Get set for toe-tapping tunes from The Line Up and Marshland Ranch (featuring Trey from the Fe), delicious food trucks, cold brews, and vino! NATIONAL POLICE WEEK MAY 12TH - 18TH National Police Week was established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962. It pays tribute to law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty while protecting and ensuring the safety of others. President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which May 15 falls is designated as National Police Week. In April, the Public Works Department upgraded the lighting system at our Police Memorial, honoring fallen police Sergeant Kaila Sullivan, who gave her life in the line of duty. Thank you for your service, Sgt. Sullivan. The City of Nassau Bay will always remember you. This monument is located in front of the Marriot Court Yard Hotel in Town Square.
NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK MAY 19TH - 25TH National Public Works Week was created to energize and educate the public on the importance of public works to their daily lives: planning, building, managing, and operating at the heart of their local communities to improve everyday quality of life. This year's theme is "Advancing Quality of Life for All" for the 2024 National Public Works Week poster. Public works contributes to advancing and enhancing our quality of life, no matter where we live in the world. Public works professionals provide essential services that lead to healthier, happier, more vibrant communities. The "Advancing Quality of Life for All" theme highlights how public works professionals advance our quality of life, whether as first responders to an electricity outage, regular waste pickup, or a myriad of other ways they silently serve their communities.
NATIONAL EMS WEEK MAY 19TH - 25TH
May 19-25 marks the 50th anniversary of National EMS Week. It's a time to thank EMTs and paramedics who provide lifesaving care across the nation every day. EMS Week educates the public about EMS and the essential service it provides. The theme is "Honoring Our Past, Forging Our Future." NAEMT partners with ACEP to encourage recognition of EMS Week and contributions of EMS professionals. The theme reminds us of EMS's proud history and contributions over the decades. We must stay focused on evolving and innovating to ensure EMS has the support needed to answer the public's call for help when it's most needed.
