featured TOB Supervisor Rich Schaffer as he kicked off the event with an opening ceremony at the Babylon Town Hall in Lindenhurst, which also featured comments by

New York Attorney General Letitia James. All Proceeds from event will go to the Wounded Warrior Project and to Help Injured Veterans.

Located in Southaven County Park in Brookhaven (between exits 57 & 58 off Route 27 or exit 67 off the LIE) is the home of Long Island Live Steamers, a 501(c)3 nonproﬁt organization. They operate for the education and enjoyment of the public, and to preserve the history and wonderment of the glory days of railroading. All of their members are volunteers and very few of them are professional machinists, most of them are hobbyists. The uniting interest for them lies in steam power, railroad and having fun! The county has made about 8.5 acres of land available for them, which their railroad operates on. In fulﬁllment of the public trust use of park land, Long Island Live Steamers hosts visitor rides on our Public Run Days typically scheduled for the second and last Sundays of each month from the middle of May through the end of October. The hours of operation during a public run day are 10:30AM-3PM. There is no charge for rides on Run Days, however they accept donations of any size. Their operation is solely funded by donations. Although thousands of visitors enjoy visiting and riding on their railroad every year, most Long Islanders have either never heard of this organization, or if they have, have yet to visit them on one of their Public Run Days. Long Island Live Steamers may well be the best kept secret on Long Island. Almost everything you will see, ride on, or otherwise enjoy during your visit to Long Island Live Steamers was built, delivered, installed and maintained by their members.

Besides their ground track, they also have a dual gauge high line which features an elevated track, which runs through the forest. Rider Rules: For the Ground Line track, kids must be able to walk on their own in order to ride. For The high line track, riders must be at least 40” Tall to ride. Looking to host a birthday party at LI Live Steamers? You can! Reservations must be made to reserve a birthday party with the LI Live Steamers, however there is no limit to how many people can attend. Attendees can bring their own food and/ or cake (pizza parties are popular) and the organization provides picnic tables, that when sitting at you will have a great view of the action as multiple trains pass by! The food supply at food banks historically drops off in summertime. Coupled with the pandemic and its after-effects, replenishing the diminishing food supply at this time is even more urgent. Enter Power to Feed Long Island – a partnership between Island Harvest Food Bank and PSEG Long Island to rally the Long Island community to donate food to support neighbors facing food insecurity. Continuing through the end of September, there will be largescale collection drives at several local supermarkets, with a goal of restocking warehouse shelves with the equivalent of 21,000 nutritious meals (for 2021). At all locations, there will be a contactless drive-thru area, as well as collection bins, set up

(no glass containers please) Household essentials: Toilet paper, paper towels, hand sanitizer, laundry detergent and dish soap.

Personal care items: Toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, soap, shampoo, conditioner, feminine care products and shaving products, antibacterial wipes and washcloths. Baby care items: Diapers, wipes, formula, creams, ointments and baby wash.
