Memorial Day Parade Set

This year, the VFW Warren Keer Post 9482, will hold its 62nd Annual Memorial Day Parade in Copiague on Monday, May 27th. Memorial Day and red poppies are a solemn reminder of all the American lives that have been lost in fighting for the freedom we are fortunate enough to enjoy. The red poppies will be available after each Mass leading up to Memorial Day at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Copiague and donations will be accepted. All residents are encouraged to spend a few minutes with on Monday, May 27th as the parade kicks off at 10 a.m. at Dixon Avenue and Great Neck Road. It will proceed south on Great Neck Road, stopping at each war memorial to confer a public mark of respect. There are two

war memorials: a WWI memorial just north of the railroad overpass, and the recently updated and renovated memorial at the corner of Scudder Avenue and Great Neck Road. Our Lady of the Assumption Nursery School will once again sponsor its Chinese Auction on Friday, May 17th. Doors will open at 7 p.m. No smoking is permitted in the auditorium. There will be light refreshments available for purchase. Admission is $5. This fee includes a sheet of auction tickets, a door prize ticket, a piece of cake and a cup of coffee or tea.
