President’s Report
By Andy Derr, M.H. Eby, Inc.
A sold out NATM Convention & Trade Show is always a good foot to start the year on. Fort Worth did not disappoint, and it was great seeing the industry come together. Thank you to everyone who attended, exhibited, and sponsored this key industry event. From new offerings like the Bacon & Brilliance: Association Update and Awards Brunch to staple events like the President’s Reception, I hope you utilized the opportunities well and went home with new connections, knowledge, and energy for the year to come.
While we started on a high note, the Association events are far from over for the year. Up next, we will be gathering in Washington, D.C., to meet with Congressional representatives and their staff for Regulatory Roundup. Roundup is crucial in making the industry heard with key decision makers in Washington. Each year this event reinforces connections we’ve already made on the Hill as well as fostering ones with new faces.
Then trailering season will take off with the warm weather, and that means bringing safety into focus. The 9th annual Trailer Safety Week (TSW) kicks off June 7-13, and we are expecting more buzz than ever.
TSW has been federally recognized for an impressive three consecutive years. The social media safety sharing campaign has grown year after year, and it wouldn’t be possible without a lot of background work by NATM Staff and the willingness of the membership to share and educate others. We can’t wait to see members’ passion for the safety of their communities and our nation’s roadways.
As we look ahead, NATM’s momentum continues to build through advocacy, education, and an unwavering commitment to safety. We look forward to connecting with members throughout the year as we work together to strengthen our industry, amplify our voice, and keep safety at the forefront of everything we do. ■

Headquarters REPORT
By Alex Stowe, NATM Executive Director
Early signs of spring are finally starting to show up at headquarters. As always, Fort Worth proved to be an excellent location for NATM’s Convention & Trade Show. Our 2025 NATM Convention & Trade Show was incredibly successful, and I am thankful to NATM Staff, exhibitors, and attendees for helping to bring our industry together to continue our mission of promoting trailer safety and the overall success of the trailer manufacturing industry. This event also serves to welcome our new members of the Board (turn to Page 44 for more information) and new committee members (turn to Page 48 for more information).
As we head into warmer months, our industry traditionally sees an upturn in both production and sales. With more trailers hitting the road, NATM will be placing a strong emphasis on trailer safety as end-users return to fullseason travel and hauling. Along with the seasonal thaw, NATM’s Compliance Team will be back on the road, visiting members and conducting Compliance Verification Program consultations throughout the year. These consultations are designed to help ensure trailers meet program requirements and uphold minimum safety standards.
NATM also will continue working closely with dealers to help them better connect with end- users and support safe trailer use. Strengthening these relationships remains a key priority as we look for new ways to share safety-focused resources and messaging across the industry.
Since dealers became eligible to join NATM as affiliate members, the Association has rolled out several valuable resources to support them. One standout is the Knowledge Center, a collection of guides, templates, best practices, and toolkits to streamline and improve dealer business. This year also marks an exciting milestone with the launch of two dedicated dealer committees—one focused on business operations and the
other on training and technical challenges dealers face.
NATM continues to add content to our online resource library that provides members and Dealer Affiliates with access to technical materials and business management tools, including archived educational articles and on-demand webinars. Notably, the library highlights ways dealers can leverage NATM Compliance as a sales tool. Behind the scenes, NATM Staff continue to explore new ways to engage Dealer Affiliates and ensure their membership delivers real, ongoing value.
NATM’s efforts to promote safe trailering and regulatory compliance extend beyond manufacturers and dealers. The Association will host its 9th annual Trailer Safety Week (TSW) from June 7–13, 2026. NATM is always looking to expand partnerships and enhance content curated by industry experts, and there are plenty of ways to get involved. Trailer Safety Week offers three levels of participation: Allies, Champions, and Partners. Reach more about TSW participation on Page 26.
Allies can sign up online and receive a marketing kit with ready-to-use materials for social media and customer communications. Champions take things a step further by committing to online engagement and customer outreach and receive added brand promotion. The Partner level is reserved for industry experts who contribute educational content within their area of expertise. I hope you’ll consider joining us in making roadways safer by signing up at TrailerSafetyWeek.com/Interest.
Overall, 2026 is off to a strong start, and the Association has a lot planned for members and Dealer Affiliates. New committees are already underway with goals aimed at advancing the industry and furthering NATM’s mission. As the Association continues to grow, NATM Staff remain committed to ensuring members and affiliates are aware of, and able to take full advantage of the many resources available to them. ■

What Businesses Need to Know About the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and the 2026 Tax Season
By Brody Garland, K&L Gates
Significant changes are coming to the way businesses file their taxes, driven by new provisions enacted under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA). With the 2026 tax season now underway, companies of all sizes should be aware that several long-standing rules have been revised or replaced—affecting deductions, reporting requirements, and overall tax planning strategies. Understanding these updates will be essential to ensure compliance and to make the most of new benefits now available under the law.
The OBBBA represents one of the most consequential tax overhauls in recent years, carrying major implications for businesses across the country. By updating, expanding, or replacing several longstanding provisions in the tax code, the OBBBA reshaped how companies plan, report, and claim key deductions—ranging from interest expenses and
R&D costs to bonus depreciation and childcare credits. As these changes take effect, business owners should understand not only the opportunities the new law creates but also the compliance considerations that come with it.
Here are some notable changes that may impact your tax filing:
Business Interest Deduction
Under current law, businesses generally cannot deduct all of their interest expenses at once and are capped at about 30% of income, with any excess pushed into future years. That income cap is based on “adjusted taxable income,” which essentially includes earnings before interest, taxes, and most depreciation. OBBBA modified the limitation on business
interest expense deductions under Internal Revenue Code (IRS) §163(j) by applying a more favorable definition of adjusted taxable income for purposes of calculating the deduction.
Floor Plan Financing Deduction
The OBBBA includes a targeted change to the floor plan financing deduction that will provide significant benefit to trailer and camper dealers. By expanding the definition of “floor plan financing” under §163(j) to include any trailer or camper designed for temporary living quarters and intended to be towed by or affixed to a motor vehicle, the OBBA allows these products to qualify for the more favorable treatment historically reserved for motor vehicles. For dealers, this means expanded access to the full business interest deduction on their inventory financing—reducing taxable income, improving cash flow, and easing the financial burden of carrying diverse trailer and camper stock. This adjustment modernizes the tax code to reflect how these products are sold and financed, offering welcome relief to an industry that relies heavily on revolving inventory loans.
Pass-Through Business Income
Unlike corporate income, passthrough business income—such as income from partnerships, LLCs, S corporations, or sole proprietorships—is taxed at the individual owner’s rates. The 2017 tax law allowed these businesses to deduct up to 20 percent of their qualified business income, which the OBBBA permanently extends and increases to 23 percent starting in tax year 2026.
Overtime Deduction
Under current law, overtime pay is included in gross income and subject to federal income and payroll taxes. The OBBBA allows a temporary deduction for overtime compensation for tax years 2025 through 2028, modeled on the tipped income deduction but excluding qualified tips.
Research & Development
The research and development tax break lets businesses deduct certain research costs, including facility expenses. The 2017 tax law changed this treatment by requiring companies, starting in tax year 2022, to spread deductions for R&D costs over five years for domestic research and 15 years for foreign research instead of deducting them immediately. The OBBBA reverses that change and allows businesses to fully deduct
domestic R&D expenses in the year they are paid or incurred.
Depreciation Deductions
Before the 2017 tax law, businesses could immediately deduct certain costs for qualifying depreciable property. That law phased out the 100 percent bonus depreciation rate by gradually reducing it, ultimately eliminating it after 2026. The OBBBA permanently restores the bonus depreciation deduction under §168(k), allowing full expensing of certain qualified business property acquired and placed in service after January 19, 2025. Qualified property includes various types of machinery and equipment.
Employer-Provided Child Care Credit
The OBBBA permanently increases the maximum nonrefundable child care credit for businesses to $500,000, up from $150,000, and raises the share of eligible expenses that can be claimed from 25 percent to 40 percent. Small businesses are allowed to claim up to 50 percent of eligible child care costs, with a higher credit cap of $600,000. Payments to thirdparty child care providers qualify as child care spending.
Contractor Payments Reporting
Under current law, businesses must report payments of $600 or more made to independent contractors. The OBBBA raises the reporting threshold on Forms 1099NEC and 1099MISC to $2,000, with the threshold indexed for inflation starting after 2026.
De Minimis Exemption
The tax package eliminates the de minimis exemption, which previously allowed commercial goods valued under $800 to enter the United States without tariffs. While the exemption was already ended for imports from China and Hong Kong by executive order in April 2025, the OBBBA repeals it worldwide effective July 1, 2027, and impose penalties for noncompliance.
As businesses navigate the changes introduced by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, staying proactive will be essential. The updates to deductions, reporting thresholds, and credit structures offer meaningful opportunities, but they also require careful planning to ensure compliance and maximize potential benefits. By understanding these provisions early and adjusting tax strategies accordingly, business owners can position themselves for a smoother filing process and take full advantage of the relief and flexibility the new law provides. ■
NATM Political Action Committee
By Alex Stowe, NATM Executive Director
The National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM) established a Political Action Committee, the NATM PAC, in 2010. The NATM PAC serves to support Members of Congress who support the light- and medium-duty trailer industry and its positions on matters of public policy.
Campaign finance law requires NATM to secure “prior approval” from member companies before soliciting member companies’ executive and administrative personnel, stockholders, and the families of both groups. Member companies may not approve solicitations by more than one trade association in any calendar year. If, on behalf of the company you are authorized to represent, you would like to grant prior approval for the administrative personnel, stockholders, and the families of both groups of your company to be solicited by NATM in calendar year 2025, please complete the prior approval agreement online
using the QR code on this page. Individuals who serve as the company owner, CEO, COO, vice president or senior executives are authorized to sign this form on behalf of his or her company.
Since its inception, over 60 individuals have contributed to the PAC raising nearly $140,000 and those dollars have contributed to more than 80 incumbent campaign committees on both sides of the aisle. The PAC is governed by a Board of Directors comprised entirely of NATM members. The PAC Board is responsible for developing both an annual budget and confirming candidates to whom the PAC will contribute based on specific, established criteria. Having the PAC Board comprised of industry members is a key feature of assuring PAC goals align with industry needs.
To learn more about the PAC, contact NATM PAC Treasurer Alex Stowe at Alex.Stowe@natm.com. ■

Take Your Impact Further as Trailer Safety Week Champions and Partners
By Klaire Perez, NATM Marketing Coordinator
The National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM) knows improving trailer safety nationwide takes more than just a name on a list. It takes initiative, collaboration, and a shared commitment to education. For those looking to deepen their involvement for Trailer Safety Week (TSW), there are further opportunities than just signing up to be a Trailer Safety Week Ally. Becoming a Trailer Safety Week Champion or Partner offers a chance to make a lasting and measurable impact on roadway safety.
Trailer Safety Week Champions: Leading the Safety Movement
TSW Champions are companies that go above and beyond to amplify safety messaging and extend the reach of the campaign. While TSW includes Allies from across the country, Champions are simply Allies that take a more active role by consistently sharing educational content, engaging their audiences, and helping NATM measure the campaign’s overall reach.
Champions commit to promoting TSW across multiple channels, including their websites, social media platforms, and email communications. Following the campaign, Champions complete the official TSW Champion Reach Report, which helps NATM better understand how far the safety message traveled and where it made the greatest impact. This level of participation not only strengthens the campaign but also demonstrates a clear commitment to safety leadership within the industry.

NATM Debuts 2025 Guidelines
By Scott Crimmins, NATM Technical Director
The National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM), known as the resource for safety and compliance for the light- and medium-duty trailer industry, has published the 2025 edition of Guidelines for Recommended Manufacturing Practices for Light- and MediumDuty Trailers, also known as Guidelines. This is after a thorough annual review by NATM Staff and members of the Compliance Committee combing through the over 150 citations of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs) for updates since last year. This massive document takes the guesswork out of meeting federal requirements governing the manufacturing of trailers under 26,000 lbs. GVWR and is a benefit of NATM membership.
Building trailers to meet the federal regulations outlined in the NATM Guidelines is the law. But it can be very time-intensive for trailer manufacturers to research the numerous federal rules, regulations, standards, and accepted industry practices that govern trailer construction.
NATM addresses this by compiling the Guidelines for Recommended Manufacturing Practices for Light- and MediumDuty Trailers. The document consists of nearly 500 pages of laws, regulations, rules, standards, and industry best practices. While NATM’s Compliance Verification Program (CVP) focuses more on federal regulation, the Association provides additional individual regarding state trailering laws on safety chains and brakes not found in the federal laws.
The 2025 edition of Guidelines saw a thorough review of Section E3 pertaining to trailer manufacturer and dealer licensing requirements by state. The NATM Warning Labels section (B9-10 through B9-14) was also updated to reflect the latest offerings available, which now include labels that warn consumers of the appropriate cargo weight distribution to
prevent loss of control. Those labels came about through the discussion of NATM’s Technical Committee, the approval of the Executive Board, and Dec-O-Art’s design.
Members report substantial time savings by utilizing the Guidelines, particularly on the topics of lighting and reflectors, VIN and data plates, gross vehicle weight ratings, and state brake requirements. While the Guidelines focus on U.S. regulations, many may have an interest in Canadian compliance. For more information, visit Transport Canada’s website at www.tc.gc.ca/en/transport-canada.html.
NATM assists its trailer manufacturing members in avoiding costly fines and decreasing liability related to trailer compliance through the NATM CVP. The CVP is an unbiased, third-party audit of the trailer manufacturing process and uses the Guidelines as the backbone for the program. The CVP provides biennial on-site consultations to trailer manufacturers and technical assistance throughout the entire process to ensure companies are manufacturing trailers consistent with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS), Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Standards, and other industry best practices.
Once a trailer manufacturer has successfully passed the Compliance Verification Program, the company is able to purchase NATM Decals and market their company’s dedication to fulfilling their safety requirements by participating in an unbiased, third-party audit of their trailers.
For more information about how NATM can assist your trailer manufacturing company, visit NATM.com, email NATMHQ@natm.com, or call (785) 272-4433. Members logged into their Compass page can download the Guidelines at NATM.com/Natm-Guidelines. ■

Stop Paying for Clicks: Why Organic Local SEO Matters More Than Ever
By Ginger Baker-Sanhueza, NATM Programming Director
As part of its continued effort to expand educational offerings beyond technical and compliance topics, the National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM) kicked off the year with a marketing-focused webinar held on Jan. 15, 2026. The session, Stop Paying for Clicks: Win with Organic Local SEO, reflects a growing recognition that effective marketing is just as critical to long-term success as building a quality trailer. The webinar was presented by the team at Rainman Digital and focused on helping trailer manufacturers, suppliers, and dealers better understand how organic search strategies can drive sustainable growth in an increasingly competitive digital landscape.
Two Different Approaches to Online Visibility
The webinar began by outlining the two primary ways businesses appear in Google search results: paid advertising and organic search rankings. Paid ads can offer immediate visibility, but that exposure lasts only as long as the advertising budget remains active. Once spending stops, so does traffic. Organic SEO takes a different approach. While it requires time and consistency, organic rankings build authority and visibility that continue to deliver value long after the initial effort. This long-term return on investment was positioned as a key advantage for businesses looking to reduce reliance on costly ongoing ad spend.
Why Buyers Trust Organic Results
Another important theme explored during the session was how buyers interact with search results. Many users instinctively skip over paid ads, viewing them as overly promotional or irrelevant to their specific needs. Organic listings, by contrast, tend to feel more credible and trustworthy. When a business appears naturally in search results—especially alongside positive reviews—it signals relevance and reliability. This trust factor plays a major role in purchasing decisions and can significantly influence
whether a potential customer chooses to engage.
Building Credibility Through SEO
The presenters emphasized that SEO is about more than rankings alone. Strong organic performance helps establish credibility by reinforcing a business’s professionalism and reliability. Reviews, certifications, secure website indicators, and recognizable affiliations all contribute to building confidence before a customer ever makes contact. For trailer manufacturers and dealers, these trust signals help differentiate their businesses in a crowded marketplace where buyers are often comparing multiple options online.
Local SEO Starts with Google Business Profiles
A significant portion of the webinar focused on local SEO, beginning with Google Business Profiles. These profiles were presented as essential tools for improving local visibility, particularly in Google Maps and location-based searches. Rather than treating them as static listings, businesses were encouraged to actively manage their profiles by keeping information current and engaging with customer reviews. When Google Business Profiles align closely with website content, they send consistent signals that help improve both visibility and trust.
Consistency Matters More Than You Think
The session also highlighted the importance of consistency across all digital platforms, particularly when it comes to a business’ name, address, and phone number. Even small discrepancies can confuse potential customers and negatively impact search rankings. Maintaining uniform information across websites, directories, and social platforms helps reinforce credibility while making it easier for customers to find and contact a business.
Your Website Still Does the Heavy Lifting
While local listings play an important role, the presenters stressed that a well-optimized website remains the foundation of any successful SEO strategy. Websites should clearly answer customer questions, communicate the company’s story, and highlight what sets the business apart. Pages that explain services, share company background, and showcase awards or partnerships help build trust while supporting stronger search performance. When designed thoughtfully, a website does more than attract visitors—it converts interest into inquiries.
Measuring Progress Without Paying for Every Click
To understand whether SEO efforts are working, the webinar encouraged businesses to regularly review website analytics. By examining where traffic originates, which pages attract the most attention, and where visitors are located, companies can confirm they are reaching the right audience. These insights help guide future improvements while demonstrating the value of organic traffic that continues to grow without ongoing advertising costs.
“The January Webinar “Stop Paying for Clicks: Win with Organic Local SEO” hit the nail on the head. SEO has been overlooked by many companies but as AI continues to grow and change, so does SEO. This intro presentation simplified the subject and gave great tips and ideas on how to get started.”
A Strategic Start to the Year
By opening the year with a marketing-focused webinar, NATM signaled its commitment to helping members strengthen all aspects of their businesses—not just production and compliance. The January 15th session reinforced that organic local SEO is a long-term strategy that rewards consistency, credibility, and thoughtful digital presence. For trailer manufacturers, suppliers, and dealers looking to build sustainable growth in 2026 and beyond, marketing education is becoming an increasingly important part of the conversation. If you missed the webinar, you can view a recording on the NATM Member Compass website. If there are any topics that you would like to learn more about, email NATM Programming Director Ginger Baker-Sanhueza at Ginger.BakerSanhueza@natm.com. ■
The Sustainability Corner Aligning Circular Manufacturing, Industrial Innovation
By Maddie Carlson, Shapiro Sustainability and Impact Manager
Innovation in manufacturing is constant. Engineers develop lighter materials, designers select better components, and new processes introduce automation. These advances help manufacturers stay competitive and meet changing customer needs. But one key question is often overlooked: what happens to these products at the end of their use?
People often judge innovation by how well something works, how efficient it is, or how much money it saves. They rarely think about what happens when a product is used up or its byproducts. If recovery, reuse, or proper processing are ignored, manufacturers may solve shortterm problems but create long-term waste issues. To truly close the loop, we need to see progress as both strong performance and responsible end-of-life planning.
Closing the loop is more than a marketing term or a catchphrase about sustainability. It’s a real manufacturing strategy that links innovation with material recovery. If a material can’t be reused or processed at the end of its life, we have to ask: Is this really progress, or are we just passing the problem along?
Closing the loop means going beyond the old way of extracting, producing, using, and discarding. This linear approach wastes natural resources and limits how long we can continue producing. A circular approach keeps materials in use for as long as possible by recovering and reusing them in manufacturing without significant loss of quality or utility.
Recycling is one way to support a circular system. Using recycled materials can reduce the need for new resources and help keep supply chains steady. It’s not just about dealing with waste after the fact but designing systems that plan for recovery from the start.
New materials such as composites, multi-material parts, specialized coatings, and hybrids have delivered significant improvements. They make products lighter, stronger, and easier to produce. But often, these innovations are created without a clear idea of what to do with them once they’re no longer useful.
Manufacturers often select materials before there are effective ways to recycle or process them at the end of their life cycle. This gap means valuable materials might be downcycled or sent to landfills. Some advanced materials are difficult to separate once combined and are not compatible with current recycling equipment and systems. While these materials may perform well, they can cause new problems over their full life cycle.
Innovation should expand its scope. Performance gains should be evaluated alongside recoverability, processing feasibility, and long-term material value. Without that balance, manufacturers risk solving one problem while creating another.
To close this gap, manufacturers need to consider endof-life options early. It’s helpful to ask practical questions during the design phase: Can this material be recovered at scale? Is there infrastructure to process it responsibly? How will it fit with current recycling systems? Planning with these questions in mind helps avoid problems later.
Ultimately, progress in manufacturing cannot be measured by innovation alone. As new materials, technologies, and processes reshape the industry, they must be developed with equal consideration for their environmental and social impacts. True advancement happens when efficiency, resilience, and sustainability move together, not in competition. The manufacturers that will lead the next era are those willing to ask harder questions about their byproducts, supply chains, and long-term footprint, and then take meaningful action based on the answers.
This is where partnership matters. At Shapiro, we work alongside manufacturers to turn sustainability from an abstract goal into a practical, data-driven strategy. Whether it is identifying new recycling opportunities, improving material recovery, or uncovering cost savings from waste reduction, our role is to help companies navigate complexity and deliver measurable, lasting progress. Sustainability is not a one-size-fitsall solution, but with the right support, it can become a powerful driver of innovation, accountability, and long-term value.

NATM’s New Dealer Committees Expand Industry Collaboration
By NATM Staff
The National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM) is blown away by the involvement and passion of NATM Dealer Affiliates. They were the fastest growing segment of the Association in 2025!
To better accommodate their increased presence in the Association, NATM doubled the number of dealer specific committees! NATM is excited to introduce the Dealer Training & Technical Committee and the Dealer Business Operations Committee.
NATM’s dealer committees are designed to give trailer dealers a strong voice in the Association and to shape the future of dealer-focused initiatives, education, and resources. To optimize each committee member’s expertise, the original dealer committee is expanding and will be divided into two, more focused committees.
Each committee has unique goals, and together, they ensure that NATM’s dealer programs, events, and resources reflect the real-world needs of trailer dealers.
Dealer Training & Technical Committee
This committee will guide NATM’s educational and technical programming for dealers, ensuring resources, training, and events are relevant and provide value to NATM Dealer Affiliates. › Provide input on technical and training resources for the NATM Academy
› Recommend topics for further education for webinars, workshops, and hands-on training that will be utilized for events such as Trailer Safety Week
Dealer Business Operations Committee
This committee will support the business and management side of trailer dealerships, focusing on profitability, efficiency, and long-term growth strategies.
Key Responsibilities:

› Provide insight into market trends, economic factors, and consumer preferences impacting dealers
› Assist in developing NATM resources such as business toolkits, playbooks, and benchmarking data
› Recommend panel and roundtable topics that foster dealer-to-dealer learning and best practice sharing

Dealers Speak: The Blasers on the Trailer Expo and the Value of NATM
By Izabella Chesney, NATM Marketing Specialist
The National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM) hosted the Trailer Expo in 2025, a show heavily shaped by the Dealer Committee. In addition to helping select educational offerings and setting priorities, Committee Member Greg Blaser and his wife Debbie sat down with NATM Staff at the Trailer Expo to continue the Dealer Committee interview series.
The Blasers, owners of Trailer World of Oregon in Silverton, Oregon, have long been supporters of NATM and have been a source of amazing insights into the dealer side of the lightand medium-duty trailer industry. Their flagship location is Trailer World of Oregon: a 10,000-square-foot building with a large retail area and four shop bays. The Blasers obtained Trailer World of Oregon in 2011, a company that has been in operation since 1980. They offer a vast range of products, from trailers and truck beds to portable saw mills, tractors, and vital parts for repairs, customization, and servicing.
Why NATM?
The Blasers’ shared their thoughts on NATM and what inspired their participation in the Dealer Committee.
Greg shared how he was excited to hear of NATM, and its mission to support the trailer industry, and how crucial it was to have dealers representing dealers.
“When the thought that we could have an organization that was made up of people in our business that could be run by the people and answer to all the people in the industry. That was what intrigued me. That was what I think is needed for this industry desperately,” Greg said.
They connected with the Association even more once they heard that trailer safety is its mission. The Blasers value trailer safety and want every customer leaving their shop to practice it regularly.
“Safety is so important. We always try to portray that to our customers and our staff. Our families are on the road, and if someone is towing a trailer, we want our families and your
families to be safe. We knew that NATM was focusing on trailer builds and wanted to ensure all manufacturers were consistent in their work and adhered to safety guidelines. We’ve been trying to find an organization that makes that a priority and one that’s a not-for-profit organization that’s just focusing on the trailer industry, and that’s the primary focus,” Debbie said.
Greg joined the Dealer Committee with the desire to see a Trailer Expo agenda that benefited all dealers in the industry. Safety is one of the major issues that he’s seen in this line of work. From improper welding practices to customers’ lack of knowledge and experience, Greg wanted to make sure he could share his concerns with manufacturers. While Trailer World of Oregon has always done their due diligence to ensure every customer has reviewed the list of safety concerns and need-toknows, there is only so much one can prepare a customer for.
Greg also wanted to help start a standard among dealerships throughout the industry. The need for standardization has been an ongoing topic among the Dealer Committee. A way to ensure all customers, no matter the location, receive a standard of customer service and care — where customers leave knowing the needs and limitations of their trailers, and where safety is at the forefront of each customer’s mind.
What Benefits for Dealers Would You Highlight?
From NATM Academy, NATM Connect, and so much more, Greg and Debbie are huge fans of the benefits they receive as Dealer Affiliates. They appreciate that the Academy was put in place, where people can watch classes and learn more about the industry.
It’s also a nice perk to hop onto the dealer-exclusive online forum, NATM Connect, and reach out to like-minded dealers across the country. By asking questions and helping each other at Forum.NATM.com, they both find it a huge benefit to see what’s working for other dealers in the industry. The Trailer Expo has been something Greg has been passionate about since day one of joining NATM. Bringing together one show for dealers, suppliers, and manufacturers to come together.
Trailer Expo Experience
The NATM Dealer Committee played a significant role in the formation of the Trailer Expo. It was committee members like Greg who helped make the dream a reality. With countless hours of work and ideas, and by sharing dealers’ needs with one another, NATM built an event for dealers that was made by dealers.
Both Debbie and Greg appreciated all the work that went into the educational programming. It was exciting to see all their hard work come to fruition and experience it firsthand.
“The education was absolutely outstanding. What I love about it is I, as a dealer, was asked, ‘What do you want to see in education?’ and there are classes there that I asked for.”
The education wasn’t the only thing that was a hit for them; they also enjoyed the networking aspect. They were able to really take the time to connect and converse with manufacturers and other dealers.
“Other industry shows can get really crowded, and the focus isn’t where the focus needs to be. I think this is the show where we can all come together as an industry and focus on what’s important. As a dealer, if you are deciding on where to invest your money for next year, which shows to attend, which education to be a part of, I really think that the NATM dealer show is worthwhile in researching and considering for your budget next year.”
NATM is forever indebted to the amazing work the committees do. It is possible because members and Dealer Affiliates come together to improve the trailer industry. It’s good, hard-working families like the Blasers who help NATM work towards its mission of advocacy and road safety. NATM is excited to see what the dealer committees do this year and all the amazing benefits and opportunities available through the Association! ■

NATM Compliance Team Sets Record Pace in 2025
The National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM) Compliance Team saw their busiest year yet in 2025. Comprised of Technical Director Scott Crimmins, Compliance Manager Sean Sloan, Senior Compliance Consultant Aaron Langer, and Compliance Consultant Todd Stallbaumer the NATM Compliance Team completed 288 Compliance Verification Program (CVP) Consultations – the most to be completed in a year.
“CVP consultations are integral to NATM’s mission of promoting trailer safety. The work of Scott, Sean, Aaron, and Todd to conduct 288 manufacturer member consultations over the course of the year to help ensure our members have processes in place to adhere to both federal laws and industry adopted best practices is amazing. To be able to set
a record in a year when NATM launched new programming that had the compliance team off the road for the better part of a month, with the launch of the inaugural Trailer Expo, shows just how dedicated the compliance team is to ensuring our manufacturer members are getting value out of the Compliance Verification Program. Thank you to the entire compliance team and our members for helping make sure NATM is doing all it can to self-police and promote safety in this great industry,” said Alex Stowe, NATM Executive Director.
The team is constantly on the move visiting trailer manufacturer members all across the country to ensure member manufacturers have the processes in place to build trailers in accordance with federal safety regulations and industry best practices. Before heading to member facilities, the

consultants work through regional scheduling to make the most of each trip and pre-visit paperwork. Once they are back home, there’s post-visit paperwork and corrections to follow up on and file. Then, the process starts all over again for their next trip.
The CVP is a cornerstone of the Association. The program begins with the Guidelines for Minimum Recommended Manufacturing Practices (Guidelines). The Guidelines are a compilation of applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, regulations, and industry best practices – all found in one easy-to-use, organized compendium. The Guidelines aim to create easy access to reference materials and federal regulations with which trailer manufacturers are required to comply.
Through the CVP, it is the mission of NATM to educate member manufacturers on those requirements set forth by governing bodies. With this free flow of information and open lines of communication, NATM Members are provided with access to resources and information that can often be time-consuming and difficult to compile on their own.
Consultations, done for each trailer manufacturing company every two years, feature an extensive checklist of items, all pulled from the Guidelines. A key component of the
program is that an independent third party from NATM, knowledgeable in the requirements, conducts the consultation.
The process is collaborative, and the goal is to help members build safe, federally compliant trailers. Members won’t feel blindsided or unprepared for consultations with all the NATM resources available.
The Guidelines for Minimum Recommended Manufacturing Practices
Members undergo a consultation every two years. The consultation features an extensive checklist of items, all pulled from the Guidelines.
The Guidelines are updated annually to ensure you always have the most accurate information. Members report substantial time savings by utilizing the Guidelines, particularly on the topics of lighting and reflectors, VIN and data plates, gross vehicle weight ratings, and state brake requirements. To access Guidelines, visit NATM.com/NATM-Guidelines. Be sure you are signed into your Member Compass!
NATM Academy

CVP Team
The most valuable resource the Association has is the Compliance Team themselves. With a combined 22 years of experience, this team knows compliance. When they’re not on the road, the team is holding internal compliance meetings, collaborating with the Compliance and Technical Committees, running compliance reports, and fielding member questions and concerns.
A CVP Consultation doesn’t feel like a test. It’s a chance for members to have invaluable one-on-one time
with industry compliance experts. They’re an asset to the Association and the member companies.
CVP Convention Workshop 2026
Attendees of the 2026 NATM Convention & Trade Show got extra face-to-face time with the NATM Compliance Team in Fort Worth. “CVP Failures and Trailer Technology Workshop,” led by Crimmins, saw practical compliance support blend with forward-looking insights into automation, electrification, smart technology, and more.
Time and time again, the Association hears how being able to discuss the CVP and ask questions in real time sets members up for success. NATM prioritizes CVP sessions at its events so that before your CVP Consultation even begins, you can ask questions in real time and be better educated on the process and expectations.
A record year like 2025 doesn’t happen by accident. It reflects the dedication, expertise, and tireless travel of the NATM Compliance Team — and the commitment of member manufacturers who prioritize safety and compliance. As the program continues to grow, the CVP remains a defining strength of the Association, setting members up for success today while raising the bar for the trailer industry well into the future. ■
Board of Directors Announced for 2026-2029 Term
By Alex Stowe, NATM Executive Director
For 39 years, the National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM) has been fortunate to be guided by committed, forward-thinking Boards of Directors. It is these visionary Boards that pushed for the development of the Compliance Verification Program, determined the need for government affairs representation in Washington, D.C., incorporated trailer dealers into the Association through the Dealer Affiliate Program, and developed fiscal policies that ensured NATM had the reserves to weather recessions and even the pandemic.
NATM’s Board of Directors is comprised of 18 to 19 individuals (this variance in size is related to Board terms as dictated by the Bylaws), 12-13 trailer manufacturers, four suppliers or service providers to the industry, one tow vehicle OEM, and new this year, one voting trailer dealer. These individuals are nominated by their peers and before advancing to the ballot, each nominee’s qualifications, including industry experience and participation in the Association, are reviewed by the nomination’s committee and a slate of candidates
is prepared for election by the membership.
Split into three classes with rolling term expirations, roughly one-third of Board seats are up for election each year. The 2026-2029 term of the NATM Board of Directors, as elected by the membership will include the return of Bill O’Hara (Dexter), Chris Lago (All American Trailer Connection), and Johnathan Bradley (Liberty Trailers). Additionally, the membership has elected four new Board members: Charles Daugherty (Red Fern Dynamics), Dave McKee (ATW), Jacob Crabb (Diamond C), and Marcus Hester (EMCO).
These new Board members will officially join their peers on Feb. 23, 2026. The Association is looking forward to continuing its work with these new and returning Board members! As always, the NATM Board of Directors is interested in and open to member feedback. While members are encouraged to reach out to staff with ideas about how to improve the Association, Board members are also available to the membership at large to discuss! ■

Association Committees Gear Up for New Year
By Alex Stowe, NATM Executive Director
The National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM) is a not-for-profit directed entirely by its membership base and their elected representatives. NATM’s Committees serve a vital function in guiding the work of the Association. Committee members support the adaptation and evolution of the Association while seeing that the strategic vision established by the Board of Directors is being carried out.
Committee volunteers signed up in record-breaking numbers to serve in 2026. With over 100 individuals signed up to volunteer their time, 12 committees with specific goals were established by the Executive Committee. Six committees are returning for 2026: Convention, Education, Finance, Government Affairs, Membership, and Technology. While 2026 will see five new committees assisting the Association with programming: Data Insights Taskforce, Dealer Business Operations, Dealer Training & Technical, Technical and Compliance, and Women Tow-Gether.

Women Tow-Gether Drives Connection Across Trailer Industry
By Samantha Darling LaCount, NATM Tracks Editor
Women’s history in manufacturing is long and full of inspiring stories. The National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM) is making some history of its own with the Association’s first Women TowGether Committee. The Women Tow-Gether Committee brings together women from across the trailer industry, including both manufacturers and dealers, to foster connection, mentorship, and leadership development.
After the success of the Women Tow-Gether Dealer Roundtable at the NATM Trailer Expo in 2025, members expressed wanting an avenue for women in the association to connect outside of events. Staff went to work and just a few months later were ready to launch the committee. NATM Programming Director Ginger Baker-Sanhueza and NATM Marketing Specialist Izabella Chesney both participated in the roundtable and will be on the newly formed committee as staff liaisons.
“I’m genuinely excited to see the Women Tow-Gether Committee come to life. Women are still underrepresented
in this industry, but they’re here, they’re contributing, and they’re leading in meaningful ways,” Baker-Sanhueza said. “This committee is about creating space to connect, learn from one another, and move the industry forward—together. Excited to see what’s possible!”
Chesney oversees NATM’s Call to Service (CTS), a social media campaign where dealers can highlight their stellar service departments. CTS and the Women Tow-Gether Roundtable have shown her how much a space for women to connect is needed in the traditionally male-dominated field of trailer and component manufacturing.
“A number of times while working on a call-to-service campaign, they say they want people to know that whoever you’re talking to on the phone, they know what they’re talking about. You do not have to ask for a man,” Chesney said. “Women in the industry are still dealing with interactions like that, and it’s important to have support and be heard and be understood so they can keep showing up every day. They are an asset to their company and the industry and

it’s important they know they belong and are welcome.”
Manufacturing, like many industries, is struggling to fill all available positions. In a joint survey report by Xometry, Thomas, and The Women in Manufacturing Association, 79% of manufacturing companies surveyed report workforce shortages. Numbers from the 2020 U.S. Census showed that women make up about 47% of the American workforce but only 30% of the manufacturing field.
Heather Gonzales, Marketing Director for Triple Crown and Down 2 Earth Trailers and NATM Board of Directors Secretary, has worked in different industries over her career. She loves the trailer industry because it brings together people from all walks of life. She says she hopes the committee will reinforce that and remind women there’s a place for them.
“It’s important to be able to express the ups and downs that we face as women because it’s different. We are sometimes treated differently than men. There are still people that don’t trust women, don’t look up to women, don’t give women the respect or recognition they deserve,” Gonzales said. “I have to say that I have felt very welcomed in this industry as a woman, and that means a lot, and it has allowed me to be in a place where I can go further and really, truly be an advocate for others.”
Gonzales says she’s learned from fellow NATM Board of Director Member Deborah Edwards of SteelPoint and other women throughout her career. She’s excited by this opportunity for women to get the same mentorship and for those established in the industry to share their knowledge.
These relationships are at the heart of the Women TowGether. The committee is dedicated to supporting women in the industry, encouraging collaboration, and creating opportunities to grow both professionally and personally.
“Women think they have to do more. I don’t think you have to do more to prove a point. I think just being and doing is proving a point.”
- Heather Gonzales, Marketing Director for Triple Crown and Down 2 Earth Trailers and NATM Board of Directors Secretary
As NATM launches the Women Tow-Gether Committee, it marks an important step toward building a more connected and inclusive trailer industry. By creating space for mentorship, shared experiences, and leadership growth, the committee honors the contributions women already make while helping pave the way for those still to come. ■

Hoffman Haulers Take the Winning Bid for the 2025 Trailer for a Cause
SAUK CENTRE, Minn. — Felling Trailers, Inc. conducted its thirteenth annual online auction of an FT-3 drop deck utility trailer to benefit a nonprofit organization: Ivy’s Legacy Foundation. A winning bid of $5,900.00 secured the auction, which ended the evening of Nov. 1st. The bid winner, Alex & Jess Hoffman, owners of Hoffman Haulers, LLC., based out of Sauk Centre, MN.
Alex and his wife Jess, have followed the Trailers for a Cause auctions for many years and decided this was their year to bid. “I have been aware of the trailers that Felling donates over the years and have always thought it was a cool idea for the community and for all the organizations they have helped through donations,” stated Alex. In the back of my mind, I always thought someday if they had a green color that worked for our company (Hoffman Haulers), and if we had the means that year, we would at least bid on it, and this was the year.” As the auction was drawing to a close, Alex found himself in the midst of a bidding battle, which he won just minutes before the auction clock ran out. “When we finally got the winning bid, we were so happy to win it! And for us, the added bonus of the proceeds going to such a great local charity that does so much for the families in need around our community makes it even better,” said Alex.
The Hoffmans plan to add the trailer to their fleet for transporting smaller equipment and materials. Hoffman Haulers is a trucking and excavation company; their signature colors are green and black, making the Ivy’s Legacy FT-3 the perfect fit. On the hauling side, Hoffmans run between 8-10 trucks on the road, including dump trucks, belly dumps, a side dump, and occasionally a little hopper work. On the excavation side, they provide general excavation and demolition work, land clearing, finish grading, and more specialized services like shoreline restoration and boulder retaining walls, as well as equipment rental. “We will use this trailer to haul around our small roller packer, various plate, and jumping jack packers to the different dirt work jobs that we need them at. We will also use the trailer to haul pipe and other smaller materials to job sites as needed, rather than pulling one of our larger trailers.
The 2025 Trailer for a Cause FT-3 utility trailer was painted a custom “Ivy Green” with black pinstriping and bearing the Ivy’s Legacy Foundation emblem. Suppliers of Felling Trailers had joined in to support Ivy’s Legacy Foundation by sponsoring the construction of the trailer, from lighting to tires to decking. The 2025 Trailer for a Cause sponsors are Trans-Texas, PPG, Dexter, Sealco, Peterson, Demco, and Pacific Rim. Felling Trailers wanted to raise awareness of the valuable work that Ivy’s Legacy Foundation does for families and community members it serves throughout Central Minnesota and beyond.
The online auction lasted for 9 days, from Friday, Oct. 24th, through Saturday, Nov. 1st, ending during Ivy’s Legacy Foundation’s Sweet Sixteen Trivia Night fundraiser, with
Alex & Jess’s winning bid. One hundred percent of the winning bid of $5,900 benefits Ivy’s Legacy Foundation!
One week after Alex and Jess picked up the 2025 Trailer for a Cause, several Ivy’s Legacy Foundation board members met with Felling Trailers owners Brenda Jennissen and Bonnie Radjenovich to receive a $5,900 check. “We are so honored to have been chosen as the 2025 recipient for the 2025 Trailer for a Cause. The proceeds from this one-of-a-kind trailer auction will go directly back to our community, and our board is honored to steward this contribution,” stated Nicki Vogt, Founder of Ivy’s Legacy Foundation. “Thank you, Felling Trailers’ team members, for selecting Ivy’s Legacy.” “Ivy’s Legacy Foundation has been assisting families in Central Minnesota for over a decade, ‘showing up’ for families during their most vulnerable moments,” said Brenda Jennissen, President and CEO of Felling Trailers, Inc. “They’ve shown up for our own team members and their families when crisis hit, providing everything from funeral support to comfort baskets and financial support during cancer treatment. It’s rare to find an organization that combines such practical help with genuine compassion. This auction allowed us to help multiply their impact, and frankly, it’s an honor to be part of their mission. Thank you, Ivy’s Legacy, for being a part of our community support team.”

Felling Trailers to Showcase FT-10 DDPT Drop Deck Pan Tilt Trailer at ARA Show 2026
SAUK CENTRE, Minn. — Felling Trailers, Inc. is excited to announce that we will be exhibiting at The ARA Show 2026 in Orlando, Florida, March 2nd-4th, 2026, where we will showcase our popular FT-10 DDPT Drop Deck Pan Tilt Bed Utility Trailer in Booth 5232. This versatile equipment hauler represents Felling’s commitment to engineering innovative solutions that make equipment transportation safer, easier, and more efficient for rental professionals and their customers.
Engineered for Low-Clearance Equipment
The FT-10 DDPT is specifically designed to address the challenges of loading and transporting low-clearance machines. Whether you’re moving equipment from the warehouse to the worksite or to the home site, this trailer’s gravity-based tilt mechanism provides a practical solution that streamlines your operations. The trailer is ideal for transporting mowers, scissor lifts, rollers, forklifts, landscape materials, and other equipment that requires a low loading angle.
Key Features and Specifications
The FT-10 DDPT combines robust construction with userfriendly features. With a 79-inch width (inside wheelwells)
and 12-foot length (21’ overall), this trailer offers ample space for a wide variety of equipment while maintaining a manageable footprint. The 4-foot dovetail paired with the 18” approach plate provides a gradual, smooth transition for low clearance equipment during loading and unloading.
The DDPT’s gravity-tilt system uses a center pivot point to tilt the bed toward the ground. The pan tilt’s locking mechanism was designed to enhance the operator’s ease of use through its safety-minded, straightforward operation. With approximate load angles ranging from 7 to 13 degrees and an 18-inch approach plate, equipment operators will find loading a no hassle process.
The trailer features fabricated steel pan sides measuring 10 inches high, providing secure cargo containment while maintaining the low load height design that is essential for transporting low-clearance equipment. This unit features an optional 3/16” steel floor plate deck that ensures durability and longevity, with six 5/8” straight D-rings and two corner tie, tie-downs for securing your valuable equipment during transport. The FT-10 DDPT is also optioned with a 45” w x 14” l x 8” lockable, bolt-on 2.5 Cu. Ft. toolbox, providing for safe storage of chains and tie-down straps.
Built for Durability and Safety
Quality construction is evident throughout the FT-10 DDPT. The trailer rides on two 6,000-pound axles with spring suspension, providing a smooth, stable ride for your equipment. Electric brakes (forward self-adjusting) on both axles deliver confident stopping power, ensuring safe transport of cargo. The trailer comes equipped with
ST225/75R 15 D tires optioned with custom black mod wheels, designed to handle the demands of the rental environment.
With a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 9,980 pounds and a payload capacity of 7,380 pounds, the FT-10 DDPT can handle substantial equipment loads. The adjustable 2-5/16-inch ball coupler accommodates various hitch heights. Safety and visibility are prioritized through LED lighting throughout the trailer, complete with a sealed wiring harness for reliability and a standard 7-pole RV plug for easy electrical connection.
