Pal-O-Mine Equestrian Now Offering Barnyard Buddies Program For Children Ages 2-5 Years

Hope for Youth www.hfyny.org Hope For Youth’s dedicated team of staff, volunteers and interns facilitates positive change in the lives of Long Island children, youth and families. The non-profit runs what they call a Kinship Caregiver Program, which helps create a better Long Island by offering a child a pathway to a better future.
Pal-O-Mine Equestrian, Inc. , a private, not for profit organization providing a comprehensive therapeutic equine program using horses to facilitate growth, learning and healing for children and adults with disabilities, has launched a new program for children ages 2-5 years. The Barnyard Buddies Program is a hands-on learning program which involves Pal-O-Mine’s therapy animals. It is facilitated by experienced and licensed educational and healthcare professionals who will use an experiential approach to learning. Its unique, age-appropriate curriculum includes social-emotional, physical, cognitive, and imaginative concepts and activities such as expressive art projects. Additionally, it incorporates focused exposure to pre-reading/ reading, mathematics, and
problem-solving skills. Children enjoy learning in Pal-O-Mine’s naturalistic learning environment full of positive support. Children of all levels of abilities are welcome. The Barnyard Buddies program consists of four sessions held once a week on Tuesday mornings at Pal-O-Mine Equestrian, 829 Old Nichols Road, Islandia, NY. Session dates are April 26th, May 3rd, May 10th and May 17th. Each session is 90-minutes long and begins at 9:30 AM and ends at 11:00 AM. Sessions are limited to a maximum of ten children. One parent or caregiver must accompany each child. The fee for the fourweek program is $150 per child and must be paid in full prior to the first session. Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted and there is a 3.25% processing fee on credit card transactions. To learn more or enroll your child

About Pal-O-Mine Founded in 1995 by Lisa Gatti, Pal-O-Mine is a private, not for profit organization providing a comprehensive therapeutic equine program using horses to facilitate growth, learning and healing for children and adults with disabilities, as well as those who have been abused or neglected, veterans and the economically compromised. Pal-O-Mine offers a broad range of programs many of which involve the organization’s herd of therapy horses and livestock. Pal-OMine relies on grants and contributions from private citizens, foundations and businesses to help raise funds. Equally as sad, Long Island, like many communities across the country, is in dire need of foster parents for children from birth to the age of 18, whether these caregivers have informal or formal custody of children. Such care isn’t always provided by unrelated individuals. When provided by a relative, it’s called “kinship care.” Kinship foster parents must provide full-time protection and nurturing of a child, as well as a stable and safe home. They must be above the age of 21 and meet a number of additional eligibility requirements. Designated kinship foster parents receive various types of financial support. They also receive family services, case management support and other supportive services.
Families have access to such Hope For Youth services as mental health, ChildParent Psychotherapy, Children and Family Treatment Support Services and the Health Home program. In addition, Hope For Youth partners with the “Parenting the Second Time Around” (PASTA) team from the Riverhead-based Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County to help grandparents navigate the educational, medical and legal systems to get the support and resources they need. Their experts assist with such challenges as discipline, child development, legal concerns and rebuilding a family. Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County also provides support groups for both adults and children, plus monthly social activities for families. Hope For Youth’s Kinship Caregiver Program is designed to help and support this category of caregiver, bearing in mind that the courts are obliged to make every effort to reunite a child with a parent. The War On Ukraine And The Legacy Of World War II The Museum Of American Armor Will Field An Education Day For Long Island’s High School Students That Connects History To Headlines field tactics, and mock small arms in open woods reminiscent of World War II France. Pal-O-Mine Equestrian, Inc., a private, not for profit organization providing a comprehensive therapeutic equine program using horses to facilitate growth, learning and healing for children and adults with disabilities, will be holding its Third Annual Derby Stakes on Friday, May 6th, 2022 from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm. Unlike last year’s virtual event, this year’s Derby Stakes will be a live event at PalO-Mine Equestrian, 829 Old Nichols Road, Islandia, NY. “We are so excited to bring our popular live Derby Stakes back for the enjoyment of Long Islanders,” said Pal-OMine Equestrian founder and CEO Lisa Gatti. “It is a wonderful family event in the fresh outdoors where people of all ages can enjoy watching our horses and staff compete in several fun races. In the program, we emulate the real Derby experience, from the trumpeter signaling the start of the races to a real
life jockey announcing the horses and the outriders as they enter the arena. The winners are showered with ribbons and a wreath of flowers.” This year will also feature of Parade of Breeds showcasing many unique breeds of horses that Pal-O-Mine uses in their program. The Derby Stakes will feature Pal-O-Mine’s staff riding its horses in six competitive races that showcase both the herd’s versatility and the riders’ talent as horsemen and women. Among them will be a “Seattle Slow” walking race and a “Smoky Jones” canter race. Prerace activities include: interactive farm games, hat contest, paddock walk, craft fair and a photo booth. Admission is $10.00 per person (under 5 are free) and all donations from the event will go to supporting the care of the Pal-O-Mine herd of therapy horses. In addition to making a donation, there are sponsorship opportunities
for Long Island families, businesses, associations, and civic groups. The different sponsorship levels include: Race Sponsors at $250.00 per race and Parade of Breeds Sponsor at $750.00. Bethpage Federal Credit Union, New York State’s largest credit union, and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, announce the performer line-up for the much-anticipated 18th Annual Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach, taking place on Saturday, May 28, 2022 and Sunday, May 29, 2022, from 10 AM – 3 PM. Returning for their 9th headlining performance, with two native New Yorkers on the jet team, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels return to Long Island following the cancellation of their last scheduled performance in 2020, due to Covid. Military performers joining the Blue Angels are the United States Army Golden Knights Parachute Team, which will be making their 16th appearance at the Bethpage Air Show; the Air Combat Command
F-22 Raptor; the U.S. Navy F-35C Tac Demonstration Team; the U.S. Coast Guard; and the 106th Rescue Wing NY Air National Guard HC - 130 / HH 60 Demonstration Team. Civilian performers include the world-famous Skytypers and their flight squadron of five vintage WWII aircraft; Mike Goulian, North America’s most decorated aerobatic pilot; Jessy Panzer, a highly recognized female aerobatic pilot making her second Bethpage Air Show appearance; the American Air Power Museum Warbirds; Long Island’s own David Windmiller; and the SUNY Farmingdale State College Flying Rams, who will fly several of their 22 college-owned aircraft. “This year’s highly anticipated show is going to be spectacular! We are very pleased to welcome the Blue Angels

Why It’s Critical To Price Your House Right When you make a move, you want to sell your house for the highest price possible. That might be why many homeowners are eager to list in today’s sellers’ market. After all, with record-low inventory and high buyer demand, many homes are selling for more than asking price. Data from the National Association of Realtors (NAR) shows 46% of homes are selling above list price today. But even in a market like we have now, working with an agent to set the right asking price is critical, as pricing it too high or too low could have a negative impact on your final sale. Here’s why.
Pricing Your House Right Is Crucial Even in a Sellers’ Market The price you set for your house sends a message to potential buyers. Price it too low and you might raise questions about your home’s condition or lead buyers to assume something is wrong with the property. Not to mention, you could leave money on the table, which decreases your future buying power if you undervalue your house. On the other hand, price it too high and you run the risk of deterring buyers.
