NOTE FROM THE MAYOR MARGARITAVILLE UPDATE Dear Friends, Neighbors, and Citizens: It is with great pleasure to communicate to the whole City what I believe many of you may already know – that a consortium of investors led by the City of Nassau Bay has purchased the Hilton Hotel Property with the intent to completely renovate the entire hotel into an upscale "Compass by Margaritaville Resort and Conference Center". The Resort will be named Compass by Margaritaville Nassau Bay. Your City Council, City Staff, especially our City Manager, Paul Lopez, and our City Finance Director, Jaime Vasquez, were essential in allowing the City to ultimately win out over Seabrook, Galveston, and Texas City for what will become the marquee Resort in the Margaritaville Suite of Hotels. This will be only the 5th Compass by Margaritaville in all of the United States. To date, $28 million has been raised to acquire the hotel, led by a $5 million pledge by the City. An additional $35-$40 million is anticipated to be spent to renovate the hotel into an upscale Resort and Conference Center.

In addition, due to the announcement of the successful acquisition of the Hilton and development of the Resort, I am also very pleased to communicate that Schafer Family Restaurants, currently located in Clear Lake Shores, has announced their purchase of the Luby's property with the intention to fully renovate the property into a full-service, sit-down, Seafood Restaurant and Bar. The old, abandoned Luby's building will now finally come to an end to the benefit of our entire community. I invite everyone to thank your entire City Council and City Staff on our success in providing the economic development to these most needed properties, as these projects could never have been achieved without their efforts, support, and united teamwork. HALLOWEEN IN THE PARK Join the Special Event Committee for the City of Nassau Bay's Halloween in the Park at David Braun Park on Saturday October 18, from 6:00-8:00pm. We will have games, face painting, and balloon artist, Trunk or Treating, hay rides provided by CANBE, cake walk, guessing game to win it all, and costume contests! The costume contest will be divided into individuals by age group, best group, and best pet! Come listen to DJ Christy Alan, who is a singer and songwriter by trade. She has a special connection to our Nassau Bay Events as she was half of the music duo, “1050 Major.” The other half was our very own Sgt. Kalia Sullivan. Local businesses and individuals are encouraged to participate in the Trunk or Treat Event. Come advertise your business and pass out candy (please no sales at this event). For Trunk or Treat participants, we will line with a table or by backing into the parking spaces in front of the pavilion at 5:00 pm. That way, the sidewalk will be a safe path for kids to visit you. We ask all participants to be ready to start by 5:45 pm. Space is limited, so please RSVP for the event by emailing us at secnassaubay@gmail.com VOLUNTEERS MAKE THESE EVENTS HAPPEN! If you or your older children would like to join us by volunteering, we would be happy to find a spot for you! If you miss the chance to help out for this event, don’t worry Holiday in the Park is around the corner we are already planning for! Come check us out or get more information at our monthly meetings every first Tuesday inside City Hall at 6:00pm.

3rd Annual Paddle Event: October 11 & 25, 2025 Nassau Bay will host the 3rd Annual Paddle event to benefit the PTSD Foundation of America. There will be 2 events this year. On October 11th, a practice event will be held at Lake Nassau at David Braun Park. Camp Hope veterans will join us on October 25th at Nassau Bay Bal Harbor Marina. Everyone will travel upstream to the Nassau Bay Yacht Club for food and festivities. Registration for both events is at 7:30 AM at their respective locations. All funds donated will go to Camp Hope. This is an organization dedicated to the mental health and well-being of our beloved veterans. Come out with your kayak, canoe, or paddleboard and celebrate our armed forces and their service. Annual Fall Sweep: October 18, 2025 It's the time of year to clean and spruce up our city! Come join the Keep Nassau Bay Beautiful Committee, Parks & Recreation Committee, and Garden Club to get the City ready for fall. Everyone is welcome - individuals, families, Scouts, and students to earn service hours Meet: David Braun Park Pavilion Time: 8:00 AM (for coffee and donuts) OR 11:30 AM Bring: Garden tools-trowel, shovel, clippers Fall Sweep is a time when everyday citizens working together can do extraordinary things. NATIONAL FIRE PREVENTION WEEK October 5-11th is National Fire Prevention Week. Your Nassau Bay Fire Department wants residents to know about the growing fire danger from lithiumion batteries in phones, tablets, and e-bikes. These batteries can cause explosive fires when damaged, overcharged, or improperly stored - warning signs include hot batteries, swelling device cases, or strange chemical smells. If you encounter a battery fire, evacuate immediately and call 911, but never use water as these fires burn extremely hot and can reignite. For more safety tips, follow the NBFD Facebook page. Lastly, join the community at this year's FPW Open House on October 10th from 68pm at the NB Fire Station.

Two Team Awards for Reindeer Fun Run. Open Category: The Traveling Trophy is awarded each year to the team with the most members. This year’s teams include Tinsel Toes, Benson Bunch, Dave’s Deer, Rip Currents and Rudolph Racers. School Category: This year we’re establishing a new school team category, and the winning team gets $500 for their school. Most of our kids attend CCISD schools, so we have set up a team for all 44 campuses. If you want to enter a private school in the competition, just create a team when you register. Just make sure it begins with “School:”. For example, School: XYZ Academey. Volunteers. We have set up Sign Up Genius again this year for volunteers. We need golf cart drivers, and 14 other volunteer duties. Click the Volunteers on the CANBE website to sign up.

NASSAU BAY GARDEN CLUB NEWS Please join the Nassau Bay Garden Club and help us to usher in the fall season on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. Club members, Christina Jordan and Betty Armstrong, will help spark our creative genius and teach us about the season’s ‘make and take’ décor. The meeting will be held at Nassau Bay’s City Hall in the City Council Room and is open to the public. The NBGC meets on the second Tuesday of the month from September-May. The October meeting is the one meeting of the season that begins at 6:30 pm. We will begin with refreshments and some time to socialize, followed by the program and guest speakers at 7:00 pm. If you can’t make our morning meetings, please consider attending this evening meeting. The NBGC’s purpose is to encourage interest in all phases of home gardening and to promote better horticulture practices, civic beauty and conservation of natural resources. As we continue to promote our purpose in Nassau Bay, we invite our neighbors and friends to join the NBGC on November 11 as we celebrate Texas Arbor Day. ST. THOMAS THE APOSTLE EPISCOPAL CHURCH Food Distribution for October, 2025 On Saturday, October 4, 2025, St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church (18300 Upper Bay Dr. in Nassau Bay) will host its monthly food distribution in partnership with the Galveston Food Bank. This distribution is available to any individual or family, and there are no restrictions on where you live. In August 2025, we served over 600 people from 80+ cars in just 90 minutes. We serve about 35+ lbs. of fresh fruit, vegetables, milk, and other items. With the cost of food in today’s economy, this service is even more important to people in the area. The Galveston Food Bank will arrive in the St Thomas parking lot about 7:45 am, and distribution will begin about 8:00 am until about 9:30 am. Community members are always encouraged and welcome to serve with St. Thomas volunteers in this ministry. For more information, please contact Fr. Mike Stone at rector@sttaec.org. Apollo: Respite for All Apollo: Respite for All is a community program for those experiencing mild to moderate dementia and their caregivers that takes place at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church in Nassau Bay, Texas. Every Tuesday from 10:00 am-2:00 pm (with lunch provided), participants enjoy connection, exercise, creativity, and fun! Annual Assessment Notice The annual assessment for the Nassau Bay Homes Association will be mailed out at the end of October. Residents can expect to receive their invoice by November 1st.
ST. PAUL EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM If you are looking for a place where your child can grow and learn in a loving, faith-filled, warm and secure environment with an excellent student to teacher ratio where your child will receive individual attention, we invite your family to join our ECP family! We incorporate several exciting learning opportunities into your child’s daily classroom schedule, including lessons in our STEM Center, Wiggle World, Library, and Chapel. In addition to "Soccer Shots Houston," we offer other after school classes including “Art & Beatz,” “STEM & Friends,” Stretch & Play,” and “Books Alive.” Parents are invited to join us for monthly events such as “Turkey Trot” and “Parent/Child Craft Day.”
Registration for our fall session is open until all classes are full, so don’t delay! We currently have a waitlist for most classes but do have a few open spots in our Pre-K 3 classes.
