Important Note:

Our Linea collection has been designed to have irregular edges to give a rustic appeal. This will create small voids between some panels. If your application requires corners to be covered, apply these first. We suggest you prepare the wall by ensuring the colour of the wall is similar to the stone. This can be done by tinting the glue or mortar with an oxide. Check with your local glue supplier for warranty and terms.

Installation Tips:

• Linea has been designed for dry stack installation/presentation. When applying the panels keep the joints as tight as possible to retain the natural dry stone look.

• If your application requires corners to be covered, apply these first.

• After the corner pieces have been applied, apply the stone panels 1-2 layers at a time, working towards the centre.

• Colour, size and texture variation is essential aspect of a natural looking stone wall. Select stone from different boxes and lay out across your job site to ensure you gain this look. The visual effect will be enhanced by an overall natural mixed presentation.

Cutting the Stone Panels:

The stone panels can be cut or trimmed using a wet saw, hammer and bolster, wide mouth nippers or angle grinder with diamond blade attached.

Sealing:

To retain the original fresh quarried look, we suggest sealing the stone with Spirit Premium Seal. If you would like the stone to mellow slightly and gain the European look after years of harsh weathering, don’t seal the product.

Ezystone can also be installed around wet areas, however, continued exposure to chlorine and other chemicals may eventually affect the colouration of the products. When frequently exposed to water, we recommend protection with Spirit Premium Seal.

Corners: Calculate the lineal metres of corner stones required by measuring all external corners from top to bottom.

Please note 1 lineal metre of corners equates to approximately 0.2m2 of surface area. (deductible off bodies).

Corners: There are approx. 10 different shapes and sizes, each box contains a mixture of: Short Return Range: 70 - 120mm Long Return Range: 110 - 260mm

Capping: approx. width 280x300mm x length 490-510mm, thickness 35-45mm

Pier Caps: available sizing 390x390mm, thickness 50mm

Joint Width:

The Ridge collection has been designed to be installed with either a dry joint or an 8-12mm mortar/grout joint. When applying the stones, use timber or plastic dowels/wedges to keep the joints evenly spaced. Due to the nature of the product, stones will vary in size and may need extra wedges to allow for height variation.

Installation Tips:

• If your application requires corners, apply these first alternating the long and short return in opposite directions.

• After corner pieces have been applied, apply the bodies 1 layer at a time, working towards the edge/ centre.

Webbed Panel Sizes:

185-200mm high x 470-500mm long x 35-45mm thick

Individual stones attached to the webbing vary in sizes:

• Height: approx. 40, 80, 100, 120, 160, & 200mm

• Length: random ranging from 50mm - 500mm

Individual Stones Are Held Together with Flexible Webbing:

Sample Installation Pattern - like brick work, avoid straight vertical lines when applying the webbed panels.

Installing with Dry Joint:

Please ensure either the wall or adhesive are a dark colour before starting. This can be done by purchasing a dark tile adhesive or tinting adhesive mortar with black oxide. This will help cast a shadow between stones giving a deep solid dry stone look. Take time once the pattern is laid to cut thin stones to fill small gaps between the larger joints. This is very important, it will break up the pattern and provide the perfect hand cradted stone masonry look.

Installing with Mortar Joint:

Pointing mortar or tile grout can be used to fill the joints. One of the easiest and fastest way to fill the joints is with a piping gun or piping bag.

Sealing:

To retain the original fresh quarried look, we suggest sealing the stone with Spirit Premium Seal. If you would like the stone to mellow slightly and gain the European look after years of harsh weathering, don’t seal the product.

1.3 SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

1. All substrates must be structurally sound, dry, solid and stable. Any laitance, dust, grease, oil, paint or curing compounds present on the surface of the concrete substrate that may inhibit bond, shall be mechanically removed. The substrate should then be cleaned and prepared in accordance with the relevant standards and as per the MAPEI technical data sheets (TDS).

2. Substrates such as plasterboard, fibre cement boards, and plywood are generally not suitable in external environments. Some proprietary sheets may be suitable, but it is imperative that advice from the manufacturer is sought. There may be limits such as th e height of installation, weight of tiling, degree of exposure to weather, and the need for mechanical fixing.

3. It is advisable to use mechanical fixings, such as metal angles or pin fixings, where the tile/stone is to be applied at a wall height exceeding 3 m above the ground with a stone/tile mass greater than 32 kg/m2 or a size of 600 x 600 mm or larger.

1.6 ADHESIVE

Adhesive to be chosen from the following options:

WORK METHOD STATEMENT

Stone System – External & Internal

Installation of EzyStone Cladding

• APPLICATION

 Prepare and mix adhesive in strict accordance to the packaging and TDS.

 To ensure good adhesion, apply with pressure a thin coat of the adhesive with the straight edge of the trowel. Immediately follow this with a layer of adhesive at the correct thickness using a suitable notched trowel in straight lines

 Adhesive should also be pressure applied to the back of the tile/stone with a thin coat using the straight edge of the trowel ( back-buttering).

 Ensure the adhesive stays “ fresh” and does not form a skin, especially in hot environments, prior to the application of the tile/stone.

 Place the tile/stone firmly into position wet -on-wet with a slight back and forward motion perpendicular to the trowel lines to collapse the notches.

 It is recommended to periodically remove and assess adhesive coverage. Continue if acceptable, otherwise reassess trowel and application technique.

1.7 GROUT

• NOTE: To estimate the consumption rate according to specific project data, use the MAPEI GROUTS AND SEALANTS CALCULATOR

Grout to be chosen from the following options:

A. KERACOLOR RANGE - ☐

High performance, polymer -modified, cement-base grouts.

B. ULTRACOLOR PLUS - ☐

- BEST SOLUTION

High-performance, anti-efflorescence, quick-setting and drying polymer-modified mortar with water-repellent technology

• APPLICATION:

 Mix the grout and fill the joints completely using a grouting gun, an appropriate trowel or rubber float. Ensuring the joints are completely compacted with no unevenness.

 When the stone/tile has a rough surface texture, it is recommended to avoid applying the grout over the entire surface of the stone to minimise and facilitate the cleaning procedure.

 Remove excess grout while still fresh from the surface of the tile/stone by moving the float diagonally across the joints.

 KERACOLOR RANGE & ULTRACOLOR PLUS: When the grout loses plasticity and becomes opaque, clean excess grout with a hard, damp sponge working diagonal to the joints. Rinse sponge regularly using clean water.

1.8 SILICONE

A. MAPESIL LM - ☐

Neutral mould resistant silicone sealant for stone and marble.

• APPLICATION

 Movement joints should be installed in accordance with AS 3958.1.
