Commercial divers used hi-tech eco-sounding yesterday to determine possible underwater damage to the Japanese tuna long liner, Fukuseki Maru, that ran aground in the Cape Cross area on Wednesday (21 March). The fact that the vessel is rolling from port to starboard in heavy swell makes diving conditions impossible, hence the use of echosounding technology, explained salvage expert Paul van der Merwe of Walvis Bay Diving yester-day. Walvis Bay Diving is a leading local salvage, diving and launch
service provider. The salvage vessel SA Amandla (owned by Ansol) in the meantime arrived at the scene on Sunday where the vessel ran aground. A helicopter was used to rescue some of the crew from the stricken vessel, whilst salvage equipment was also dropped on the vessel's deck at the same time. A salvage team arrived at the scene yesterday and preparations for
salvage promptly commenced. According to van der Merwe, sea conditions are not yet favourable to make the first attempt for SA Amandla to pull the stricken vessel from the rocks. An alarming pattern now developing in the drug trade at the coast The Namibian Police, Narraville Neighbourhood Watch in Walvis Bay and the Mondesa Neighbourhood Watch in Swakopmund arrested two Congolese nationals during an anti-drug sting operation in Swakopmund on Friday. The arrest of foreigners, mostly refugees from the Osire refugee camp, on drug possession charges has risen to alarming rates in
recent weeks. The Police says foreigners are stationed across Namibia in the drug trade, but more specifically in Walvis Bay and Swakop-

Yusufu Karungurunwe (26) was arrested at around 20:00 on Friday evening in Eugene Muller Street near Ocean View Spar. He was busted dealing in 2 grams of cocaine powder. The cocaine powder was valued at N$1000. Twenty minutes later, Moise Kalunga (23) was arrested at Erf no 25 Festus Gonteb Street in Mondesa with 38 grams of cocaine in his possession. The cocaine powder was valued at an estimated N$20 000. Moreover, Kalunga also had cash of N$1350-00 in his possession.

Donating Life Saving Equipment
Tweyapo Fishing Investments has recently donated Life Saving Equipment (12 Leads Electrocardiograph and Suction unit) to St Raphael Health Recovery Clinic. A donation was also made towards the Promiseland Trust in the form of canned fish. Promiseland Trust received the fish for its two feeding projects consisting of a soup kitchen where 250 underprivileged children are fed daily from Monday to Friday in Kuisebmond at Walvis Bay. At the soup kitchen children are also taught basic hygiene and ethical values. The second section is the school feeding programme. Promiseland and community volunteers feed 1500 children per day during school terms. It is carried out at seven schools with fish and bread the staple. Mr Ivory Uirab, an official at the Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources officiated at the handover recently on behalf of the Minister of Fisheries and
Marine Resources Bernhart Esau. "Our Minister always encourage fishing companies to give back to the communities through corporate social responsibility initiatives. Initiatives like seen here today by Tweyapo Fishing is an example. Fishing companies benefit from a natural resource of Namibia and therefore a part of the profits need to be ploughed back into our communities. Uirab added he is confident this equipment will save many lives, especially in the event of road accidents. Mr Van Zyl assured Tweyapo Fishing will continue to support Government efforts to uplift the people of Namibia, with specific emphasis on the underprivileged, vulnerable groups and the handicapped.

of Safety Security for illegal detention. This source further explained an alarming pattern has been developing of late where people lay charges at the Namibian Police for theft under false pretence, but in all cases it
transpired to be business related deals which can only be remedied in a civil court. "We see people using the Namibian Police now as debt collectors. This is an alarming development for justice

Narraville Shack Dwellers ready to begin construction Narraville Shack Dwellers cleaned a 24 500 square meters plot on 17 March allocated to them in 2012. The plot is now ready for construction activities for each of these shack dwellers to have the dream come true of an own home. In 2012 there were 68 shack dwellers of this particular group, but it since grew to 790 people. These 790 people are organised into 32 groups and they saved a total of N$260 843-00 and is ready to use this money to construct the homes.

SA Amandla on salvage mission of Japanese tuna long line vessel
The South African salvage vessel SA Amandla has arrived off Cape Cross over the weekend to part-take in the salvage operation to refloat the Japanese tuna long liner Fukuseki Maru that ran aground last Wednesday. Preparations are ongoing to make the first attempt next week to pull the vessel off the rocks when the tides are exceptionally high during spring tide. Sulphur eruptions are caused when plankton dies off. The decaying process deprives the water of oxygen. Crowds of people converged on the lagoon to pick dead fish off the shores. The oxygen starved fish were also easy targets for people who caught it using improvised catching devices like buckets and even plastic bags. 3 tonnes of litter picked up Volunteers collect 3 tonnes of litter at Walvis Bay's TeamUP2CleanUP. After two successful clean up events, TeamUP2CleanUP took to the entrances to Walvis Bay last Fri-ay. A brainchild of the Municipality of Walvis Bay's Department of Water, Waste and Environmental Management, Team Up to Clean Up, is a community clean-up project, aimed at consolidating efforts to encourage the public and stakeholders to keep the environment clean. Allocated to take place on a quarterly basis, the first Team Up to Clean Up took place last year in Kuisebmond in September and in Narraville on 29 November 2017. To date, Team Up to Clean Up has collected 3300kg of litter and over 480 community members have volunteered to participate. Apparently, there are more schools at the coast who have furniture looking like that presented in the said article. Why in the first place must benches and chairs be maltreated like those in the photo? Students should be advised that everything costs money and that Government has to use tax payers' money to provide those articles. Why are students not disciplined right there in class? To break these article makes a lot of noise and teachers must be able to hear it. There are many inmates in the prison who can work with wood (or learn to work with wood for that matter). The school benches, chairs, normal school or any other office furniture for that matter of the government can be repaired under supervision by craftsmen in the prison. It is a useful task for the inmates to be trained in a job. May I even go further and suggest another idea: inmates on lighter punishments should be used around town (with their supervisors or guards for that matter) on a routine base to look after all the government properties and gardens. There is a lot of work and it can give the one or other the idea of becoming a woodworker or a gardener to make a living after having served their sentence.

Grade 8 Walk (Cleaning Campaign) The Grade 8 learners of Kuisebmond Secondary School had a big walk on 16 March under the guidance of their class teachers. This activity was done to make the learners aware of their surroundings when it comes to cleanliness as a clean environment is essential for healthy living. The learners cleaned up part of Kuisebmond community and were seen around the Kuisebmond streets and sea area with their black plastic bags. The aim of the exercise was also to teach them the importance of keeping their environment clean, and also to instil in them a sense of responsibility by not throwing litter anywhere around the environment. At the same time, this also brought children from different backgrounds together as one, teaching unity and diversity since we are about to celebrate Namibia's independence day.

On 8 March, Kuisebmond Secondary School held a history quiz in celebration of Black History month. This took place between Duinesig High School, Tutaleni High School and Kuisebmond Secondary School. Each school was represented by 5 learners. Here the learners learnt more about the Black history month. It dated back to1969 where a black historian, Carter Woods saw the need for black people to be proud and get educated on their history as it is part of their identity and therefore chose the month of February for its commemoration. The battle between the intellectuals of the schools was a heated one. We saw the exchanges of historical knowledge between the great minds of the above mentioned schools. After three rounds Kuisebmond Secondary school emerged as the overall winner, Duinesig took second place, with Tutaleni High coming in third place. The Learners Representative Council presented a special award to the best overall speaker and was awarded to Elizabeth Nuugulu from Kuisebmond Secondary.

“Danny” Felesianu to face Kaptein in Final preparation fight

Kurt handed out 5 fine prizes on behalf of Janie. We had 26 players contesting. Willie van Zyl and Jonathan Mather scored two clubs. The greens were too fast for more than that. Andre Burger won the Jackpot. Willie van Zyl and Herman Neethling won with 91 points. Willie and Herman also won the pairs competition which gives them a chance to compete for a trip to Portugal. Andre Burger and Pieter Van Niekerk were second with 87 points. Kevin Wenzel and Willie van Zyl were third with 81 points. Jans Stander and Gunter Heitman were 4th with78 points. Willie Els and Johan Du Plessis were in 5th place with 77 points This weekend is Easter. The club will be closed on Friday. There is no sponsored competition on Saturday but feel free to arrange your own game and enjoy the walk with your buddies. Stay safe and have a blessed weekend with the family.

Namibian professional boxer Albinius 'Danny' Felesianu will once again be in action on 30 March when the current IBF Lightweight Africa Champion takes on South African Lukhunyo Kaptein at the Mistico Equestrian Centre in Cape Town. The fight between the two protagonists, scheduled for eight rounds, will take place during the 'Make or Break' event hosted by South African-based boxing giants Kalakoda Promotions and Kwesé Sport. Felesianu is managed by The Dome Swakopmund but fights under Kalakoda's ban-ner, both in Namibia and South Africa. After two impressive performances in recent months, Kalakoda Promotions, through its CEO Steve Kalakoda, want to give the Swakopmund-based athlete one last preparation fight before he moves onto a much bigger task. "Danny has made huge improvements over recent months. We are very happy with his progress. It is important that we build him up slowly. After this fight, we are looking at a title defence or giving him the chance to add another piece of silver-ware to his name", Kalakoda explained. During his most recent outing in December 2017, 'Danny' had a short work day as his thundering left hook sent Raston Kayira from Malawi crashing to the canvas after 47 seconds in the second round. It was Felesianu's 15th career win. His last loss, one of only two since joining payed ranks, dates back more than 10 years. Judging by Kaptein's
lack of experience on the big stage, with only 10 professional fights to his name, Felesianu is expected to emerge victorious. "I've been training very hard and I'm ready. This is another stepping stone for me on the way to the very top", Felesianu said. To keep the Namibian ace as far away from any distractions as possible, the Gondwana Hotel Group allowed 'Danny Boy' to set up camp in their Delight Hotel in Swakopmund for the past week before he jets off to Cape Town on Saturday to intensify training with Kalakoda and his team. "We put a lot of emphasis on supporting local talents and I'm sure we will continue helping as best as we can", Reinhardt Stanley, Manager of the Delight Hotel, explained. Felesianu continued by thanking the Gondwana Group, as well as his other sponsors: Naukluft Water, Opposite Lock, Auto Perfect, Bits 'n Pizzas and Legacy Boxing Club and The Dome Swakopmund.

Kudus lost in Windhoek Kudus rugby club lost their first away game in Windhoek against the 2017 league winner UNAM. This was the heist score against the coastal town boy in years. With the win UNAM are now six points clear on the log standing of the Namibia Rugby Premier League. The halftime score was 33-0 in favour of UNAM. The second half Kudus gave a much better performance but the defence of the UNAM Boytjie was too strong. UNAM scored seven tries to collect two bonus points. The results of the other premier league games that were played was: United beat Reho Falcon 56-17 Western Suburbs beat Wanderers 30-27 The results of the
reserve league game that was played on Saturday is: UNAM beat Kudus 27-10 Wanderers beat Western Suburbs 43-24 United beat Reho Falcon 35-18 In Swakopmund the derby match between Dolphins and the SFC Vikings delivered to expectations where the Dolphins had to work hard 16-9 victory over the Vikings. Dolphins put the first points on the board through a Donovan O'Brien penalty. Mo-
ments later, SFC Vikings lost No.8 Martin Barnard with a yellow card, just to return for a red, which saw the Vikings play with fourteen men for 60 minutes of the game. Another O'Brien penalty gave Dolphins a 6-0 lead in the first quarter of the match. In the second quarter leading to the break, it was young flyhalf Kyle Wentzel that kept Vikings on the board with two penalties that locked the score at 6-6 going into half time.
In the second half another Wentzel penalty gave SFC Vikings a 9-6 lead for most of the second half until Donovan O'Brien levelled the scores with a successful penalty goal. In the dying minutes of the game it was Dolphins that scored the only try of the match through Donovan Hummel and converted by O'Brien which gave Dolphins a 169 victory. "From a Vikings point of view, I feel that this is what a derby is all about. We saw a hard and quality match between the two sides. I think rugby in Swakopmund is in a good space at the moment and I'm sure both clubs will continue to work to the

next level" In Walvis Bay the derby between Erongo Rugby Academy and Walvis Bay rugby club was played at the Jan Wilkin Stadium. The men from Walvis Bay rugby club was too strong for the boytjies from the Academy as they won the game 29-5. On 7 April Kudus will host United and Dolphins will play against Walvis Bay Rugby Club at the Jan Wilken Stadium, Kick Off at 15:00. SFC Vikings will host Erongo Rugby Academy on 14 April at The SFC in Swakopmund, Kick Off at 15:00

Second indoor triathlon Biokinetic Rehabilitation Centre's 2nd indoor triathlon series event took place this past weekend on Saturday, 17 March. We received almost double the entries since our first event and we are very pleased with the turnout of events. We introduced 3 new categories i.e. Veterans/masters, teens and kiddies. The distances of the respective categories were: Advanced - 600m swim, 20km cycle, 5km run; Novice - 300m swim, 10km cycle, 2km run; Teens - 180m swim, 7km cycle, 1.5km run; Kiddies - 30m swim, 500m cycle, 100m run. The winners of each category were: Advanced female: Lelani Swart (1hr 0min 40sec), Advanced male: Morne Honnibal (56min 46sec), Novice female: Hesmar Venter (32min 8sec), Novice male: Rico Louw (30min 31sec), Masters male novice: Echi Himmel (36min 57 sec),

Leonard Martin and Silvio Suardi have completed the 2018 Absa Cape Epic they entered together as team KAMAKAZI in the Masters division from the majestic slopes of Table Mountain to the magnificence of the Grand Finale at Val de Vie Estate with the addition of a manic time trial in between – the 2018 Absa Cape Epic route is balanced and bold and untamed.
Starting with the Prologue on the
iconic Table Mountain (where the Prologue
was last held in 2015), the 2018 Absa Cape
Epic will visit Robertson, Worcester
and Wellington, and finish at the Val de Vie Estate in the PaarlFranschoek Valley. Riders will spend three nights in Robertson for the first three stages, with a transition stage to Worcester, where they will stay for one night before settling down in Wellington until heading to the Grand Finale at Val de Vie (which has also been announced as the home for the Grand Finale for the next five years) The total distance of 658km with 13 530m of climbing will include four consecutive days of over 100km, again featuring the Land Rover Technical Terrain sections on each of the eight days. The final stage is far from an easy roll to the finish line and a race of truth with the reintroduction of a time trial on Stage 5 that could shake up the race amongst the elites. In a break with tradition, the final stage of the Epic will not be the easy day it has been in the past, taking riders from Wellington to Val de
