Mery and Sindy always knew they wanted to open a spa to bring beauty to customers. Little did they know it would have the same effect on the community. And Business First was there. We provided $23,000 in grants to help with much-needed renovations so Mery and Sindy could bring their vision to life.* Now, not only does their spa impact clients in a beautiful way, it gives the community an economic lift as well.

Branches in Bloom: A Spring Festival Celebrating Arbor Day

Spring is one of the most magical times at Planting Fields, when the landscape comes alive with color and fragrance. Sweeping groves of magnolias, flowering cherries, and other spring-blooming trees transform the grounds into clouds of white, pink, and soft yellow, creating a breathtaking seasonal display.

This year, visitors are invited to experience Branches in Bloom, a new spring festival taking root at Planting Fields. Centered on the spectacular collections of magnolias and flowering cherries near the expansive lawn west of the Main House, the festival showcases hundreds of trees at the height of their bloom: an unforgettable celebration of spring in full flower!

What to Expect:

– Sweeping spring blossoms at peak bloom

– Guided tours of the historic landscape

– Kids Tree Climb with Wonderland Tree Care + Landscapes Weather permitting. Closes at 2:30pm both days.

– Educational displays & demonstrations

– Live music & performances. Including magic acts, jugglers, and more!

– Family-friendly activities throughout the day Including seedling giveaways, face painting, caricaturists, food trucks, and more!

It’s a chance to slow down. To wander. To look up into canopies of color. To celebrate the trees that shape our environment and define this extraordinary place.

This is spring as it was meant to be experienced.

For nearly four decades, Planting Fields has proudly celebrated Arbor Day and the vital role trees play in our environment. Branches in Bloom honors that long-standing tradition while embracing

a new way to experience spring at Planting Fields. By registering for this event, you consent to receive emails from Planting Fields Foundation and also consent to Planting Fields Foundation photographing and filming during the event. Benefits Of Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way for individuals to strengthen their communities, but it also can be a unique way for individuals to improve their own overall happiness. A 2020 study published in the Journal of Happiness Studies examined 70,000 participants, each of whom

received surveys that asked questions regarding their volunteering habits and mental health. The study found that, when compared to those who did

not volunteer, people who had volunteered in the previous 12 months were more satisfied with their lives and gave their overall health higher ratings.

The frequency of giving back to one’s community also may affect just how much volunteering affects mental health.

Did You Know?

Parents who want to encourage their children to volunteer may find their efforts at doing so are more convincing if they volunteer themselves. A study published in the Journal of Adolescence examined the effects that parents who volunteer and talk about volunteering have on children. Researchers found that the children of volunteers were 27 percent more likely to volunteer than children whose parents did not volunteer. In addition, adolescents were 47 percent more likely to volunteer when their parents volunteered and talked about volunteering with their children.

For additional information or to request a nomination form, please call 631-867-3001.

The Pride of Lindenhurst Award continues to celebrate the individuals and organizations who make a lasting impact and help foster a strong sense of pride across the district.
