The Seaford School District welcomes seasoned administrator Dr. Nicole Schimpf to the student support services leadership team. She joined the district in early July as the assistant director of pupil personnel services PK-8.
Dr. Schimpf brings more than 25 years of experience in special education leadership. She most recently was the executive director of special education and pupil personnel services in Cold Spring Harbor Schools for three years, and prior to that was director of special services in Valley Stream District 30 for a dozen years. Her career began as a school psychologist, working with the nonprofit Institute for Student Achievement in Manhasset and assigned to school districts on Long Island and in Westchester. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and psychology
from Dowling College, a master’s degree in school psychology from St. John’s University and a doctorate in educational leadership from Manhattanville University.
In Seaford, Dr. Schimpf will oversee special education and related services for students in grades pre-K-8. This position, she said, will allow her to take a more hands-on role with students, teachers, pupil personnel services staff and families. She wants to utilize her broad experience
as a leader, which includes starting co-teaching classes and programs for students with autism, to make a meaningful impact.
“Seaford is a very closeknit community that values the whole child,” Dr. Schimpf said. “A focus on social and emotional learning is embedded into the culture here, and the district is well known for its comprehensive special education programs.”
Parents who want to encourage their children to volunteer may find their efforts at doing so are more convincing if they volunteer themselves.
A 2013 study published in the Journal of Adolescence examined the effects that parents who volunteer and talk about volunteering have on children.
Researchers found that the children of volunteers were 27 percent more likely to volunteer than children whose parents did not volunteer. In addition, adolescents were 47 percent more likely to volunteer when their parents volunteered and talked about volunteering with their children.

Scout. Joined by fellow elected officials, Senator Rhoads attended Andrew’s
Eagle Scout Court of Honor Ceremony to celebrate his outstanding achievement and unwavering commitment to serving his community.
Earning the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor in Scouting, represents years of dedication, perseverance, leadership, and service. Andrew achieved this milestone by completing an impactful Eagle Scout service project at St. Martin of Tours Church in Bethpage. Leading a team of volunteers, Andrew landscaped the areas surrounding the parish flagpole and the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary, repainted the statue, and installed collection boxes to enhance and support the church grounds. His efforts have left a lasting improvement that will benefit the parish community for years to come.
“Andrew’s dedication to serving others and improving his community embodies the very values that the Eagle Scout rank represents,” said Senator Rhoads. “His leadership, hard work, and commitment to making a difference are truly commendable. I congratulate Andrew on this remarkable accomplishment and wish him continued success as

The Keith P. Kern Member of the Year Award is presented annually in memory of Lt. Keith P. Kern to recognize a firefighter who exemplifies the highest standards of leadership, dedication, service, and commitment. Andrew’s journey with the Seaford Fire Department began at just 18 years old through the department’s Junior Firefighter Program, where his passion for serving others quickly became evident. Since becoming an active member, he has earned
the respect of his fellow firefighters as a dependable teammate, trusted friend, and selfless individual who consistently puts the needs of the department and community first.
“As a 33-year volunteer firefighter myself, I know firsthand the dedication and sacrifice it takes to answer the call,” said Senator Rhoads. “Andrew represents the very best of the next generation of volunteer firefighters. The Seaford Public Library is seeking community members interested in serving on the Board of Trustees. Catherine DiPietro has decided to retire from the Board effective Monday, July 13th, 2026.
