Council gives community opportunity to voice inside President concern in public meeting Piquet Jacobs
At a public meeting held in Narraville by the Local Authority Council of the Municipality of Walvis Bay on Tuesday evening, 24 May, community members of Narraville were given the opportunity to give input on issues that council should focus on. The floor was opened by The Mayor of Walvis Bay, Alderman Immanuel Wilfried, with the following remarks, “As you know, the Local Authority Council finds it necessary to conduct meetings of this nature from time to time to discuss essential issues that concern the public and to clarify them in order to avoid any misunderstandings. It is also in line with our Government's Harambee Prosperity Plan, which puts great emphasis on public consultation. Through these consultations we also hope to get input from our residents on areas that Council should focus on, especially on programmes to feature in our capital

Last year Swakopmund made it into the top three, having missed the top spot by a small margin. “What is remarkable is that Henties Bay was in a competition with other South African towns, which have a bigger capacity to market their town and call on the people to vote. The fact that Henties Bay won shows that the choice came out of the people's heart,” she said. The Kwêla “Dorp van die Jaar” competition is hosted annually. From each province in South Africa as well as the whole of Namibia one town is chosen. People then have the opportunity to vote for their town. The winner will not only receive the official title of “Dorp van die Jaar”, but also a 30 second long advertisement spot about the town. Furthermore the winning town will receive airtime on TV to market the town to the value of N$ 1 000 000. Residents of Henties Bay can also look forward to a huge party to celebrate the win in the near future, hosted by Kwêla. “If you think of Henties Bay you immediately visualize Carike Keuzenkamp's hitsong 'Sarah de Jager'. Now Henties Bay has another hit being the first Namibian town to win the competition,” Karen Meiring, Director of the Afrikaans channels of M-Net commented after the announcement. She added that “kykNET” is really excited about the new status Henties Bay has received. Paetzold continued saying that although Namibia has in the past few years seen a significant increase in tourists coming from South Africa, she expects a further increase after this achievement. “It's not only Henties that will profit from this. The whole of Namibia has now been put on the map,” she said. She expects all accommodation establishments of Henties Bay to be booked out for the December season soon, which will lead tourists to look for accommodation in neighbouring towns, thereby also having a positive impact on Swakopmund and Walvis Bay. “The South African market is very important. In
the past South Africans were known to come to Namibia and camp, but now the market has diversified, which is really good for the tourism sector,” she added.

The price increase of 10% was announced at the recent Town Council meeting. According to the Agenda of the meeting, the municipality of Swakopmund received a letter from the national water utility NamWater, stating that a price increase will be implemented. In the letter signed by the NamWater Chief Financial Officer it is stated that the tariff for the Swakopmund Reservoir Scheme will be increased from N$8.75 per m³ to N$9.65 per m³. The increase came into effect in the beginning of the month. In another letter NamWater states that the bulk water price for the Rössing Reservoir Scheme will be increased from N$10.10 per m³ to N$11.10 per m³. Subsequent to the above, Town Council decided to increase the basic water charges for its residents as follows: For Swakopmund, town residents will now have to pay N$83.70, marking an increase of N$7.20. The residents living on the smallholdings will pay N$8.00 more, bringing the basic charges up to N$95.30. In this price a meter fee of N$6.50 is included. Council further decided that all other supply points be increased as per the increases of NamWater.
Swakopmund Council to provide 30 000 erven Erwin Leuschner
The Town Council of Swakopmund has set itself the ambitious goal of providing 30 000 erven within the next ten years. This target forms part of the strategic action plan, which was decided upon after the Management of Council held a workshop to formulate Council's priorities in February this year. The provision of land to the residents of Swakopmund is a top priority. This is evident in the 5-year and 10-year plan of Town Council, which was approved at the recent meeting. The plan was compiled at the end of March this year and it was recommended that both plans form a basis of Council's Capital Budget. In total the 5-year plan includes eleven priority areas, with land provision taking the top spot. The main focus of council lies in the planning of 5 000 erven per year and a providing 1 000 erven to the residents per year. As part of this goal council also intends to develop other accompanying facilities, including educational institutions, sport facilities, cemeteries, SME markets, clinic facilities and recreational facilities being parks and green areas. As part of the 5-year plan council also wants to construct another water reservoir. Namib times understands that the current capacity of the reservoirs supplying the town can only supply water for 48 hours, should the supply be interrupted. Another goal of this plan includes the surfacing of various roads, the development of municipal satellite offices (pay points) in other parts of town and the replacement of the so-called mid-block services, which are a headache in some parts of Swakopmund. Furthermore Council intends to develop a fire
station in DRC/Matutura in the next five years, set-up more public toilets, regulate shebeen hubs more vigorously, create more water points in DRC and create a sustainable city. In the 10-year plan the provision of land also forms a top priority. In total Council intends to provide 30 000 erven of the course of ten years and create and plan a number of erven. Other targets include the provision of land for retirement centres, the regulation of private public transport services, alternative energy supply solutions, the construction of a new public hall in Matutura and last to increase the safety and security in town. For the latter Town Council is contemplating the idea of creating its own City Police, but this approach might be hampered by financial implications. To reach all these ambitious targets Council needs the necessary financial backing. According to the Agenda Council has at this point an amount of N$50 million invested in a bank account. “However it is anticipated that the sale of various land transactions will be envisaged during the next financial year to bolster the financial position of Council,” it states in the Agenda. In total these transactions, should they all materialise, will bring in an estimated revenue of N$53 million.

Issues brought up by the public include poor conditions of streets in Narraville and Walvis bay as a whole; sewerage problems – in Neptune street especially; as well as the lack of street lighting in certain areas of Narraville. A member of public requested that council take a look at the possibility of making the Narraville clinic bigger. There were also complaints regarding the structure of speedhumps in Narraville. Wilfried added, “Government has undertaken to financially support local authorities to provide more serviced land, and to address the housing shortage, especially affordable housing. Since we are partners in this process, the distribution of the serviced land will be done in conjunction with Government. The beneficiaries will be drawn from the local waiting lists, namely the municipal and NHE lists. Together with the NHE we are
now busy verifying the different lists to make sure there are no duplications or other irregularities. Also, we need to make sure those on the lists do not own other properties. The Minister of Urban and Rural Development will then officially hand over the properties on behalf of Government. What is also important to know is that Government will continue to finance the next round of servicing land, starting in July when the new financial year starts.” New members of council were also introduced to the community. 10 new councillors were appointed, following the local authority elections in November last year. All 10 councillors were sworn in officially in December and by law the Council had to go into recess. The full Council returned in February this year and before they could commence with their official duties, they had to undergo a series of induction programmes to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their tasks. The induction process was co-ordinated by our line ministry, namely Urban and Rural Development and took place countrywide.

President Geingob: More needs to be done Erwin Leuschner
President Hage Geingob has called on all Namibian's to join the march towards a united, peaceful, integrated and prosperous Africa. This was the key note of his message on the occasion of the 53rd Anniversary of Africa Day, which was celebrated across the continent this Wednesday. In his message to the Namibian nation on the occasion of Africa Day, Geingob recalled the liberation struggle, thanking other African nations for their support delivered during this time. “As we commemorate Africa Day, we remember the critical role played, in a true Harambee Spirit, by our fellow African brothers and sis-ters towards the liberation of our country, starting with the Frontline states and Nigeria and the rest of the continent that offered refuge to our people, as they fled the brutality of the apartheid system,” his message reads. “Today we are reaping the benefits of
Africa's solidarity. It is for this reason that Cabinet today, in the Spirit of Harambee and Africa Unity, decided to with immediate effect exempt all visa requirements into Namibia for all Africans that are holders of diplomatic or official passports,” it states. While Geingob reminds the nation of the past hardships, he also states “that more needs to be done”. In this regard he wants to promote sustained and equitable development, as it is evident through the adoption of Africa's blueprint towards prosperity, Agenda 2063, by the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union in January 2015. To achieve this vision, a unified approach across the entire continent and the convergence of the economies is required. “It also requires the pooling together of the requisite resources, the maintenance of peace and stability; effective governance; respect for human rights and the rule of law for unity in diversity within our societies,” the message reads. In conclusion Geingob calls on all Namibians to join the march towards a united, peaceful, integrated and prosperous Africa. “A prosperous Africa, characterised by inclusive, sustained and shared growth, requires our political leadership to create a conducive environment for the rapid industrialisation of our economies in order to create sufficient and decent jobs for our people,” his message reads.

Crime Prevention Tips — Burglary The Burglary Basics: · Make your home look occupied, and make it difficult to break in. · Lock all outside doors and windows before you leave the house or go to bed. Even if it is for a short time, lock your doors. · Leave lights on when you go out. If you are going to be away for a length of time, connect some lamps to automatic timers to turn them on in the evening and off during the day. · Keep your garage door closed and locked. · Don't allow daily deliveries of mail, newspapers or flyers build up while you are away. Arrange with the Post Office to hold your mail, or arrange for a friend or neighbor to take them regularly. · Arrange for your lawn to be mowed if you are going away for an extended time. · Check your locks on doors and windows and replace them with secure devices as necessary. · Pushbutton locks on doorknobs are easy for burglars to open. Install deadbolt locks on all your outside doors. · Sliding glass doors are vulnerable. Special locks are available for better security. · Other windows may need better locks. Check with a locksmith or hardware store for alternatives. Don't Tempt a Thief: · Lawn mowers, barbecues and bicycles are best stored out of sight. · Always lock your garden sheds and garages. · Use curtains on garage and basement windows. Locks…Get the Best: · No lock, regardless of its quality, can be truly effective. Key-in dead bolt locks provide minimum security. Ask a locksmith for advice on your situation. · Change locks immediately if your keys are lost or stolen. · When moving into a new home, have all locks changed. Targeting the Outside: · Have adequate exterior lighting. A motion-sensitive light is recommended for backyards. · Trim trees and shrubs so that they cannot be used as hiding places for intruders. · Make sure your door hinges are on the inside. Windows: · Most windows can be pinned for security. · Drill a 3/16" hole on a slight downward slant through the inside window frame and halfway into the outside frame - place a nail in the hole to secure the window. Alarms: · An alarm system is excellent for home security. It provides peace of mind to homeowners, especially while on vacation. There is a wide variety of alarm systems on the market. · Make several inquiries to different companies for the best security system available to you. If you have a home alarm system, use it! Activate your alarm system — Alarm systems are only useful when you remember to activate them. Many individuals have alarm systems but do not arm them because it is inconvenient. Many burglars know this and will not be deterred by a window sticker or sign indicating that the home has an alarm system. If Your Home Is Broken Into: · If you come home to find an unexplained open/broken window or door: · Do not enter - the perpetrator may still be inside. · Use a neighbor's phone to call police. · Do not touch anything or clean up until the police have inspected for evidence. · Write down the license plate numbers of any suspicious vehicles. · Note the descriptions of any suspicious persons. Other precautions you should take: · Never leave keys under doormats, flowerpots, mailboxes or other “secret” hiding places -- burglars know where to look for hidden keys. · Keep a detailed inventory of your valuable possessions, including a description of the items, date of purchase and original value, and serial numbers, and keep a copy in a safe place away from home — this is a good precaution in case of fires or other disasters. Make a photographic or video record of valuable objects, heirlooms and antiques. Your insurance company can provide assistance in making and keeping your inventory. · Trim your shrubbery around your home to reduce cover for burglars. · Be a good neighbor. If you notice anything suspicious in your neighborhood, call the police immediately. · Mark your valuables with your driver's license number with an engraver you can borrow from your precinct. Marked items are harder for a burglar to dispose of and easier for police to recover. · Form a Neighborhood Watch Group. We can help you work with your neighbors to improve security and reduce risk of burglary. · Consider installing a burglar alarm system.

The Presidents special Advisor visits NCCI Sharlien Tjambari
This week during her stakeholder's consultation meeting in Erongo region Mrs Inge Zaamwani-Kamwi, the Constitutional Affairs and Private Sector Interface Special Advisor to the President, paid a special visit to the Namibian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) Swakopmund branch to discuss the Harambee Prosperity Plan and how the business community can get involved. Kamwi used a power point presentation which highlighted the goals and objectives of the Harambee plan in a much shorter and understandable version. According to what Kamwi said the Harambee Prosperity Plan is a targeted action plan which aim to accelerate development in clearly defined priority areas “the purpose of Harambee is to build a society where no one feel left out as the President Geingob says.” A few points that Kamwi discussed with the NCCI members was Effective Governance and Service Delivery which mostly focuses on Accountability and Transparency; Economic Advancement which focuses on local value addition through the full implementation of “Growth at Home” strategy by putting in place a broad based economic empowerment framework, and fast tracking land reform; Social Progress which is structured around four pillars namely: Hunger Poverty, Residential Land Servicing, Housing and Sanitation, Infant and Maternal Mortality and Vocational Education Training; Infrastructure Development and International Relations and Cooperation. Kamwi further said that the imple-
mentation of the Harambee plan is crucial for all Namibians, because the government wants to build a Namibian House where no one feel left out and want to achieve an equitable growth with

opportunities and shared prosperity. After the presentation, the people were delighted and said they are glad that Kamwi had availed her time to discuss what they believed was a delicate aspect and said they now have a much better and broader under-
standing of the Harambee plan, “at first I was very confused about the whole Harambee work and its meaning, but now I have a much clearer understanding of Harambee” said a young entrepreneur after the meeting.

The Swakopmund Town Council has called on the Namibia Public Passenger Transport Association (NPPTA) and the Namibia Bus and Taxi Association (NABTA) to put their differences aside and support each other when it comes to the management of the Mondesa Taxi Rank. This call was made by the Swakopmund Town Council. The rivalry between the two associations dates back to the year 2013. This issue was identified by Town Council as it is stated in the Agenda of the last meeting. “It is worth noting that the lack of cooperation between the two rivals is the main factor that contributed immensely to the inability of NABTA to manage the taxi rank as per the lease agreement (with council),” it states in the document. Town Council has subsequently decided that NPTTA be encouraged to give their full support to NABTA regarding the management at the taxi rank. According to the Agenda, Town Council in November 2013 decided to invite both organisations to give presentations regarding the management of the taxi rank. After these presentations, Council decided in March 2014 to give the taxi rank to NPTTA, which had presented a sound business and management plan. The rivalry began shortly afterwards, when the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development and the Ministry of Works had sent circulations to all Local Authorities requiring them to allocate taxi ranks and other public transportation services solely to NABTA. “Due to the fact that NPTTA had already been informed of the Council resolution, Community Development Services at the time recommended that NPTTA be allowed to proceed with the management of the taxi rank, because cancellation might lead to unnecessary conflicts. Nevertheless, Council resolved the contrary as per the previous resolution,” it reads in the Agenda. The management of the taxi rank was awarded to NABTA, much to the dismay of NPTTA. Because of this decision NPTTA felt aggrieved and informed the municipality that they would not cooperate with NABTA in future. During March 2015 the Community Development
Services carried out a performance appraisal to determine whether NABTA was managing the taxi rank in accordance with the terms of the lease agreement. The investigation revealed “a number of flaws” on the part of NABTA. A meeting with all stakeholders in the office of the CEO was called thereafter. “In spite of words of encouragement and motivation from the CEO, who was the chairperson of that meeting, it was evident that the two rival associations were not prepared to work together on the taxi rank issue,” the Agenda states. During the meeting the NPTTA Secretary General made it clear that no cooperation should be anticipated from their side. In January this year a petition was handed in at the municipality stemming from local bus and taxi owners/drivers. In the document they list a number of issues regarding the taxi rank. They state that there is no communication and no committee to run the taxi rank. “We, the bus and taxi operators, would like to be given autonomy to run our taxi rank,” the petition reads. In February a further meeting was held to resolve these issues. “NPTTA's main problem with regard to the management of the taxi rank stems from the fact that the facility was taken away from them and then handed over to their rival association to manage,” the Agenda states. Council recognizes though that it would present serious challenges to the municipality to cancel the lease agreement with NABTA, since the current managing association is complying with the said agreement. Council has therefore recommended that NPTTA is encouraged to give their full cooperation to NABTA and to nominate representatives to serve on the envisaged taxi rank committee going forward.

Missing stop sign cause of collision in Walvis Bay The extreme danger missing road signs pose to motorists have been demonstrated on Friday night, when two cars collided on the corner of Theo-Ben Gurirab Avenue and 7th Road supposedly after one vehicle drove over an intersection where a stop sign was missing. The accident occurred shortly before 21:00. One person was injured. Nieuwoudt Boshoff: It's not right that the kids vandalised the sign, however, people in Walvis Bay are generally the most inconsiderate drivers in NAMIBIA. People are forever complaining about the taxi's, but they don't complain about their own driving! There is a lot of resurfacing going on in Walvis Bay at the moment, and just because the arrows and lines are not repainted yet, people are driving however they want, wherever they want, so to say, 'you didn't know it was a stop street' is really a crappy excuse, and to blame it on vandalism, is even worse! Just blame your own inconvenient road usage for the accident, and stop blaming others. You're a grown ass person with a licence, be considerate, or pay the price! Clinton Lang: That's hilarious. Nobody stops at stop street whether there is a sign or not. Besides, what is painted on the road? Dom mense. This metal box of coins belongs to a young lady who have been keeping the coins in her possession ever since she was a small girl. “The box was given to me by my grandmother who used to travel the world back in the 80's, I added a few myself as I was growing up.” Nicoleen (not her real name) says as a child, collecting historic coins also became her hobby “it is so overwhelming to have this in my possession and whenever I have friends over I always make sure I show them my collection, the oldest coin in my collection is from 1880. Nicoleen says she wants to find out if her coins holds any value “if there is anybody out there who knows of someone who might be interested in buying or someone who can tell me the worth of my coins I will be highly grateful,” Nicoleen concludes.

Narraville Build Together feel robbed Beneficiaries of 21 houses constructed under Government's Build Together Programme in Narraville want to know why they are made to pay more than other people under the same scheme. The programme is funded by Government to provide low-cost housing to people with incomes of less than N$3 000 per month. Beneficiaries are provided with loans of N$40 000 for a one-bedroom house repayable in 20 years. “We just want to know from the municipality what happened to our money. Why do we pay more than the N$40 000 paid by everyone in the country? The hinges on the doors are falling off and walls are cracked,” beneficiary Alexander Basson asked the town councillors during a community meeting on Tuesday. He said they paid N$92 000, because the Walvis Bay Municipality allegedly “kept changing contractors” and returning to beneficiaries with new contracts requiring them to pay more. An angry Basson asked that local contractors be given the job in the future, claiming that the municipality used foreign contractors who delivered houses of poor quality. “We literally fought to get the keys because the houses were standing there and nobody was handing them over to us. When we seek answers, officials at the municipality slam doors in our faces and send us from office to office,” he claimed. As none of the councillors were in a position to respond, municipal Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Muronga Haingura asked Basson and other aggrieved beneficiaries to go to his office so the matter can be discussed. Haingura explained that the N$40 000 was increased to N$80 000 as the amount was not sufficient for constructing proper houses. He could, however, not explain how people ended up paying more than N$80 000. Basson said they have already complained three times about their expensive houses, adding that municipality representatives are “acting as if they are hearing this for the first time.” Asked by Nampa whether the municipality was not aware of these complaints, Haingura said: “I am not going to respond to journalists' questions; that's why I asked the people to come to my office so that we can investigate the matter first.” Other residents asked for speed humps in Narraville to avoid speeding and accidents, as well as another clinic as the current one is always overcrowded. “I would like to thank the councillors for taking time to come and hear our problems. But I want to register my disappointment in the people of Narraville who just complain on the streets but they do not attend these meetings,” said one resident. There were about 20 people in attendance, the majority of them elderly residents. The Build Together Programme, which was absorbed by the national Mass Housing Programme in 2013, was reintroduced by Urban and Rural Minister Sophia Shaningwa last month. The minister instructed all local authorities to use available serviced land to start constructing houses under Build Together as soon as possible. (NAMPA)

Employees of Power Oyeno refuse to sign new employment contracts
Power Oyeno have a side office behind the Mass Houses in DRC, where some of the employees are also based. These houses were constructed by Power Oyeno Sharlien Tjambari Some employees of the Power Oyeno Group at DRC side office in Swakopmund are not happy with their employer, stating that the working conditions stipulated in a new contract does not correspond with their current contract. The employees voiced their grievances in a letter sent to namib times. In the letter the employees state, that they were forced to sign a new employment contract on 13 April and they had to do it within 30 minutes, without any prior notice given or enough time to read through the document thoroughly. “The reason, we were told, was that the Company ended the contract with the Namibia Housing Enterprise (NHE) and entered a new one with the Ministry of Urban & Rural Development, signed on 8th February 2016. Another reason given, was that the company's representative had to y back to South Africa the next morning. We therefore were rushed to sign,” it states. The explanation given to the employees is according to them not satisfactory. “We refused to sign the contract and requested for more time from the management to study the content, but the management team threatened us and said, should we not sign immediately, we would not be paid our salary for April. We needed explanations on many aspects in the new agreement, such as the commencement of duty. In the contract it states that we start on 1 April 2016, but we have been working already for more than a year,” the employees say. The employees further argue that their complaints, as dedicated employees of Power Oyeno, are never taken into consideration and their hard work is not recognised. “We are not being recognised while this company (Power Oyeno) is digging millions of money from our country. At the end of
the day we, the Namibian employees, are being treated like trash,” the letter reads. “We cannot remember when or how the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development and the Ministry of Labour checked up on the working conditions of the employees, yet they are so quick to give millions of Namibian Dollars to this Company, which does not comply with the Namibian Labour laws. We are crying in silence, because we are being shut down with threats by our employers. Slavery and discrimination still exist, but our elders are really failing to recognise it.” The employees also make heavy allegations against their employer, stating that they are being treated “like slaves and foreigners in our own country.” “We are being threatened with our job security, foul language and aggressive behaviour. We kept crying in silence, because we have mouths to feed, but if we had a shoulder to cry on we would have
cried out loud,” the letter reads. According to the employees, the current or existing contract with their signatures on will only expire in December this year. “We cannot sign a new contract while the old one is still active,” they argue. Before they intend on signing the new agreement the employees want proper closure of the old contract. Only then will they sign new contracts. During a telephonic conversation with the new Managing Director of Power Oyeno Mr Paulus Antonio, Antonio said that he is not aware of any of the above mentioned problems that the employees are having, “none of the people have contacted me regarding those issues and I am not aware of any of those problems. I would advise the people to follow the right channels, they should come to me and put their points down. Nobody should feel victimised and if you are not happy then I have to know why you are not
happy”. Antonio further said that the employees should know that there is now a new manager who wants everyone to work together in harmony “If you are not happy and feel that your supervisor is not listening to you then please come directly to my office and tell me in private what it is that does not make you happy”. In conclusion, Antonio emphasised that they (Power Oyeno) want to grow their company and if there are employees who cannot produce results then those employees should not expect to go with Power Oyeno to the next level. Antonio did not comment on the issue of the new contract that the employees were forced to sign and said that the employees who had issues with Power Oyeno were fully compensated and he does not understand which employees are unhappy. The names of employees who wrote the letter to namib times cannot be published because they asked for anonymity for fear of losing their jobs.

The Student Representative Council (SRC) of the International University of Management (IUM), Swakopmund Campus donated some items to the Erongo House of Safety in Tamariskia on Saturday. Some of the items donated were winter clothes, shoes, food, a hot water kettle and an iron. According to Daniel Shigwedha, the Chairperson of IUM Swakopmund Campus, the campus had a donation campaign which ran from the beginning of April and we wrote letters to most of the companies and businesses asking for any kind of donation but we only got
sponsorship from Big Daddy, who donated clothes and winter headwear. The rest of the items we bought with money contri-buted by every SRC member”. Shigwedha said the SRC committee members felt the need of giving back to the community and this is why they came up with the idea of the donation campaign. Shigwedha further said that the committee targeted the Erongo House of Safety because most of the people who do charity work focuses more on the informal settlements “we just felt that the orphanage homes in the suburbs are neglected and before we bought anything we visited Aunt Vicky to find out what the challenges are at the Erongo House of Safety and what they mostly needed.” Receiving the items on behalf of Erongo House of Safety was Ms Vicky Tjandero the house mother and Mr Uaaka a committee member of the Erongo House of Safety. Speaking on behalf of the committee Uaaka said the committee is very grateful and thanked the IUM SRC members for every effort they have made “we are very thankful and thank you for being a youth and thinking about the needs of your peers.”

The current six permanent employees at the clinic consist of two registered nurses (day & night shift) with dispensing licenses; one enrolled nurse; an administration controller; a general assistant, and one wellness coordinator. In partnership with Occupational Care Namibia (OCNAM), the clinic also enjoys the services of medical practitioner, Dr Cliff Webster on a weekly basis. Stella Mwenyo, one of the registered nurses at the clinic has been part of the team since 2012. Mwenyo: “This clinic most certainly enhances the lives of Hangana Seafood employees. It excites me when companies make an effort to contribute to good health of its workforce. While access to proper healthcare is essential, it is so expensive and unaffordable for most Namibians. And though medical aid subscription is made available to staff, most employees choose not to subscribe, because of the high cost involved. Employees choose to use their disposal income to care for their extended families, and therefore make use of government facilities. This clinic basically comes to their rescue. It is Hangana Seafood in support of the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MOHSS) making sure that its workforce receives access to proper healthcare, for free.” According to Mwenyo, all employees that work onsea undergo eye-sight and hearing tests every six months as standard procedure, and all Hangana Seafood employees receive this treatment at the start of employment, as well as when they leave the company.

11th National Mathematics Congress Swakopmund, 17 – 19 May 2016 During the 11th National Mathematics Congress, 260 mathematics educators, including classroom teachers, advisory teachers, UNAM lecturers and officials from the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture reflected on how to develop our learners' understanding of mathematics by making connections between concepts and contexts. Professor Marc Schaefer from Rhodes University, Dr Barbara Peters from UNAM and Ms Kerryn Vollmer from Cape Town presented series of workshops for the different school phases. Professor Eric Hamilton from Pepperdine University in the United States gave a course in media making for a group of selected teachers. However, many local presenters, which included some classroom teachers, shared their research and best teaching practices with their colleagues. During a panel discussion and subsequent group discussions on “What can we do to improve mathematics results in Namibia” teachers committed themselves to fulfil all their teaching duties with dedication and to join hands and work together within their schools, their clusters and their regions. They called for more support, mentoring, supervision and professional develop-ment opportunities to improve their teaching skills. This annual event is organised under the umbrella of the Directorate of Programmes and Quality Assurance of Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture and sponsored by Langer Heinrich Uranium as the main sponsor (N$250 000 in 2016), the Pupkewitz Foundation, the Hansa Hotel and the Municipality of Swakopmund and supported by Casio Calculators, Pearson Namibia, Namibia Publishing House and Simply Sales Educational Materials.

Warum Introvertierte dir nicht in die Augen schauen Ich bin schon lange fasziniert davon, dass andere Menschen mir direkt in die Augen schauen, während sie reden. Manchmal bin ich davon so irritiert, dass mir das Zuhören schwer fällt. Dann fragte ich mich: Wie machen sie das? Und vor allem: Warum kann ich das nicht? Extrovertierte suchen ganz natürlich den Augenkontakt. Beim Reden erhöhen sie ihn sogar, um die Reaktio-
nen des Gegenüber besser aufzunehmen. Beim Zuhören scannen sie hin und wieder die Umgebung nach neuen Reizen. Introvertierte hingegen müssen sich zum Augenkontakt eher zwingen. Für mich fühlt es sich nicht natürlich an, anderen Menschen in die Augen zu schauen. Grundsätzlich weiche ich Blicken aus. Es ist wie ein eingebauter Reflex. Doch ich weiß, dass es entscheidenden

Der schlaue Fuchs Ein Fuchs, der sprach zu seiner Frau: „Wir brauchen einen größ’ren Bau! Sind erst die Kinder auf der Welt, die Enge uns hier nicht gefällt! Drum werde ich von dannen geh’n um nach was Neuem auszuspäh’n. Ein Fuchs-Penthouse mit Südbalkon…“ Die Füchsin rief: „Ich freu‘ mich schon!“ Der Fuchs lief in den nahen Hain und traf die Wölfin Ann-Kathrein… Die beiden war’n ein Liebespaar, doch trotzdem war den beiden klar, in festen Händen auch zu bleiben, sich ab und zu die Zeit vertreiben… Der Fuchs war noch nicht lange weg, da bog ein großer Wolf ums Eck, der klopfte bei der Füchsin an, und sie rief: „Endlich! Komm heran! Du schöner, starker Liebesheld! Dein grauer Pelz mir gut gefällt!“ Auch sie war’n heimlich längst liiert, Ach je, was in der Welt passiert… Doch da der Fuchs vermögend war, der Wolf nur hatte schönes Haar, wollt‘ ihn die Füchsin als Galan, doch ihren Fuchs als Ehemann…
Einfluss darauf hat, wie ich wahrgenommen werde, also versuche ich es. Beim Zuhören gelingt es für kurze Phasen ganz gut, solange mein Gegenüber mich durch seinen starren Blick nicht irritiert. Wenn ich selbst rede, ist es jedoch ausgeschlossen, dabei jemandem in die Augen zu schauen. Ich fokussiere ganz auf meine Gedanken und wie ich sie ausdrücken möchte. Warum weichen Introvertierte den Blicken aus? Das unterschiedliche Verhalten von Extrovertierten und Introvertierten ist vor allem eine Frage der Stimulation. Introvertierte können nicht viel Stimulation vertragen und versuchen diese zu rationieren. Zu viele Reize sind irritierend und belastend. Genau das kann man in Gesprächen mit anderen Menschen nicht gebrauchen. Gespräche sind ohnehin schon stimulierend. Vor allem in ungewohnten Situationen benötigen Introvertierte ihre Energie, um Informationen aus ihrem Gedächtnis abzurufen und auszuformulieren. Der direkte Augenkontakt führt dann schnell zur Überreizung - für Introvertierte ist er zu intensiv. Letztendlich fehlt die Konzentration, die für das Gespräch notwendig ist. Wenn mein Blick ausweicht, hat dies also nichts mit Schüchternheit oder Angst zu tun. Ich habe auch nichts zu verbergen. Ich vermeide lediglich eine Ablenkung und konzentriere mich auf das Wesentliche: Zuhören und Reden. Patrick

Liebe Küstenleser! In welchem Tempo wir leben, ist nicht nur eine Sache des Zeitmanagements, sondern auch eine individuelle Entscheidung, die von Faktoren abhängt wie zum Beispiel, wo wir leben, wie wir uns fühlen, wie viel Energie wir haben, wie unsere Persönlichkeit strukturiert ist, wie sehr wir im Einklang mit uns sind und wie sinnerfüllt das Leben für uns ist. Der südafrikanische Milliardär Christoffel Wiese, der das Einzelhandelsunternehmen Shoprite leitet, oder der US-amerikanische Multi-Milliardär Warren Buffett dürften wahrscheinlich wie ein Gepard auf Jagd durchs Leben rasen, und man darf annehmen, dass das Gejage zu ihrer Persönlichkeit passt. Der Tagesablauf und das Lebenstempo eines
buddhistischen Mönches, der/das von Meditation, Gebeten und Studien der buddhistischen Schriften bestimmt wird, ist wohl vergleichsweise eher mit der Schnecke zu vergleichen. Auch hier darf man annehmen, dass das asketische Leben im und ums Kloster freiwillig gewählt wurde. Tatsache ist, dass die Zeit sich für uns Menschen nicht geändert hat, da wir sie nach einer Uhr messen. Eine
Minute hat weiterhin 60 Sekunden, eine Stunde noch immer 60 Minuten. Wir gehen halt nur unterschiedlich mit ihr um. Und das Phänomen faszinierte Robert Levine so sehr, dass er es als Professor der Sozialen Psychologie an der State University California 30 Jahre lang erforschte. Er wollte wissen, warum gewisse Menschen immer gestresst und hektisch
wirkten, während andere sich gerne beurlauben ließen und eine ruhige Kugel schoben, warum manche wenig und andere viel Zeit zu haben schienen. Levine bereiste mit einem Team von Wissenschaftlern mehrere Großstädte in 31 verschiedenen Ländern, um herauszufinden, wo es rasant und wo gemütlich zuging. Zunächst erfassten die Forscher die durchschnittliche Gehgeschwindigkeit von
mindestens 35 zufällig ausgewählten Fußgängern über 20 Meter. Zweitens analysierten sie die Schnelligkeit am Arbeitsplatz. Und drittens notierten sie die Genauigkeit von 15 willkürlich ausgewählten Uhren an Bankgebäuden und verglichen sie mit der Zeitansage. Das Ergebnis ergab eine Rangliste der fünf schnellsten Länder (Schweiz, Irland, Deutschland, Japan, Italien) und der fünf
langsamsten Länder (Syrien, El Salvador, Brasilien, Indonesien, Mexiko). Ich nehme mal an, dass Afrika bei der Untersuchung nicht bereist wurde! Fazit: Das Lebenstempo ist dort am schnellsten, wo eine auf Individualismus ausgerichtete Kultur vorherrscht, die Wert auf Leistung legt, wo die Wirtschaft funktioniert, die Einwohnerzahl hoch und das Klima kühl ist. Und

wie Wasch- oder Spülmaschinen, Computer, Smartphones usw. nehmen uns viele Aufgaben ab. Autos und Züge fahren schneller, und wir ,,jetsetten” mit Flugzeuge von einem Winkel der Erde zum nächsten. Dennoch sind viele Menschen in Eile. Eine Umfrage, die Levine und seine Mitarbeiter unter Großstadtmenschen führten, ergab, dass die meisten meinen, zu wenig Zeit für die wirklich wichtigen Dinge in ihrem Leben, wie Freunde, Partner oder Hobbys zu haben. Levine stellte übrigens auch ganz subjektiv fest, dass ihm Menschen, die gemächlich durchs Leben schritten, wesentlich sympathischer waren als die aufgeputschten Wirbelwinde, die selten zum Stillstand kamen. Deshalb entschloss er sich, weniger stürmisch dem Geld nachzujagen und einen gelasseneren Lebensrythmus anzustreben, um mehr Zeit haben zu können. Levine, du bist mein Mann. Die Swakop-Mündung bot mit ihrer starken Brandung und starker Versandung eigentlich keine günstige Anlegemöglichkeit für Schiffe, wurde jedoch mangels anderer Alternativen, vor allem aber wegen ihrer günstigen Verbindungen ins Hinterland seit 1892 als Hafen ausgebaut. Die Schiffe mussten etwa eine halbe Seemeile vom Strand entfernt auf offener Reede ankern. Die Ladung musste mit Leichtern gelöscht werden. Wie Passagiere an Land kamen, ist das Thema hier. POSITION: TECHNICAL MANAGER The Company currently manages two large BATM Meridian type pelagic fishing trawlers and requires the full time focus of a technical expert for its Namibian operations. Job Responsibilities: · Responsible for the overall management and technical operations of the fleet. This includes overseeing the daily operations of maintenance and repair, budgeting, survey schedules, onboard general assessment of vessels, inspections and docking, etc. · Ensure the assigned vessels are technically operational or otherwise managed accordingly to the management agreement requirement. · Liase with customers on technical and operational matters including vessel performance, etc. · Attend to vessel dry docking, repairs and survey when required and determine repair specifications for dry docking and maintenance. · Provide and compile documented reports upon completion of dry docking, including summaries of works performed, operational budgets, and actual expenditures. · Identify and source for technical and operational supplies required for the vessels and ensure the rates are most economical. · Ensure that all copies of statutory, solas and equipment certificates (life rafts, compasses, etc.) are properly maintained and documented. · Provide technical assistance and advice to ships both at home port and overseas. · Perform evaluation for dry-docking, repair quotes and selection of shipyards for repair works, ship maintenance etc. · Perform monthly review of logs processes and attend to vessel inspections. · Monitor technical status of vessel with relation to class cert and survey. · Supervise contractors' repair/maintenance of vessels. ∙ Perform budgeting and cost control measures on ship spares and docking requirements. · Perform technical compliance audits and investigation on defects/failures on a regular scheduled basis to ensure conformance. · Undertake any other Technical related assignments as and when required. Requirements: · Min Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with at min 10 -15 yrs. relevant experience in similar position. · or, Possess relevant sea-going work experience as Chief Engineer/Marine Engineer with minimum class 2 certification or equivalent with in experience. · Possess good organizational and communication skills and hands-on. · Independent and resourceful. To be sat in such a spacious, classy and well equipped cabin while piloting a one-tonne pick-up in such conditions does feel a little incongruous. But just as SUVs went from utility to luxury, so too are pick-ups – and on this evidence, the revised Ranger is leading the way. It's also leading the way on price, in that it's showing the world how expensive these trucks have become. For this reason, the entry-level XLT is probably Ford's best chance of keeping buyers away from rivals that don't cost as much. Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton posted the fastest time Thursday in an eventful first practice session of the Monaco Grand Prix, a race he has not won since 2008. Family begins legal action against F1, FIA over Jules Bianchi death
Jules Bianchi's family has taken the first steps of legal action against the FIA, the Formula One Group and the Marussia team over the death of their son after the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix. Bianchi passed away last July as the result of head injuries he sustained in a crash during the 2014 race at Suzuka, after he hit a mobile crane that had been dispatched to pick up the Sauber of Adrian Sutil. Although an official FIA report into Bianchi's death cleared F1 chiefs of any wrongdoing over what happened that day, the Frenchman's family are adamant that big mistakes were made. After months of deliberation, they have decided to begin legal action in the United Kingdom against F1's commercial arm, its governing body and the Marussia team. Bianchi's father Philippe said: “We seek justice for Jules, and want to establish the truth about the decisions that led to our son’s crash at the Japanese Grand Prix in 2014. “As a family, we have so many unanswered questions and feel that Jules’ accident and death could have been avoided if a series of mistakes had not been made.” Bianchi's legal action is being led by Stewarts Law – which has sent pre-action letters of claims to the FIA, Marussia and the Formula One Group of companies. The letter explained why the Bianchi family believes they are responsible for the accident. Stewarts Law partner Julian Chamberlayne said: “Jules Bianchi’s death was avoidable. The FIA Panel Inquiry Report into this accident made numerous recommendations to improve safety in Formula 1 but failed to identify where errors had been made which led to Jules’ death. “It was surprising and distressing to the Bianchi family that the FIA panel in its conclusions, whilst noting a number of contributing factors, blamed Jules. The Bianchi family are determined that this legal process should require those involved to provide answers and to take responsibility for any failings. "This is important if current and future drivers are to have confidence that safety in the sport will be put first. If this had been the case in Suzuka, Jules Bianchi would most likely still be alive and competing in the sport he loved today.” The Bianchi family is to attend this week's Monaco Grand Prix.

Pangolin trader granted bail A Windhoek resident arrested on Monday by members of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)'s Protected Resources Unit while in possession of a live pangolin and two pangolin skins, has been granted bail. The 37-year-old Chrispin Sibitwani was granted N$1 500 bail when he made his first appearance in the Windhoek Magistrate's Court along Lüderitz Street on Thursday morning. Sibitwani is charged with two counts of illegal possession of or dealing in controlled wildlife products, and having contravened some sections of the Controlled Wildlife Products and Trade Act of 2008 for the illegal possession of a live wild animal. He told Windhoek Magistrate Ilge Rheent that he will plead not guilty to the charges. Public Prosecutor Ivan Tjizu did not object to the granting of bail. His case was postponed to 1 August in order to allow him to apply for legal representation from the Justice Ministry's Directorate of Legal Aid. Sibitwani was arrested on Monday at about 15h00 at an office unit rented by the Shimwe Security Company in the Edumeds Building Complex along Independence Avenue in the capital. The live pangolin was found hidden in a safe, while the pangolin skins were found in a maize meal bag. Pangolins are covered in tough scales made of keratin like human hair and nails. They are found across Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia, and mostly eat ants and termites. The scales of the endangered species are dried and sold in Asia to cure cancer and other health conditions. They are known for sticky tongues that in some cases are longer than their bodies. (NAMPA)

Two men in court for attacking farmer Two men accused of viciously attacking and robbing an 82-year-old farmer outside Otavi on Monday, appeared in court Thursday morning. The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)'s Otjozondjupa Detective Chief Inspector, Naukalemo Andreas told Nampa the 38-year-old Hans Gamgabeb and Etuna Pahukeni, 32, appeared in the Otavi Magistrate's Court on charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) and robbery. They appeared before Magistrate Clara Mwilima, who explained their legal rights to apply for a State funded lawyer through the Ministry of Justice's Legal Aid Department, defend themselves or engage a private lawyer. Both suspects opted to conduct their own defence and were remanded in custody pending police investigations. It is alleged that Gamgabeb and Pahukeni on Monday at approximately 15h38 entered Farm Dennis, situated about 10 Kilometres north of Otavi, and attacked the owner of the farm, Alec Kriel. The accused allegedly found Kriel cleaning the garden surrounding the farmhouse when they approached him from behind, grabbed him and assaulted him with unknown objects until he was unconscious. They then allegedly put Kriel into a nearby rubbish bin and poured the garden refuse and pebbles he was collecting onto him to cover his body. Andreas said the two suspects then allegedly entered the farmhouse and stole various valuable goods. “On that same Monday evening we arrested Gamgabeb and the next day we arrested Pahukeni, who was caught selling some of these stolen goods from Farm Dennis in Otavi,” Andreas said. Kriel, who was alone at the farm on Monday, regained consciousness alone from under the garden refuse and was taken to the Tsumeb State Hospital by neighbours. He was admitted in critical condition. Andreas said Gamgabeb and Pahukeni have a record of robbery and assault cases. Police investigations in the matter continue. (NAMPA)
Geingob heads Standard to Sweden Bank alleged
President Hage Geingob has left for Stockholm, Sweden to attend the Progressive Governance Conference on 26 and 27 May 2016. Geingob will be attending the conference under the theme 'Knowledge is Power: Education, jobs and equality in the 21st century'. He is expected to share his analyses and proposals on designing successful education and training systems to match job needs by tackling inequality. Press Secretary in the Office of the President, Albertus Aochamub said in a media statement issued Wednesday the Head of State will be part of a panel which comprises of leaders from Sweden, Albania, Norway and the Philippines. He noted that challenges like global terrorism and climate change threats, the international migration crisis, social risks associated with stagnation of unemployment, and the continued rise of income and wealth inequalities can only be addressed by collective solutions and international cooperation. The Progressive Governance Conference was established in 1999 by former United States of America President Bill Clinton to provide progressive governments and academic experts with an arena to exchange ideas and create a peaceful network on how to promote progressive politics and sustainable globalisation strategies. The event follows Progressive Governance Conferences organised in Santiago, London, Oslo, Dublin, Copenhagen and Amsterdam in recent years, where issues like economic and social recession, global economic crises, progressive politics and leadership were debated. Geingob will also attend a dinner with nine other democratic leaders from around the world, aimed at discussing progressive responses to achieve equality and education for all. Air Namibia celebrates 25 years of the WHK-Luanda route Air Namibia flights to and from Angola contribute to the economic development of the two countries in terms of employment creation, tourism and trade, Air Namibia's acting Managing Director Mandi Samson says. The national airline has been flying the WindhoekLuanda, Angola route for 25 years. Speaking to Nampa on the side lines of the silver jubilee celebrations of the route in Luanda on Friday she said the company employs 15 Angolans at their Luanda office, and is thus contributing to employment creation here. “There is no doubt that these flights facilitated and continue to facilitate trade between our countries; we have Angolans coming to Namibia to buy goods and vice-versa,” she said. More than 100 000 passengers use the Namibian airbus to and from Angola every year. The route is shared with Angolan airline, Taag Angola. Samson said despite the current economic challenge in Angola, the company remains strong and committed to service the route. “We are here to serve the community and we do plough back whatever we get out of it,” she said. Air Namibia’s Country Manager in Angola Marisa de Almeida said Angolans appreciate the company's services in the country and will continue to support the airline. Speaking on board Air Namibia en route to Luanda on Thursday, Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry's (NCCI) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tarah Shaanika said he has had a wonderful flying experience with the airline for many years. “We would like to see more flights going to Angola, because we want to increase our business activities, particularly the exchange of business visits between the Namibian people and their Angolan counterparts,” he added. Shaanika added that the flights boost tourism in Namibia as many Angolan tourists visit Namibia. On his part, Air Namibia's Corporate Communications Manager Paul Nakawa thanked the Angolan people and Government for the continuous support to Air Namibia and Namibia as a country. “It has been 25 years now and we are still going strong; we are really grateful for that. This good relationship can also be attributed to our historical ties with Angola, especially during the liberation struggles of our two sister countries,” Nakawa said. Farmworker gets fraudster 42 years for rape wants bail and murder
A Standard Bank of Namibia employee, who is facing a charge of fraud in respect of missing N$ 4 million from the local commercial bank, wants to be released on bail. The 32-year-old Charles Winston Manale, through his privately instructed defence lawyer Kennedy Haraseb of the Metcalfe Attorneys, on Monday brought a formal bail application in the Windhoek Magistrate's court along Lüderitz Street. Manale informed Windhoek Magistrate Ilge Rheent, who is presiding over the formal bail application, that once released on bail, he will not attempt to abscond from Namibia to neighbouring countries to evade prosecution. He also said he will abide to whatever conditions set down in the bail application. Public Prosecutor Rowan van Wyk is representing the State. The Namibian Police Force's (NamPol) Commercial Investigations Unit formally arrested Manale shortly after he surrendered himself to the police on 28 January 2016. He was on the run for weeks after the bank discovered the irregularities of missing monies. According to a summary of substantial facts contained in the charge sheet, Manale has been on the run since 20 December 2015. He was working at Standard Bank Namibia's Trust Account Division in Windhoek. The bail hearing continues today. (NAMPA)
A farmworker found guilty of raping and killing an elderly woman in the Ovitoto area east of Okahandja in September 2009, was Thursday sent to jail for an effective total of 42 years.
Paulus Titus was earlier found guilty by High Court Judge Nate Ndauendapo on a charge of rape and murder in connection with the death of his employer, Erica Tjiho, 75, who was found dead inside her corrugated iron zinc house in Ovitoto on 1 September 2009. The 36-year-old Titus was also found guilty on a third count of theft in respect of clothing and an unspecified amount of money he took from the house of the deceased person shortly after the incident. On the count of murder, Titus was sentenced to 30 years imprisonment. He got 12 years on the second count of raping the elderly pensioner. On the last count of theft, Titus was sentenced to one (1) year imprisonment, which was ordered to be served concurrently with the sentence imposed in the first count of murder. “This was a horrible attack which was perpetrated against the defenceless pensioner. The deceased person was 75-years-old when her life was cut short by the attacker- Paulus Titus, “ said the Judge as he sent Titus behind bars. However, Titus claimed that he had only slapped the late Tjiho a number of times in the face out of anger, because she had failed to pay him wages he was promised and because she had tried to prevent him from leaving the place where he had been working for her in the Ovitoto area. Titus had also disputed the correctness of the Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) results, which found a match of his DNA profile in samples collected from Tjiho's private parts. Tjiho died as a result of strangulation. State Advocate Carol-Ann Esterhuizen appeared for the prosecution. Gobabis-based defence lawyer Hipura Ujaha defended Titus on instructions of the Justice Ministry's Directorate of Legal Aid. Titus is a first offender with no previous criminal case. He spent six (6) years in custody awaiting the finalisation of trial .(NAMPA)

New challenge for biking enthusiasts There is only one week to go and then entries for the 2016 FNB Otjihavera Experience will open. This great cycling event was launched on 17 May 2016 by FNB Namibia and the Rock and Rut club and will be held for the 11th time on 20 and 21 August 2016 at the Midgard Country Estate. “Cycling in Namibia has grown in popularity over the last few years and is managed and handled well by numerous clubs to make a variety of events unforgettable. On 11 June 10 finalists will be announced for the Face of the tournament. The total prize in the pot will be N$50 000 and the netball prize will be N$10 000. In conjunction with this they will also have a music festival. This will be launched under the supervision of the Erongo Football League Chairman Charles K Muukua.
Mannetti has big headache ahead Cosafa The Brave Warriors might go into the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa) Cup without four prominent players. Willem Mwedihanga, Ronald Ketjijere and Peter Shalulile have crucial club commitments over the same period, while Petrus Shitembi is currently being nursed in injury. These players have made significant contributions in the senior national team over the past few years and also featured in the Namibian team that won the Cosafa Cup in South Africa last year. Namibia will defend this title here from 11 to 25 June 2016 against 13 other nations. Coach Ricardo Mannetti said he had requested their clubs to release them and is currently waiting for a response. Mwedihanga and Ketjijere play for the University of Pretoria, while Shalulile plies his trade for South African National First Division (NFD) side Highlands Park. Shitembi plays for Amazulu in the NFD.
“The play-offs for the PSL (South African Premier Soccer League) will start Wednesday and three of our prominent players are featuring for their clubs in those matches. “As for Mwedihanga and Ketjijere, I really don't think they (club management) will allow them because they are playing against Mbombela (FC) in their play-offs on the same day we are playing Botswana. Our focus now is to look at the local players we travelled with to Ghana and get them ready for the competition,” he told Nampa on Tuesday. Namibian-based players were in Ghana recently for a training camp. Mannetti said these players did well and he will use them in the game against Niger in Windhoek on 04 June, and then select the main squad for the Cosafa Cup.
