Some adventures begin in the wilderness. This one began around our family table.

N A T H A B C U LT U R A L J O U R N E Y S

For more than 40 years, as the founder of Natural Habitat Adventures, I've built journeys focused on the natural world. Then, a few years ago, over a home dinner of pasta and Brunello, my son Finlay proposed something completely different: He wanted to start his own travel company centered on culture. He said it would be a lot like Nat Hab, but focused on experiencing and preserving local traditions and heritage. As a nature guy, I was not convinced. When he suggested that he and I explore Tuscany by bicycle in late November so he could share more of his vision with me, I warmed to the idea. In Italy, we found villages that were nearly empty. There was the 85-year-old mother and her 50-year-old son who welcomed us into their tiny restaurant above the village tobacco shop—no menu, only their recommendations offered with passion in Italian. We met the owner of several beautifully restored villas who proudly shared the history of his village, and a young winemaker whose family's centuries-old winery was carved into the rock beneath a medieval hill town. Their stories became every bit as memorable as the landscapes and the flavors. On the flight home, Finlay sketched out a plan for his company—Terra & Tu Cultural Journeys. And I became its biggest champion. Over the next several years, he built a devoted following. These were intimate forays based on the belief that travel is most meaningful when it helps us understand the values and heritage that shape the lived experience of others, reminding us of our shared humanity. Since then, I've had more chances to participate in these distinctive small-group trips. I returned to Italy, visiting that small mother-and-son restaurant again. I traveled to Peru’s Sacred Valley, and to a remote village in Portugal’s

mountainous interior where I baked bread in a 500-yearold stone oven with a 95-year-old community matriarch. Those experiences reinforced what Finlay had been trying to tell me all along: Sometimes it's the people, even more than the places, who leave the deepest impression. This past year, Terra & Tu became part of the Natural Habitat Adventures family. It was a natural alliance. And while the name has evolved to become Nat Hab Cultural Journeys, the vision is the same: celebrating and sustaining the living cultures that give a place character and meaning. We think of it as another variation on our mission of conservation through exploration. And now, there are even greater resources to create the kinds of authentic, deeply personal experiences that first won me over on that bicycle ride through Tuscany. We are delighted to bring this collection of cultural adventures to you. Join us for tea in a family home in rural Japan, gather in a lively taverna for a traditional Greek meal, watch the stars with nomads in the Moroccan Sahara, and sail the Nile on a private luxury dahabiya—a traditional Egyptian sailing vessel—as we meet farmers and artisans along the way. Years from now, when you think back on your journey, it won't be a monument or a museum you'll remember most. It will be the people. We hope to see you out there,

Meaningful Connections with Local People Go Beyond the Surface into Personal Relationships Nat Hab Cultural Journeys create memorable bonds by bringing travelers beyond the surface of a destination into the everyday lives of its people. Small Groups Are Your Portal for Immersive Cultural Encounters With Nat Hab Cultural Journeys, every departure is intentionally kept small—almost always 12 travelers or less—because genuine cultural immersion simply isn't possible in a large group. This intimate scale opens doors to family homes, small studios, tiny trattorias, tuckedaway temples and other welcoming spaces bigger tours can't access. It also creates opportunities for genuine conversation, hands-on activities and unhurried exchanges with local hosts, while allowing greater flexibility and a slower pace. Rather than observing culture from the sidelines, you become part of it through personal interactions and respectful engagement that benefits both our guests and the communities we visit. With fewer travelers, we are also able to stay at small luxury accommodations, like private villas and boutique inns. Learn More: nathab.com/groups

Relaxed & Thoughtful Pacing Fosters Connection & Reflection If It’s Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium was a funny movie when it came out in 1969. But it’s not an optimal way to travel. Nat Hab Cultural Journeys take a different approach. Embracing the philosophy of Slow Travel, our itineraries intentionally give you time to absorb each experience instead of hurrying from one highlight to the next. Favoring personal encounters over packed schedules, you'll enjoy leisurely visits, extended meals, unscripted conversations, and time to linger in villages, vineyards, markets and landscapes. Small groups reduce the rush, while distinctive accommodations surround you with the character of a place. Rather than measuring a trip’s value by the sights you tick off on a checklist, our journeys foster deeper engagement, meaning and understanding. Learn More: nathab.com/pacing

Food & Wine as a Conduit to Culture Discover the Delights of Regional Gastronomy Eating and drinking on our journeys is about more than what’s on the table—culinary experiences connect us to culture, history and the people who keep local traditions alive. Rather than focusing on celebrated restaurants alone, our itineraries invite travelers into private kitchens, village bakeries, vineyards and farmsteads, where recipes, techniques and stories are passed down through generations. Share home-cooked meals with local hosts, learn regional cooking firsthand, taste wines and spirits with the people who produce them, and savor flavors rooted in the terroir around you. We are unable to provide translated pre-trip materials or translators during the trip. Dietary Restrictions & Allergies With ample notice, Nat Hab can generally accommodate common dietary restrictions on most of our trips, such as vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free (though it may not be possible to accommodate celiac disease—please ask an Adventure Specialist for more information), though limitations on food variety may exist. However, given the nature of adventure travel, and the often-remote nature of our trips, Nat Hab cannot guarantee that allergens or items on your restriction list will not be present at restaurants, accommodations or elsewhere during a trip. Ultimately, you must take responsibility for your own health and safety and understand that we cannot guarantee against cross-contamination or airborne transmission of allergens during the trip.

Please consult specific trip pages on our website for details. Family Travel & Age Limits Nat Hab welcomes families on certain trips and offers select scheduled family departures. On certain trips and most family departures, children 6 years and older are welcome. Due to safety regulations, physical limitations and concerns regarding group dynamics, we do not allow children younger than 6 on our trips. Additionally, some trips, or specific activities within a trip, have higher minimum age requirements. We strongly encourage you to call our office to speak with an Adventure Specialist about the specific requirements of the trip you’re considering so you can make an informed decision about your child’s participation. On all trips, the parent or legal guardian of children under age 18 must sign
