Library News The Library is hiring! The library would like to hire at least one more student for a part-time work-study position. The NCC Tutoring & Writing Center The NCC Tutoring and Writing Center will be hosting a series of themed sessions on time management and weekly schedule planning, homework and study strategies and test prep strategies on Tuesday afternoons in September. Advising News: Welcome Back Welcome Back, Faculty! A Quick Advising Team Reminder As we head into the Fall semester, we wanted to provide a quick refresher on our Advising Team and current caseload assignments. Donna Lisa Sanchez continues to serve as our VA School Certifying Official, in addition to advising students in our Computer Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering Technology, Information Technology, and Mathematics programs. Jayleen Aleman has expanded her advising responsibilities to include students in Biological Science, General Studies, and Nutrition & Wellness. Jayleen will continue her important work with Prior Learning Assessment (PLA), partnering with faculty to help identify and evaluate opportunities for students to earn credit for collegelevel learning gained outside the traditional classroom. This work supports our efforts to recognize students’ prior learning, remove barriers to completion, and help students make progress toward their educational goals. We are always looking for ways to strengthen our faculty-advising collaboration and create a more connected experience for our students. One way we are doing this is by aligning advising caseloads with our Academic Focus Areas (AFAs), helping to connect students with advisors who are more closely aligned with their programs and areas of study. This approach encourages stronger communication and collaboration between faculty advisors and academic advisors and supports more coordinated academic planning and student success.
