MEET YOUR NEW CITY MANAGER - NATHAN BURD The City of Nassau Bay's new City Manager Nathan Burd is scheduled to kick off his first day on September 11, 2023. Burd, who was 1 out of three finalists was selected as the #1 pick and voted 7-0 by City Council to take the position. Nathan Burd has over 13 years of local government leadership experience and for the past three years has served as the County Administrator for Livingston County, MI. Livingston County has a population of approximately 195,000 residents and is one of the fastest-growing counties in the state with sixteen townships, two villages, and two cities. In his current role, Nathan is responsible for managing a workforce of 700+ employees and an annual budget of $112M (All Funds.) Prior experience includes almost two years as City Administrator for the City of Adrian, MI, and almost three years as Village Administrator & Clerk for the Village of Wolverine Lake, MI. From 2012 to 2016, Nathan held the position of Director of Public Service for the City of Reynoldsburg, OH. Nathan earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Ohio State University and holds a Master of Science in Management (MSM) - organizational management. Nathan has been married for 18 years to his wife, Jolene. Together, they have four wonderful children - Noah (13), Charlotte (11), Graham (7), and Donovan (6). Donovan joined the Burd family through adoption when he was just a year old. His adoption has been a wonderful experience and a real blessing for the Burd Family. In his free time, Nathan enjoys time spent with family, admittingly an active group. Swimming, walking, hiking, and playing sports especially basketball and tennis - are all things they enjoy doing together. When asked about his new role as Nassau Bay's City Manager, Burd said, "I'd like to thank the Mayor and the City Council for offering me the city manager position. I enjoyed the interview process and the chance to meet the elected officials, the directors and staff, and many Nassau Bay residents. My family and I could tell right away that this is a special community with a unique past and a very bright future. I'm looking forward to getting involved, building strong relationships, and working hard to implement Council's policy objectives. It's an honor to be your next city manager and I'm excited to get started." Nathan Burd will take his seat on the dais at the Regular City Council Meeting on September 11, 2023. We hope our residents have the opportunity to attend the meeting in person and welcome Nathan to our wonderful city.
