Namibian Trainees Head to Angola for Oil Eileen van der Schyff and Gas Training Eileen van der Schyff The Petroleum Training and Education Fund (PETROFUND) is pleased to announce a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing the vocational skills of Namibians in the oil and gas sector. Through a collaboration with Subsea 7, an international oil and gas service company, and Sonamet, an Angolan oil and gas training centre, 13 Namibians will receive specialised training in vital oil and gas fabrication and installation skills. The selected trainees, who possess Level 3 welding and fitting & turning qualifications, were chosen from PETROFUND's comprehensive oil and gas CV database. They underwent a rigorous selection process, including interviews conducted by experts from Sonamet and PETROFUND, as well as OGUK medical clearance in Walvis Bay. To commemorate this milestone, PETROFUND hosted a send-off event for the trainees on Friday, 31 May, in Windhoek. "We are thrilled to
send our trainees to Angola for this invaluable training opportunity. The skills they will acquire will be instrumental in advancing Namibia's energy sector, and we look forward to their contributions upon their return," said N. N. Mulemi, Chief Executive Officer of PETROFUND. Established in 1993 by the Government of the Republic of Namibia, PETROFUND is mandated to build skills in Namibia's upstream oil and gas industry.
