Rugby union has been played in Pontefract since the late 19th century when the club started out as the old Pomfretians. The club then reformed after the second world war as Pontefract RUFC and moved to our home at Moor Lane. Today the club hosts an array of different age groups, including minis, juniors, men’s, seniors, girls and ladies’ seniors. As part of the rugby union community, the general committee made the decision some time ago to base our club values on those adopted by England Rugby. Everyone involved at Pontefract Rugby Football Union Club whether as a player, coach, referee, administrator, parent or spectator, is expected to uphold the core values of sport:
