Walvis Bay District Hospital recently received state-of-the-art Computed Tomography (CT) scan equipment worth N$4.9 million from Zhejiang Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine in China. Following the donation of a CT scanner residents in the Erongo region no longer be referred to Windhoek and do not

Die Minister van Stedelike en Landelike Ontwikkeling, James Sankwasa het geen doekies omgedraai in 'n skrywe waarin hy dorpsrade en munisipaliteite wat van RedForce Debt Management CC se dienste gebruik maak beopdrag het om nie ooreenkomste met die skuldinvorderaars teen die vervaldatum te hernu nie. Sommige munisipaliteite en dorpsrade landwyd maak van die maatskappy se dienste gebruik om skuld namens hulle van inwoners en besighede in te vorder. Volgens die Minister se skrywe, gedateer 4 Augustus, het RedForce skuldinvorderaars “baie ekonomiese en politieke uitdagings en probleme veroorsaak vir burgers en inwoners in plaaslike owerhede wat van hul

dienste gebruik maak.” Munisipaliteite en dorpsrade wat nog nie ooreenkomste met RedForce aangegaan het nie, word deur Sankwasa versoek om dit nie te doen nie. RedForce word in verskeie dorpe deur inwoners beskuldig dat hulle blykbaar water en elektrisiteit sonder behoorlike kennisgewing afsny en buitensporige strawwe oplê.

A widely circulated video on social media of the demolition and eviction of illegal land occupants by the messenger of the court, sparked allegations and discrimination in the town. The group of squatters evicted from a privately owned plot alleged that they have been

seeking assistance from the municipality since 2020, but their plea has fallen on deaf. Others claim that illegal land occupants are receiving “special treatment” over those, on the official housing lists, who have been waiting for years. Political leaders in the harbour town have called on the squatters to
