The Babylon Little League will hold its 5th annual Hits for Hunger event with the boys and girls of the league, ages 5-12, on Friday, October 18, from 6 – 9 p.m. at the Locust Ave. fields to raise funds and food donations for the local community. The Charity of the Month for October is: The Cemetery of Lost Souls (lostsoulsli.com) Benefitting Melissa’s Wish The Cemetery of Lost Souls is a grass roots organization that gears up each year to create an elaborate Haunted House on the founder’s property, located at 350 Broadway in Massapequa Park. Every bit of money raised through their annual e v e n t (admission, donations, sponsorships, etc.) is given to a chosen charity. They have raised a lot of money over the years in donations alone and have donated to charities such as Autism Speaks, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Ronald McDonald House Charities and Long Island Cares. This year they will bring the community a new interactive experience with the second Lost Souls Walk-Thru haunt, new rooms, new scares and new thrills! The event will run on October 18-19, 25-26, 31 and November 1-2 from 7PM-11:30PM. The chosen charity for 2019 is Melissa’s Wish, a non-profit organization founded with the purpose of providing short term, non-medical financial aid in the form of a grant to caregivers who are assisting those afflicted with a serious illness, injury or end of life event. You can become involved with the Cemetery of Lost Souls in many ways. They are actively looking for volunteers in the following areas: Digital Marketing (to help with social media marketing), Scare Team Members (actors to help put on the event), Security (watching over the event and making sure all guests are safe), and Bake Team Members (to donate baked

goods to sell at some of the events). Volunteers must be 16 years of age and volunteer time can count towards community service hours! The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA), together with the Town of Babylon, will be hosting an “Alzheimer’s Walk in the Park” on Saturday, October 19th, from 10 am to 1 pm (rain date October 20th). The event will take place at the AFA-Town of Babylon Respite Care Relief Park (200 East Sunrise Highway, Lindenhurst), which serves residents with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers. Proceeds raised from the event will support Long Islanders living with Alzheimer’s disease. Individuals of all ages are invited to take part in the walk to raise Alzheimer’s awareness and support local families affected by Alzheimer’s disease. The family-friendly event will also feature health and wellness activities, music, entertainment, children’s activities and refreshments. Free, confidential memory and hearing screenings will also be offered.

“More than 50,000 Long Island families are living with Alzheimer’s disease, and this event is all about bringing people together to support them. Each person who participates in the walk will be making a difference,” said Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr., AFA’s president and CEO. “We invite everyone to walk with us on October 19th and enjoy a fun-filled day of activities, all while helping Long Islanders living with Alzheimer’s disease.” Babylon Town Clerk Gerry Compitello, said, “On behalf of the Babylon Town Board, I encourage our residents to come be a part of this great event. Whether you or a loved one have dealt with Alzheimer’s firsthand or not, it is a great opportunity to support your friends, neighbors and other members of our community who do. a great day.” The Respite Care Relief Park is the first of its kind in the United States. Located next to Babylon Town Hall, it is a peaceful, scenic, dementia-friendly place where caregivers can go to take a break and enjoy the outdoors, as well as feel comfortable bringing a loved one with Alzheimer’s or another dementiarelated illness. The Park includes educational information about dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, along with benches, a brick walkway, a gazebo and landscaping. Docking stations are also available where people can plug in phones to play music, which often aids in memory and brain stimulation. Registration for the walk is $15 per person or $25 per family. Babylon Village Arts Council

Fall has arrived and with that Babylon Village Aerts Council, a local not-for profit organization, will present an array of free cultural events tool Long Island residents during October. In partnership with the Friends of the Babylon Library , BVAC will present its first Sunday Classical Music event featuring David Glukh with Gennady Gutkin on Sunday, October 20 at the Babylon Library located at 24 South Carll Ave. David Glukh will present an afternoon of Classical music performed on his signature piccolo trumpet accompanied by Gennady Gutkin on piano. Since his graduation from The Juilliard School in May 2000, David Glukh has performed many solo and ensemble engagements throughout the world. David Glukh was born in Moscow in 1975 where he attended the Gnessin School of MusicI. In1990 he immigrated to Israel where he spent the following three years in the

Thelma Yellin High School for the Arts. He later served in the Army Orchestra from 1993 to 1996. The music begins at 2. BVAC’s PLAY IT FORWARD fundraiser will be held on Sunday, Dec. 1 for the 2pm matinee production of ‘Miracle on 34th Street” at the Argyle Theater. Tickets are on sale now at $64.
