NOTE FROM THE MAYOR Dear Friend, Neighbors, and Citizens, I want to take a few moments to wish each of you a very happy holiday season and a prosperous New Year. This is the best time of the year, when families and friends gather to be with one another and to look forward to what the new year will bring. I hope this year each of us makes a point to reach out to meet and greet other neighbors in our community, as we have a number of new citizens in our city. I would also like to thank City Staff and your City Council for their tremendous efforts in making our city a great city. We are currently installing new water distribution lines throughout the city to increase water pressure, enhance firefighting capabilities, reduce water-break repairs, and maintain a great ISO rating. Our Street Rehabilitation Project will replace nine (9) major areas of street paving. The water tower will receive much-needed interior structural work, and the entire interior and exterior will be painted for integrity and water-quality improvements. The Police Department is constantly maintaining a high-quality level of safety for our residents on the streets, in our parks, and on our waterways for recreational boating. This cannot happen without the dedicated work of employees on the ground. Lastly, we can all be proud that the redevelopment of two of our most prime commercial locations will occur: the Hilton renovating into a Margaritaville Resort, and Luby’s renovating into a Schafer’s Family Restaurant. The city is thankful for the tremendous volunteer efforts by residents, who dedicate their time to making this a wonderful city to live in. The Nassau Bay Volunteer Fire Department has dedicated many hours to ensure proper firefighting through ample training and full certification renewals. The Parks Committee volunteers have worked countless hours planting new flowers, bushes, and trees in our city parks and street medians. The Special Events Committee has gone beyond expectations for events such as the 4th of July, Halloween in the Park, and the upcoming Holiday in the Park event, to name just a few. As I reflect on this year’s accomplishments, I could not be more proud of serving you as Mayor of Nassau Bay. Please take time with your family to enjoy our beautiful parks, establishments, and lights on our Town Square -- they make great holiday Christmas pictures!

TOYS FOR TOTS USMC TOY DRIVE
The annual United States Marine Corps Reserve Unit, Galveston, TX, Toys for Tots drive has been heavily impacted for toy and cash donations for the past three years. All toys collected in Nassau Bay are distributed to needy children throughout our area and extend from the Bay Area to Galveston. The USMC Toys for Tots organization has been taking care of local kids for more than 30 years. Every year our Nassau Bay neighbors share love by making a toy donation to USMC TFT. Please drop off new, unwrapped toys at our local Nassau Bay businesses. Checks made payable to USMC Toys for Tots are also accepted. For additional information, contact Diana Clark, 281-507-3387. This year is exceptionally hard with so many families losing their jobs or not being paid for the jobs they do. Food insecurity is at an alltime high in our area, and these families will have no way to buy toys this Christmas. Every dollar or toy donated will go a long way to ensuring every child will have something to enjoy this Christmas. There are hundreds of needy children in our immediate area, ranging from newborns to 17-year-olds. When thoughtfully purchasing donated gifts, teenagers & ages 7-11 age groups are the most often overlooked age groups we take care of. Many thanks to the Nassau Bay Police Dept., Public Works Dept., City Hall, Nassau Bay Garden Club, CANBE, & Parks Committee for being big supporters of USMC Toys for Tots.
