GOALS
The goals of the National Dental Association are to:
Improve the delivery of oral health care in underserved communities and improve the educational opportunities of minorities underrepresented in the oral health field.
The specific objectives of the NDA are to:
Establish the NDA as the vanguard of oral health in communities of color.
Perpetuate the tradition and upgrade the stature of African American dentists in service to the minority community.
Increase the number of minorities in dentistry in areas of private practice, academia, administration, research, health policy, media advocacy and the armed services.
Provide members with opportunities for continued education, collaborative research, leadership training, and business networking.
Inform health policy, interface with legislators, and influence legislation that affects minority consumers and providers.
Support members in transition from dental student to dental professionals to retirees.
Strengthen alliances with other health organizations, community groups, national coalitions, and corporations committed to the NDA ideals.

Welcome to the 112th Annual Convention of the National Dental Association in historic Kansas City, Missouri—a city known for its jazz, BBQ, National Negro Baseball Leage Museum, resilience, and innovation. It is an honor to gather with each of you in celebration of our collective commitment to excellence in oral health, social justice, and professional advancement.
As President of this storied Association, I proudly embrace our 2025 convention theme: “Dentistry United: Empowering Communities, Inspiring Leaders.” This theme reflects the essence of our mission—to unify, uplift, and mobilize the diverse talents of our profession to create meaningful, equitable change in the communities we serve.
Since the beginning of my presidency, the NDA has remained at the forefront of advocacy, education, and strategic collaboration. From our NDA Day on the Hill—where we addressed legislation impacting Medicaid dental benefits, workforce equity, and access to care—to our leadership presence at ADEA, AADGP, CDS, Hinman, and RAM missions, our voices have echoed nationally. The Health Equity Call to Action (HECTA) task force formed to bring together leaders in various health disciplines to create a cohesive call to action that works to eliminate racial and ethnic health disparities. Together, we have advanced key conversations around oral health disparities, student debt, DEI, and healthcare justice.
We are proud to welcome new leadership to the NDA, including Executive Director Mr. Marcus Ware, Vice President Dr. LaTedra Collins, and Events Planner Ms. Tonya Horsley, whose expertise has energized our national initiatives. With their support, we re-launched the SMILE Pathways Program, published a new Member Benefits Brochure, and expanded collaborations with organizations such as Colgate, CareQuest, Henry Schein, Team Smile, and the Center for Medicare Advocacy.
Throughout this convention, let us not only celebrate our achievements but also recommit ourselves to our legacy. We stand on the shoulders of pioneers—trailblazers who challenged exclusion, championed education, and broke barriers in healthcare. Their spirit lives in our community outreach, our student mentorship, and our ongoing pursuit of policy reform that centers equity and access.

Dear NDA Family and Friends,
Welcome to Richmond, Virginia, and welcome to the 113th National Dental Association Convention. It is my honor to greet you as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and to welcome you to a city whose history challenges us, inspires us, and reminds us that progress is never accidental. Richmond stands at the intersection of America’s most difficult chapters and some of its most transformative triumphs. Once the capital of the Confederacy, it is now a city that tells a broader story, one of resilience, leadership, entrepreneurship, advocacy, and the enduring pursuit of equity. It is fitting that we gather here under the theme, Architects of Change.
For more than a century, the National Dental Association has served as an architect of change within our profession. Founded because African American dentists were excluded from organized dentistry, the NDA has never been content to simply react to barriers. Instead, we have built pathways. We have developed leaders. We have created opportunities. We have advocated for communities too often overlooked and underserved. We have challenged systems and advanced a vision of healthcare that is equitable, accessible, and just.
This convention represents much more than four days of continuing education and networking. It is an opportunity to renew our commitment to the mission that has sustained this organization for generations. Throughout the week, you will engage in outstanding clinical and scientific programming, reconnect with colleagues and friends, explore the latest innovations in dentistry, and participate in conversations that address the political, educational, economic, and social factors that continue to influence oral health outcomes in our communities.
As dental professionals, we understand that the challenges facing our patients extend far beyond the operatory. Workforce shortages, educational disparities, access to care, public policy, economic barriers, and persistent health inequities require thoughtful leadership and collective action. The NDA has long served as a voice for those concerns, and this convention provides us with an opportunity to continue that important work.
I encourage each of you to take full advantage of the experiences Richmond has to offer. Visit the historic neighborhoods, museums, and landmarks that tell the story of African American perseverance and achievement. Reflect upon the sacrifices of those who came before us and consider how their courage continues to shape the opportunities we enjoy today. Their legacy reminds us that meaningful change requires vision, commitment, and the willingness to act.
This convention is particularly meaningful for me personally, as it concludes my final term as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Serving this organization has been among the greatest honors of my professional life. I have had the privilege of working alongside dedicated Trustees, officers, staff, affiliate leaders, faculty, students, residents, and members who have devoted their time and talents to strengthening our association and advancing our mission.
Together, we have addressed significant organizational challenges, strengthened our governance and financial foundation, expanded partnerships, enhanced member engagement, and positioned the NDA for continued growth and impact. While much work remains, I am confident that the future of this organization is bright because of the remarkable leaders who continue to answer the call to serve.

This year’s theme, “Architects of Chan ge,” reflects the leadership, innovation, and unwavering commitment demonstrated by members of the National Dental Association and its family of organizations as we work collectively to advance health equity and improve the oral and overall health of our communities.
Over the next several days, attendees will engage in outstanding continuing education programs, national and local oral health and public policy discussions, meaningful networking opportunities, and an expansive exhibit hall showcasing innovations shaping the future of oral health care.
As the philanthropic partner of the National Dental Association, the Foundation is proud of the continued expansion of the NDAF–Colgate Scholarship & Fellowship Program and the second year of the BRIDGES Scholarships. We remain deeply committed to supporting the next generation of oral health professionals through scholarships, fellowships, research initiatives, pathway programs, and leadership development opportunities.
During this year’s convention, we are especially proud to recognize the recipients of the NDAF–Colgate Scholarships and Fellowships. Through the generous support of the Colgate-Palmolive Company, the Foundation will award 58 scholarships and fellowships totaling $280,500 in direct student support this year representing one of the largest annual scholarship and fellowship investments in our history.

On behalf of the National Dental Assistant Association, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our 62nd annual convention in Richmond, Virginia. I know that you will find this convention productive. We have planned courses to serve managers, dental assistants, and the clerical staff. We recognize that the staff needs continuing education to improve the practice at the clinic we are employed.
Dentists encourage your staff to become involved with NDAA. We are employed to be productive leaders. Therefore, continuing education allows us to stay on top of all the new things happening in our fast past world today. The courses selected will teach the staff members how to serve the dentist and patient. We are working hard to keep our assistants up to date on new laws and the latest technology. I am hopeful that this will increase their knowledge to build your practice and take it to the next level of high production. So, I challenge you to get your staff involved with NDAA and keep them involved year after year so that we can learn the needs of all offices. We are the greeters that answer the phones, fill the schedules, breakdown and set up the rooms, do financial/insurance consults, keep your supply bills in order, pay the bills, and sell treatment plans. If the dentist brings their staff members to participate in the courses offered, they will be able to incorporate information learned from the ones you select for them to attend into an action plan to benefit the patient and you.
National Dental Assistants are here to be educated and have a splendid time doing it. We have great enthusiast speakers that are excited about improving oral health in our communities. Please visit the exhibition hall and support the vendors who help us continue to improve our oral health by offering great products. Please join our fundraiser Painting while Sipping on Friday, and our lunch and learn with Sr. Jamila Taylor on CBCT x-rays.
We are celebrating 62 years with NDA; I would like to thank the NDAA Executive Board and Committee Chairs for all your hard work in planning this convention. I’m Dr. Brhan Eskinder, a recent proud graduate of the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and the 2025-2026 National President of the Student National Dental Association (SNDA). It is a true honor to extend the warmest greetings on behalf of our SNDA family as we join together in this beautiful and bountiful space for yet another incredible year!
As an organization, SNDA exhibited spectacular growth over the past decade and this year, we kept building on that momentum with diligent and intentional vision. Our guiding spirit this year, entitled “SNDA Homecoming”, was an homage to all things culture, excellence, and unity. As a Spelman College graduate, that’s definitely an HBCU reference. But as your leader, it’s a reminder that when we get together…we are home.
Administratively, SNDA achieved some notable advancements this year that will contribute to the fortification of this space for generations to come. A few of those 2025-2026 achievements include:
SNDA’s “THE APEX PROJECT” which remodeled our brand’s visibility with an updated and modernized logo and more robust digital footprint.
SNDA “MIND OVER MOLAR” centralized events and programming that prioritized the body, mind, and spirit of SNDA students nationwide.
And of course, we worked tirelessly to design a particularly special and memorable SNDA54 Convention experience as we know July of every year is our family’s true return home.
Alongside the incredible and sustained partnership/mentorship of the NDA, SNDA is proud to strive for excellence and inclusivity year after year. It has been my greatest honor serving in this role and I wish my entire SNDA family a happy and full homecoming this July!

The National Dental Hygienists’ Association is especially proud to stand alongside the National Dental Association, the Student National Dental Association (SNDA), the National Dental Assistants Association (NDAA), the Auxiliary to the National Dental Association (ANDA), and the National Dental Association Foundation (NDAF).

As the dental hygiene profession continues to evolve with the changing landscape of healthcare, technology, education, and workforce needs, NDHA remains committed to empowering dental hygienists as prevention specialists, educators, public health advocates, and leaders within the broader healthcare system. Our theme, “Empowering Dental Hygienists. Advancing Oral Health Equity. Strengthening Communities”, reflects our continued dedication to ensuring that oral health remains an essential part of overall health and wellness.
This year, we are also proud to highlight License Ready: NDHA Student Success Program, an initiative designed to support dental hygiene students as they transition into licensed professionals through mentorship, professional development, board preparation, and leadership engagement. These students represent the future architects of our profession, and we are honored to invest in their success.
One of the greatest strengths of this convention is the spirit of unity and fellowship shared across the professional organizations represented here. This gathering is more than a conference—it is what I call a Dental Family Reunion. It is an opportunity to learn from one another, strengthen partnerships, celebrate excellence, and recommit ourselves to improving oral health outcomes in underserved communities nationwide.
Over the next several days, I encourage each of you to fully engage in the educational sessions, collaborative discussions, networking opportunities, and moments of inspiration that make this convention experience so meaningful.
