Recognizing Your Life Cycles You may think you know where you will be one year from today. Think again. Wherever you are right now; the people who are around you, the places you frequent, your relationship status, financial status, health status... even the area in which you reside are all outward projections of your inner world and your current stage of development. In the blink of an eye you could find yourself doing a slow circle turnabout as you wonder, “Whoa! How did I get here? My world has done a sudden 180.” It’s as if you have taken a quantum leap, but that leap has actually been a long time in the making. It is a result of your personal life cycles. I know what you are thinking. “That’s an interesting thought, but a year from now my life will most likely be pretty much the same.” That could be, but let me ask you this... Think about the year you met your spouse, the year you unexpectedly changed career paths or fate might have brought you to a new city (maybe fate brought you to Long Island, NY from someplace else), the
year you found out you were going to be a parent for the first time. I could list a hundred more examples. Who knew as the clock struck 12 midnight on New Year’s Day of that year, that those life changing events would be coming your way. Life holds so many mysteries for us to unfold; sometimes pleasant and sometimes not so pleasant. What I have come to know is that no matter what you are going through, there are always goodies waiting around a new corner. I can honestly say, I have never gone through a personal trial without something magical coming out of it; a special person, a new opportunity, an important revelation. I have also come to know that life looks most messy before things fall into place. At that point, all you can say is, “Wow!,” and “Thank you.” We go through cycles of rest, growth and then reaping rewards. We know we are in a cycle of rest when life seems status quo, the needle doesn’t move very much and we are just going about our business with no significant
ripples. Life seems fairly effortless and predictable in this cycle. It may even seem a bit boring at times, and you long for a little spice. We know we are in a growth cycle when hard times come, life feels chaotic and overwhelming, we “just can’t seem to catch a break,” and we experience heavy and painful emotions. It is in our growth cycles where we do the most significant work and our soul achieves further expansion. This expansion prepares us for our next reward cycle. When we pass the tests we are given during our growth cycles, we will then (often, when we least expect it) come into a new reward cycle. A reward cycle is recognizable to us because this is when we experience the goodies of life. Someone special comes into our path, doors seem to open up, a dream comes true, and life starts to feel great again. Suddenly, perspective is achieved. Any discomfort seems worth it, because it delivered us to a place of being able to receive the gift(s) we are now being given.

What You Will Need 10 ripe tomatoes, chopped 3 English cucumbers, diced 1 large red onion, diced 1 yellow pepper, seeded and chopped 3 red peppers, seeded and chopped 4 tbs red wine vinegar 2 tbs of olive oil 1 clove garlic, minced ½ cup cilantro chopped 2 limes sliced 1 avocado diced
Salt and Pepper to taste Preparation 1.Place tomatoes, onion, bell peppers, Tabasco sauce and garlic in a food processor and process until smooth. 2. Place all of the cucumbers except ½ cup cucumbers into the blender and process until smooth. 3. Add vinegar and oil and quick process until mixed. 4. Place the mixture in a serving bowl, and stir thoroughly. 5. Cover and refrigerate for an hour or until serving time. 6. Remove from refrigerator and uncover. 7. Add salt and pepper to taste. 8. Place gazpacho into serving dishes. 9. Garnish with remaining cucumbers and cilantro and a piece of lime and 1 t. of avocado. Enjoy! Products used to wash boat hull sand decks often contain toxic ingredients such as chlorine, phosphates and ammonia. Degreasers dry the natural oils fish need for their gills to take in oxygen. For boats that are in the water, use cleaning methods that prevent or contain the release of pollutants to surface waters. Below are a few actions you can take: 1) When possible, remove the boat from the water and perform cleaning where debris can be captured and properly disposed. 2) Use fresh water to clean your boat after every use. 3) Use environmentally friendly cleaning methods and products. Here are a list of a few alternatives to toxic products: Elbow Grease, Hydogen Peroxide, Baking Soda, Salt, Apple Cider Vinegar, Baby Oil.
This organization holds Beach, Bay and Waterway Clean-Ups and operates several other projects such as Street Storm Drains, Ocean-Bay Water Exchange, No Wake Zones, Clean Marina Program, Youth Education Programs and more.

County Legislature Visit North Babylon’s William E. DeLuca Jr. Elementary School’s Student Council met with Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly during their monthly Student Council meeting on April 3. Students discussed
a variety of topics with Donnelly including the different levels and branches of government. They also discussed how their roles as leaders within the school community demonstrate a willingness to serve the people of the
community. In addition, Legislature Donnelly explained his personal background and how he came to hold public office, and he answered student questions.

Copiague School District’s Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kathleen Bannon was selected as an honoree at the Town of Babylon’s National Women’s History month celebration on March 25. At the 30th annual celebration, themed “Visionary Women: Champions of Peace and Nonviolence,” 30 women were honored for their service to the Town of Babylon. “It is truly an honor
to be recognized among these women who have worked tirelessly for the betterment of this community,” Dr. Bannon said. With more than 30 years of educational experience, Dr. Bannon has served as the leader of Copiague Public Schools since 2015. With more than 5,000 students and 700 staff members, Dr. Bannon is student-centered, intelligent and one of the greatest advocates for the Copiague community.

In recognition of the Council for Art Education’s Youth Art Month, students enrolled in both Patricia Stork’s and Cheryl Schweider’s art classes at Babylon Junior-Senior High School are taking part in a series of fun and engaging art projects. During lunch periods, students were encouraged to assist in painting a community-driven “paint by numbers” canvas. The finished product will display a beautiful field of flowers once all of the designated sections have
been filled in. In an effort to enhance their familiarity with film photography, students worked on a project in which they take a photo of a fellow classmate, along with an object of their choosing. Taking the negatives from both photographs, the students then merge the two together to form a beautiful layered image. In coordination with “The Umbrella Project,” students expanded their artistic visions by adding splashes of color and

Youth Art Month imagination to blank umbrellas. The students chose to create designs such as dragons, the moon and the sun and geometric shapes for their projects. In honor of the Babylon School District’s Panther logo, the students also created a large sculpture in the image of the exotic feline. As an added twist, those involved with the project have added old computer parts, such as loose keys throughout the length of its body, along with computer mice serving as the panther’s paws.

Gian runs Jaxson’s as a general maintenance shop, along with his brother BJ. Gian’s stepfather Mark was who he and BJ got their earlier education in mechanics from, and he was part of the original business plan. Unfortunately, Mark has since been involved in a serious motorcycle accident. He is okay but is no longer able to work alongside them. Gian has always stood out

to many of us who see him active in the community, going back to when he first opened up the new business. He started out by going to the various community organizations, introducing himself and letting everyone know about his plans.
Since then, Gian has doubled down on his commitment to others by continuing to care for Pastor Jim and the other Lighthouse volunteer’s cars whenever they are in need. He also hosts a continual food, toy and coat drive to help meet the demands of the many who would otherwise go without. I also learned that around last Christmas, a family was supposed to pick up their car from Jaxson’s but was not able to pay at that moment…
We all know a grand opening is a planned event that is designed to shine a light on yourself, however, in preparation for his grand opening he took things to a higher level. Gian diverted the much needed attention from himself and shifted it to those in need. It was all about Lighthouse Missions, which is an amazing organization that feeds the homeless and less fortunate people living among us.
Gian released the car to them at no charge and told them about the great work Lighthouse Missions was doing. He encouraged them to seek some assistance. The family was very grateful and as soon as their rough patch
came to an end they came back and paid their bill. Now we all know a good deed is not done to be boasted about, but sometimes a nice story helps you truly get to know a person! Gian and BJ both share the desire to dispel the old stereotype of the untrustworthy mechanic or that car repairs always cost a fortune. They do honest work for honest pay. There isn’t anything fancy over at Jaxson’s, just good mechanics doing good work and building relationships along the way. Pastor Scott Kraniak of Centereach Bible Church met Gian early on as he opened up Jaxson’s. Pastor Scott, a huge “car
guy” himself, with a love for all things Jeep, has become a regular customer. He and Gian now consider each other friends. The extent of this new friendship was most evident as Pastor Scott recently officiated Gian’s wedding. Gian and his wife Rachel have a beautiful baby girl named Lucy. The purpose behind these spotlight articles is to learn about the people behind your local businesses (and who doesn’t need to know more about their chosen mechanic?). A highlight for some students was a visit to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, where they were able to meet and talk with survivors of the Holocaust.

Babylon JSHS Names Top Students The Babylon School District is thrilled to announce that Babylon Junior-Senior High School students Dylan Pané and Pavani Kumar have been named valedictorian and salutatorian for the 201819 academic school year, respectively. Both students obtained this high honor for their exceptional academic record, commitment
to success and diligent learning throughout their careers at the Babylon Junior-Senior High School. “It’s unbelievable what you two have accomplished so far,” said Babylon Junior-Senior High School Principal Al Cirone during a reception held in the school’s Rowe Hall lobby. “You’ve both worked so hard to get here, both in
