied significantly by the type of high school attended, with 31.1 percent of public school sophomores reaching a bachelor’s degree or higher, compared to 61.9 percent of sophomores from Catholic high schools and 57.1 percent of those from other private high schools. The College Degree Is Just The Start Of The Advantages The survey went on to document subsequent advantages of higher salaries and lower unemployment. Students who didn’t seek or attain a degree in the 10 years of the survey faced an unemployment rate of

17 percent in 2012, with an additional 10 percent saying they were out of the labor force entirely (i.e., not looking for work). By contrast, only 4 percent of students who were able to attain a bachelor’s degree said they were unemployed. The students who completed their degree programs also had higher incomes. ADVANTAGES OF LASER SURGERY QUESTION: What are the advantages of laser dental surgery? ANSWER: There is very little or no bleeding, which enables the surgeon to have a dry operating site and excellent visibility. The result is a shorter and less traumatic procedure. Both blood vessels and lymphatics are sealed as they are cut resulting in much reduced post operative swelling. The surgeon experiences amazing control and precision so that optimal results are achieved. Pain is reduced or entirely eliminated. This is probably due to the sealing of nerve fibers as the laser vaporizes, coagulates, or cuts. Mechanical trauma is lessened and even normal scarring is greatly reduced. Sutures are very rarely needed because of better tissue position, less bleeding and reduced trauma. Lasers also reduce bacterial counts and create a more sterile operating field. Charitable Collection Students at Park Avenue Memorial Elementary School, in the Amityville School District, recently conducted a toy drive to benefit two nonprofits: Matthew’s Wish and Beautiful Me. Through the month of December, students collected new, unwrapped toys by placing donation boxes in the school’s lobby. Once the toys were collected, some went to help fill an 18-wheeler that delivered the toys to Cohen’s Children’s Hospital in New Hyde Park. Others went to the Hance Family Foundation’s “Beautiful Me” project. Matthew’s Wish is a

Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck announced that it is once again offering its weekend respite program for the first five months of 2015, transforming the 60-plus year-old camp into a yearround destination for children and young adults with disabilities. Children and young adults up to the age of 21 arrive on Friday evening and leave on Sunday afternoon. There is a new theme each weekend. Campers can participate

in various activities, including baking, arts and crafts, games, and watching movies. The weekends available are as follows: January 23rd-25th; February 13th15th; February 27th-March 1st; March 6th-8th; March 20th-22nd; April 10th12th; April 24th-26th; May 8th-10th; and May 22nd-24th. The cost of each weekend (Friday to Sunday) is $350. The camp requires a $50 deposit per session which
