Montauk has changed over the years. It’s no secret that influencers, luxury hotels, and social media have transformed this once-quiet fishing village into one of the East Coast’s trendiest destinations. Some of my favorite memories have been made over long dinners at Duryea’s, where the waterfront views somehow make time stand still. Cocktails at The Crow’s Nest have become a tradition, with its effortless coastal charm and twinkling lights that make every evening feel like summer should never end. And then there’s The Montauket, perched high above the water, where locals and visitors gather together to watch one of the most spectacular sunsets on Long Island. It truly never gets old. Beyond the well-known favorites lies the history that gives Montauk its soul. The iconic Montauk Point Lighthouse that has stood watch since 1796, guiding ships through changing tides for generations. Wander the quiet trails of Camp Hero, explore hidden beaches tucked away from the crowds, or simply take a scenic drive to discover the corners that don’t always make it onto Instagram. Those are often the places that stay with you the longest. That’s what I hope Kerry’s Compass becomes—a place to share destinations worth exploring, hidden gems waiting to be discovered, and stories that remind us why we travel in the first place. Massapequa Kiwanis to Host 14th Annual Bocce BBQ Fundraiser The Massapequa Kiwanis will host its 14th Annual Bocce BBQ Fundraiser on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Kiwanis Log Cabin at John J. Burns Park in Massapequa. The rain date is September 26. Registration begins at 10 a.m., with the bocce competition starting at 11 a.m. The event will feature bocce competition, a bagel breakfast, an all-day BBQ, beer, wine and soda, raffles, entertainment, and cash prizes for first- and secondplace teams. Registration For Fall And Winter Youth Ice Hockey Program Oyster Bay Town Councilman Lou Imbroto announced that registration for the Town’s Fall and Winter Youth Ice Hockey Program will begin soon for boys and girls ages 8U- 16U. This program includes a training camp, full house league game schedule, and playoffs. Clinics spanning 10 weeks in duration will also be available for registration including all girls’ clinics, 6U clinics, and adult learn to play clinics. Programs will begin on September 27, 2026. “This recreational and instruction program is designed to give players a great way to learn the correct fundamentals of one of America’s most popular sports,” said Councilman Imbroto. “In addition to receiving instruction on the proper techniques of skating, stickhandling and shooting, participants will make new friends and create lifelong memories.” Registration is easy—simply visit www. oysterbaytown.com/sports to sign up. Registration opens Wednesday, August 26th for residents at 9:00 a.m., and Friday, August 28th at 9:00 a.m. for non-residents. All registrants must provide a copy of their birth certificate, proof of residency, and payment for registration. Massapequa Announces No-Cost Meals For Upcoming School Year

The Massapequa School District announces that it is serving meals at no charge for children under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program for students for the 2026–27 school year. Lunch is served at no cost throughout the entire school year. A no-charge breakfast program for students in grades K–5 begins Oct. 1, 2026. Massapequa High School offers breakfast at no charge throughout the school year.
