THE LEGACY CONTINUES Each year at the Closing School Mass, Nazareth Academy takes a moment to honor those families who have chosen to continue their Nazareth legacy by sending their children to our beloved school. Both alum-parent and Class of 2016 graduate were invited to step forward, pass along the light from the alumni candle to their sons and daughters and receive a blessing from the congregation. On Sunday, May 29, 2016, the Class of 2016 gathered for the final time under one roof. Alongside faculty, staff, alumni, families and friends, the graduates gathered to celebrate, reflect, pray and most importantly, to go forth into the world. Class of 2016... There is no doubt...you are the light of the world!
We send you out from this holy place to raise up your hopes and dreams for a future built by your parents and their parents, the inspiring Sisters of St. Joseph, the incredible faculty and staff and all of the proud Alumni who have gone before you.
Class of 2016...You do not leave us… we send you.
We send you with great pride and full hearts knowing that wherever you go and whoever you will meet in your futures, you take a piece of all of us with you.

As a class, we have battled opponents on the field, court and rink and, even if we didn’t win, we walked away stronger and wiser. We have battled on the stage, conquering fear of failure and rising to each new challenge. We have battled in the classroom to do our best and make our parents proud. We have battled for our lives, through endless rounds of chemo and dangerous surgeries, and have become stronger because of them. So, as you remember our class, do not limit us to “the Class that won back-to-back State Championships,” but remember us as the class who beat cancer, the class who excelled inside and outside of the classroom, the class who lifted each other up instead of tearing each other down, the class who is willing to risk their own lives to protect the lives of others and the class who won back-to-back State Championships. -EXCERPTED FROM VALEDICTORIAN KATHLEEN MAZUR’S GRADUATION ADDRESS
