Our approach emphasizes emotional intelligence and moral development, fostering empathetic, resilient students prepared for life’s challenges. Extensive extracurricular activities, clubs, and student organizations

Student-led commitment to community service

Grades 7th and 8th

This stage of the journey is intentionally designed to bridge the gap between elementary and high school, with 7th and 8th graders helping younger students transition with confidence and a strong sense of belonging. Shared experiences that connect students across grades foster relationships, continuity, and the feeling of being part of one unified school community.

Purposeful activities, such as collaborative lunches, shadow days, and the Bridge Day celebration, provide students with the opportunity to learn alongside their peers, build familiarity, and transition to the next stage of their academic path feeling supported and prepared.

Students discover who they are and who they are becoming through leadership development opportunities such as the Peer Leadership Program and the Student Council, recognized five years in a row with the National Gold Council of Excellence.

SECONDARY SCHOOL

Starting in tenth grade, students have the opportunity to participate in the Advanced Placement (AP) Program. This rigorous, college-level curriculum challenges them academically while offering the opportunity to earn college credit. With 28 AP in-person courses available across various subjects-from math and science to humanities and languages-students can tailor their education to their interests and strengths.

Students take the AP exams at the end of each course, where high scores may result in college credits, advanced standing in university courses, or both. Our AP Program prepares students for the demands of higher education and cultivates critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and subject mastery.

Advanced Placement Program College Counseling

Finding the Perfect Fit

Beginning in ninth grade, students work closely with their academic advisors to thoughtfully plan their high school coursework, explore their interests, and begin building a strong foundation for their future college applications.

From eleventh grade onward, College Counselors partner with students to identify colleges that align with their passions, strengths, and long-term goals, guiding them through every step of the application process.

HURRICANE TEAM PRIDE!

Our school offers a dynamic athletics program for grades K-12, with 13 sports that foster interscholastic competition. Aligned with the school’s mission, athletics serve as an extension of the classroom, teaching discipline, sportsmanship, leadership, and teamwork.

Through our Hurricanes Code, students are encouraged to represent their school, team, and fellow students with dignity on and off the field. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Parent Engagement Team

We believe in the power of solid school-home partnerships. Our Room Parents play a crucial role in creating unforgettable experiences for students and fostering a close-knit community.

Parent Volunteers are the heart of our cherished school events, bringing their creativity and passion to uphold our traditions and build lasting memories for all. Joining our Parent Engagement Team is like being a part of something truly special!

Parent Development

We see our school parents as key partners in their children’s learning journey. Our Parent Development sessions provide valuable tools and strategies to support their child’s education and personal growth.

Through these workshops led by experts in their fields, parents gain insights and skills that strengthen their role in fostering academic excellence and social-emotional development.

Creating an Open and Supportive Environment

We foster strong connections between our community and leadership. Our Head of School hosts monthly opportunities for parents to engage in meaningful conversations, ask questions, and share feedback.

These moments, whether through informal gatherings, social events, or dedicated sessions, allow parents to connect directly with the school, ensuring open communication and a shared commitment to student success.

Lifelong Connections with Our Alumni

Our alumni remain an active and valued part of the SJS community long after graduation. Through our dedicated alumni Facebook [Saint John’s School Alumni] and Instagram [@sjspralumni] accounts and the Forever Hurricanes Alumni Hub, graduates stay connected with school news, fellow alumni, and the next generation of Hurricanes.

Traditions such as the Holiday Party, SJS Comes to You, and Career Day offer meaningful opportunities for alumni to reconnect with the school community and inspire current students. Initiatives like the Parent Alumni Happy Hour, designed for alumni who are current SJS parents, and the Legacy of Canes Family Breakfast for alumni parents and their graduating seniors, strengthen multigenerational ties and celebrate a community that continues well beyond graduation.

Family Day, a beloved annual celebration, is just one of many moments when we gather in camaraderie.

Fundraising events like Noche Puertorriqueña, the Golf Tournament, and the 5K Run help support our mission, while sports tournaments and pep rallies ignite Hurricane spirit. The student-led school musical productions are a yearly highlight, and our alumni stay connected through holiday parties and special events, maintaining lifelong bonds with SJS.

A VISION FOR TOMORROW

For over a century, Saint John’s School has been a beacon of academic achievement, ethical leadership, and joyful learning in the heart of Condado.

To ensure our campus reflects the same high standards as our academic and co-curricular programs, our classrooms, playgrounds, and common areas must inspire and empower our students to lead with curiosity, courage, and compassion in a rapidly changing world.

The Imagine the Possibilities Capital Campaign is our response. It is a transformative investment in our school’s future, where every student can thrive as a scholar, artist, athlete, and engaged citizen.
