Babylon Village Arts Council has been planning many community events for the upcoming Spring months. On Saturday, May 15, BVAC will present its 13th annual outdoor Art Exhibit entitled ‘Art by the Falls’, featuring many local artists. On Saturday, June 5 BVAC has partnered with the Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce to present its 2nd “Chalk-A-Walk’ from 11-3.

St. Patrick’s Division 2 of Suffolk County, NY installation of officers took place on Sunday, April 18 th at their Hibernian Hall in Babylon. The installation was initially set for this past January but due to COVID-19 precautions the installation was postponed to a safer date. The installation was attended by St. Patrick’s Division 2 President, Jim Killen and Vice
President, Dennis Harty (who is the Junior Boys coordinator). Also in attendance was Suffolk County, NY President, Chris Thompson; Suffolk County. NY immediate past President, Jerry Belmont; Suffolk County, NY Recording Secretary, Bill Corrigan; NYS Missions & Charities Chairman, Matt Buckley and St. Patrick’s Division 2 past President, Tom Bennet.
St. Patrick’s Division 2 received their Junior Boys charter on April 10, 1970, and is only one of three Divisions in New York State to have Junior Boys. Congratulations and best wishes to Junior Boys President, Liam Chambers and all of his newly installed officers, as they carry the Division’s tradition into its 51st year!

Hope House Ministries www.hhm.org
Hope House Ministries is a non-profit organization located in Port Jefferson. They provide compassionate, comprehensive and competent care for the poor, the marginal and the wounded among us. This commitment is woven in the Gospel vision that all life is sacred and every human person is unique and has the right to be respected and protected. They have accomplished much over the 40+ years they have been helping others with minimal financial assistance from federal, state or county agencies. They depend on the generosity of private contributions, fundraising events and corporate donations. Hope House Ministries services people in both Nassau County and Suffolk County, offering services free of charge. Together, their staff and volunteers have created an empowering sense of family and community that are the change agents, helping young people grow in self-discipline, critical thinking, problem solving skills and personal responsibility. There are so many ways that this non-profit can truly help you get your life on a better track. Additionally, there are plenty of ways for people to get involved in helping others through volunteering. Over the past 40 years, thousands of people have donated their time and talent to help this organization reach those in need. In 2013, the founder of Hope House Ministries approached long-time supporters of this organization, Barbara and Arti, with an idea of a retail space that could bring in needed funds for Little Portion Frirary, a home which houses 65 young men in recovery of drug and alcohol addiction that is ran by Hope House Ministries. The hope was that the proceeds that would potentially be brought in from a retail space could pay for these young men’s college classes, food, utilities and transportation costs. Some years later, the perfect location for a store was found and they decided to open up a beautiful boutique there. Since their organization is all about second chances, they called it Hope
Springs Eternal Second Chance Boutique. This boutique is open to the public MondaySaturday from 11AM-5PM. You can expect to find beautiful items for sale here, such as clothing (some still with tags on them), household goods, and furniture. They only accept very gently used items and everything is cleaned and prepared for sale by a team of dedicated volunteers (the boutique is operated by volunteers only)! The selfless efforts of their volunteers truly makes the store feel warm and inviting. After rent and utilities are paid, all the rest of the proceeds go directly to the organization, which helps those in need. In addition to that, the boutique makes many homeless individuals feel loved and cared for by giving them items of clothing free of charge and allowing them to use their bathroom when needed. If you are looking to make a difference right here on Long Island or if you are just looking for a special something, stop by the boutique located at 19 Cherub Lane in Port Jefferson Station and make a purchase! There are many special items for sale, you wont regret the trip there. See images from inside their store below! Additionally, if you would like to volunteer at the boutique, you can. Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez and the rest of the Town Board have opened a portal on the town’s website to receive resident feedback regarding the new recreational marijuana legislation recently signed by Governor Andrew Cuomo. The Town Board cites the need to hear different perspectives from community stakeholders before deciding whether or not to opt out of the sale of the substance in the Town of Babylon. While the adult use of marijuana is currently legal across New York State, local municipalities
will have the ability to block the sale of the substance within their borders. The Town Board must make its decision before the end of the year. If the town does decide to opt out at the end of 2021, it can opt in the following year. However, if the town opts in at the end of 2021, they can no longer opt out at any time. “It was only a matter of time until we were forced with facing the legalization of marijuana in New York,” said Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer. “As we work toward a decision of whether or not to allow the sale of recreational marijuana within our borders, we feel
