‘Community is not just where we live’ Neepawa cultural diversity celebration brings people together
By Casper Wehrhahn Neepawa Banner & Press There was plenty to experience at the Neepawa Middle School this past Saturday. From 1:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., Neepawa and Area Immigrant Settlement Services hosted a Belonging and Cultural Diversity celebration, bringing cultures across the globe under one roof. “While planning the event, my main goal was to ensure that the many cultures already present in Neepawa were represented and celebrated,” said Thea Krystabel Duka, executive assistant at Neepawa Settlement. “Seeing everything come together was honestly surreal—it’s very different from planning it on paper. It turned into such a meaningful and vibrant day. What stood out most to me was how, in those moments, everyone was simply enjoying themselves and experiencing each other’s cultures. It truly felt like a genuine celebration of community.” Continued on Page 20
