Semi-purified water woes for Walvis Bay and Arandis

A further delay of eight days in the reinstatement of semi-purified effluent water to Walvis Bay water consumers have been announced by the municipality of Walvis Bay on Wednesday. Semi-purified effluent supply would only come online now by 14:00 on 28 March, according to a media statement in this regard.

Semi-purified effluent is the by-product of sewerage waste water treatment and is used mainly for gardening water for public parks, sport fields and consumers with semi-purified effluent connections as part of a paid municipal service. An upgrade of the waste water treatment plant is the reason for the further delay. Walvis Bay is already without semi-purified effluent for more than a week. Meanwhile, the town of Arandis is seemingly also encountering problems of a similar nature after its waste treatment plant were shut down due to a breakdown earlier. Arandis Town Council in a statement this week warned semipurified effluent water supply for watering of public gardens and other public green areas would only be restored by mid-April. The Communications Officer for Arandis Town Council, Irene Jacobs, confirmed to Namib Times the plant was shut down in mid-January after a steel structure broke. Jacobs added a contractor was appointed for repairs. This means that purified effluent will only be available from 14:00, 28 March 2019, due to the tasks being performed by the contractor until then.

Namibians are currently finding themselves in troubled waters with job losses due to an economic slowdown and a gripping drought that has many a farmer in peril. However, this nation has proven itself in the past to overcome the most daunting of challenges, a nation that will stand the test of time and mature into a society characterised by economic progress and shared prosperity. In what follows, the full extract of President Hage Geingob's 29th Independence Address: “Fellow Namibians, visitors, residents and Friends of Namibia, it is my honour to address you on this momentous day and in so doing, join you in celebrating our 29th Independence Anniversary. This is a day we celebrate the rewards of the struggle, waged by selfless women and men, whose blood nourishes the roots of our tree of independence, yielding the fruits of selfdetermination, sovereignty, freedom, liberty and justice. There is an old African proverb that goes, “However far a stream flows, it never forgets its origin.” In essence, this proverb encapsulates the reason why we revere this historically special day in our nations' calendar. Although the stream of independence has flowed for 29 years, we shall never forget its origin, we shall never forget our struggle and we shall never forget the sons and daughters that made our freedom a reality. It is not a secret that our fight for independence won us many friends, whose invaluable support, helped sustain our resolve, even during the most daunting moments of our struggle. The defining moment of this struggle took place during the climatic and legendary battle of Cuito Cuanavale, where Cuban, Angolan and SWAPO forces formed a triumphant tripartite to inflict heavy losses on the racist Apartheid Regime occupation army of South Africa. It is for this reason that March 23 has

been declared Day of the Liberation of Southern Africa; it is for this reason that we shall be meeting at Cuito Cuanavale on this day to commemorate the 31st Anniversary of this battle. This is the reason I say that Namibia is a Child of Pan African and International Solidarity, midwife by the United Nations. It is always pleasing to be able to celebrate one's anniversary in the company of f r i e n d s a n d t o d a y, amongst many of Namibia's regional, continental and international friends present here; we have a very special friend in our midst. Last year, I had the honour to attend the commemoration of Kenya's Heroes Day – Mashujaa Day at the invitation of a Dear Friend and Brother. At this event, I narrated the fact that Namibia's freedom was attained due to the Pan African bond we share with our brothers and sisters in Africa. When Namibians were victims of Apartheid aggression, the people of Africa stretched out the hand of solidarity. In the aftermath of the successful, free and fair elections of 1989 and our subsequent independence, Kenya was there to assist us until we became steady on our feet. When the rest of the UNTAG force departed, our Founding Father, Comrade Sam Nujoma, made a brotherly appeal to President Daniel Arap Moi, for the Kenyan Blue Helmet Contingent, under the leadership of Lieutenant General (Rtd) Daniel Ishmael Opande, to remain behind for three months, to help maintain stability, at the cost of the Kenyan Government. It is in this spirit of fraternal brotherhood and fraternal solidarity, that I am honoured, on behalf of the people of the Republic of Namibia, to welcome our Guest of Honour, His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta and the Kenyan delegation, who have joined us to partake in today's festivities. Thank you for accepting our invitation to join us in commemorating this special day, Karibu Your Excellency Fellow Namibians, Dear Friends, Anniversaries do not only offer us an opportunity to

reflect on where we have come from. They also offer us an opportunity to take stock and reflect on where we are today and where we are heading in the years to come. When we gathered in Windhoek, 29 years ago to witness the lowering of the Apartheid flag for the last time and the raising of our national flag for the first time, it marked the transition from old to new. Independence did not only bring with it new opportunities but new challenges. The struggle for political independence was won, but the struggle for economic independence had begun. As a nation, we have made significant strides over the past 29 years. We have established the firm foundations of democracy, unity, peace and stability, and used them to develop robust governance architecture, characterised by well-functioning processes, systems and institutions. Our track record in governance has been recognised both regionally and internationally and we are committed to continue strengthening our principles of effective governance, respect for the rule of law as well as respect for human life and dignity. In this vein, we will continue to channel material and intellectual l resources towards the strengthening of laws, policies and programmes directed towards combating crime, illicit substance and alcohol abuse, child abuse and gender-based violence. We remain steadfast and resolute in the pursuit of our ultimate objectives of economic emancipation and concomitant prosperity. The first course of action in this regard is to arrest the spread of the scourge of poverty within our society. For this reason, upon assumption of my Presidential responsibilities, four years ago, I declared a war on poverty and corruption. We have made tremendous progress over the years with regards to fighting poverty. We also made progress in fighting corruption by being transparent and accountable and by so doing, building trust for Transparency Accountability = Trust. Very few countries have been able to achieve poverty reduction rates like Namibia has achieved since Independence, so one can assume that with a new targeted approach towards combating poverty, we

stand to make even more inroads than before. In absolute terms, more than four hundred thousand Namibians were lifted out of poverty during the period from 19942010. Furthermore, the introduction of targeted social safety nets, including old age and social grants for people living with disabilities; orphans and vulnerable children, have played a significant role in reducing poverty levels in Namibia. We are cognisant that income inequality remains a problem in Namibia. This remnant of the Apartheid legacy is a lingering thorn in the flesh and a hindrance to our developmental efforts. In this regard, government will continue to formulate a legal framework focused on reducing the income gap. While we are committed to upholding the principle of fundamental rights as enshrined in our Constitution, which include the protection of private property, we recognise the urgent need for land delivery as a means to reduce poverty in the country. The successful Second Land Conference of October 2018 was a pivotal moment in our nation's history and a definitive step towards effectively addressing the land issue in our country, and thereby restoring the dignity of our people. Modern and well-maintained infrastructure is the cornerstone for economic growth and job creation. Since independence, government has invested heavily in infrastructure development and maintenance. This investment has led to significant strides in infrastructure development and today, Namibia boasts some of the most modern infrastructure networks on the continent. We are committed to continuing this tremendous progress in infrastructure development through various projects such as the improvement of our road infrastructure networks, amongst these being: The Rehabilitation and upgrading to dual carriageway of the Windhoek -Okahandja Road in the Khomas Region; upgrading to a dual carriageway of the Windhoek - Hosea Kutako Airport road in the Khomas Region and upgrading to bitumen standard of the Swakopmund - Henties Bay Kamanjab road in the Erongo and Kunene Regions. In the independent Namibia, Govern-

ment has ensured that no region, city, town or village is cut-off from our national road network. We will continue renovating, upgrading, maintaining and expanding critical sections of the transport network with a view to ensuring safe and convenient travelling; stimulating economic activities, and facilitating movement of goods and services within Namibia and across our borders. Fellow Namibians, the successes that I have highlighted are indicative of the fact that Namibia has undergone a tremendous transformation over the past 29 years. The Namibia of 2019 is a far cry from the Namibia of 1990. This, coupled with our hard-won freedom, is an achievement worthy of celebration. To the very few who are saying that “There is nothing to celebrate, I say, yes there is a lot to celebrate! This progress has buttressed our efforts to create a united, peaceful and prosperous society. We have done well but we are aware that more needs to be done. We must continue to work hard to ensure that we deliver expected goods and services to the people. As we revel in the celebration of our freedom and independence, the fact that some of our citizens are bearing the heaviest brunt of the economic slowdown is not lost on government. We are aware that some of our workers have lost jobs and thus their incomes and are suffering and facing uncertainty. Yes, we are aware of that. Let me assure you that you are not alone, we understand your dilemma, we empathize with your predicament and we are working around the clock to ensure that we restore economic growth and job creation. Equally, the sustained drought conditions have economically weakened most of our farmers, who have either lost large numbers of cattle or will not have a harvest this year. Within the limited budgetary means, Government will continue to assist these farmers through the line Ministry. It has been said that the most challenging times bring us the most empowering lessons, and in the year of our 29th anniversary of independence, one important lesson that our current challenges have taught us, is the need to be accountable for our actions. By

being accountable for our actions, we can build a stronger Namibia, a more vibrant Namibia and more prosperous Namibia. We should therefore remain united in purpose, committed to the common good of our people and dedicated to the building of a prosperous and equitable society. I stand before you with confidence and an unwavering belief that we are a nation capable of overcoming the most daunting of challenges, we are a nation capable of achieving the greatest ambition and we are a nation that will stand the test of time and mature into a society characterised by economic progress and shared prosperity. Now, more than ever, we must understand that together in vision, together in purpose and together in commitment, we will sustain our national development and continue on the path towards our economic independence. I am therefore confident, that we can continue progressing politically, economically and socially, if we all work as One Namibia, One Nation, by pulling together in the same direction in the spirit of Harambee and putting the love of our country first. Every generation has an obligation to serve with conviction and unity. Let our young people be spurred by the giants of our revolution and build on their legacy; exploring and promoting ideas that are both radical and sustainable. 29 years ago, we witnessed the end of the nightmare of Apartheid. For the first time our people could dream of a better life. A life free from the shackles of racism and discrimination, a life where one can pursue education, a life where one can maintain good health, a life where all Namibians can share in the beauty and wealth which God has bestowed on this blessed land. 29 years later, let us come together and hold hands to ensure that every Namibian is able to realise the dreams fought for, by those whose blood waters our freedom. Happy 29th birthday Namibia! May you all have a wonderful Independence Anniversary and May God continue to bless the Republic of Namibia. I thank you”.

A fishing vessel was moved by truck down Hannah Mupetami Road in Walvis Bay earlier this week to a new home at one of the fish factories. “You don’t see vessels of this size moving down Hannah Mupetami Road every day do you?”, jokingly remarked one person. Adding thanks to the municipal traffic department and also the safety team of the transporter traffic flow was disrupted minimally.

Rugby team from S.A. puts weight behind dolphin rescue A school's rugby team from South Africa, participating at the Desert Sport Festival in Walvis Bay, has a very unique memory to take home with them. The team of Heidelberg Volkskool thought on Wednesday it was going to be an ordinary day, practising and preparing for the upcoming Desert Sport Festival rugby matches. Instead they were interrupted to go and assist the Namibia Dolphin Project with the rescue of two dolphins which got stuck in the low tide in the Walvis Bay lagoon. Thanks to the efforts of these boys, and the efforts of other volunteers too, the two dolphins were saved and they are roaming the ocean of Walvis Bay again. It is believed a tour guide and his group of tourists who were driving towards the salt pans spotted the distressed dolphins. The tourists were on their way to undertake a kayaking excursion near Pelican Point, but when they realised the dolphins needed assistance they decided instead to stop and assist saving the dolphins. The Namibia Dolphin Project was notified. In an instant assistance arrived. Dolphin Project has the necessary equipment to rescue stranded dolphins and with the assistance of the rugby team and other volunteers it was mission accomplished.

Breakdown at sea - passenger liner sails for Walvis Bay on one engine

The arrival of the passenger liner Aegean Odyssey at Walvis Bay is delayed by twenty-four hours, after the ship developed engine problems at sea, en route from Cape Town. At the time of going to press yesterday, the ship was making steady progress towards Walvis Bay on only one fully functional engine and was scheduled to dock at 06:00 today. A team of technicians already arrived by flight from Cape Town yesterday and repair the ship alongside in Walvis Bay today.

Die Elefantenmaske von Gaby Tirronen Der Himmel hier ist klar und dunkel, keine Moskitos summen, nur einzelne Sterne leuchten am angolanischen Himmel, eine Nacht kurz vor dem Vollmond. Die Imbangala sitzen um ihr Lagerfeuer. Nur noch eine Nacht…eine Nacht bevor der Mond groß und rund wird, bevor er sein Licht weit in den dichten Busch hineinleuch-

ten wird. “Morgen, wenn die Nacht hereinbricht, müssen wir den Elefanten töten.” Diese Worte werden fortlaufend gemurmelt. Der Åltestenrat hat sich versammelt. Immer wieder, immer wieder hat der große Elefantenbulle, der “Riese”, ihre Maisfelder zerstört. Und letzte Nacht...da hat der Riese Domingo getötet, diesen heldenhaften jungen Mann, der vorgesprungen war und den brennenden Stock auf den Riesen geworfen hatte. Der Medizinmann rief die Ahnen zu Hilfe; in dieser Nacht hat er mit den Vorfahren gespro-

chen und die haben klar und deutlich gesagt, er solle die Jagdahnen anrufen. Jetzt versetzt er sich in Trance, tiefer und tiefer, und er spricht mit den großen Jägern der ewigen Jagdgründe und sie erzählen ihm ganz genau, wer den Speer tief in das Herz des Riesen werfen solle, ganz tief, sodass er sofort zusammenbrechen und tot sein wird, bevor er die Erde küsst. Es soll Domingos Bruder sein, der mutige Jäger mit dem Namen

Muhongo. Er kniet sich vor den Zauberer und der Medizinmann erklärt ihm ganz genau, so wie es ihm die Jagdahnen geschildert haben und wie er, der große Jäger der Imbangala, es tun soll, wie er den Speer halten soll. Dann greift

der Medizinmann hinter sich und holt die Elefantenmaske hervor. Er stülpt sie über den Kopf Muhongos, zieht sie ganz nach vorn über die Stirn. Das angenähte Gras, die Leder-

stückchen und Perlen, die an der Maske kleben, verbergen Muhongos Nacken, sein Gesicht: Muhongo sieht genauso aus wie ein Elefant. Der Zauberer nimmt Muhongos zitternde Hand und führt sie zu dem Rüssel der Maske. Dieser ist leicht gebogen und passt genau in die Handfläche Muhongos. Jetzt springen alle Jäger der Imbangalas auf und scheuchen Muhongo um das Feuer. Sie feuern ihn an, singen und stamp-

fen und rufen ihm Jägersprüche zu. Von hinten fallen die Frauen mit ihren schrillen Stimmen ein. Sie kreischen, wehklagen und lassen ihre Stimmbänder klirren, um Muhongo in Stimmung zu bringen. Er, der große Jäger der Imbangala, wird heute den Tod seines Bruders rächen. So in etwa wäre die Szene, in der eine Elefantenmaske gebraucht wird. Sollte die Jagd erfolgreich sein, wird die gleiche Szene noch einmal gefeiert, und zwar, um den Ahnen der Jäger für ihren guten Rat - aber auch den Göttern zu danken, dass sie Muhongo Glück gebracht haben. Es gibt ähnliche Mas-

ken für eine Jagd auf Nashörner, zum Beispiel die der Mbundu, die mit einer Antilopenmaske arbeiten und die Jäger der Ewigkeit um Jagdglück bitten, damit sie ihre Fleischtöpfe füllen können. Diese und mehr Masken gibt es bei Peters Antiques in Swakopmund zu sehen. Ludwig Haller, der Besitzer, kann viele Geschichten dazu erzählen. Diese Masken sind Originale, nicht etwa für den Touristen produziert, sondern von ausgesuchten Holzschnitzern mit Liebe, Können und Respekt für die Jagd geschnitzt. In der Elefantenmaske sind die Augen so perfekt, genau wie die eines Elefanten: sanft, klug und voller Falten. Sie sprechen dich an, genau so, wie ein weiser alter Elefant zu dir sprechen würde. Die Patina zeigt, dass diese Maske schon viel benutzt worden ist. Ob sie Glück gebracht hat? Ach, wenn sie nur selbst erzählen könnte! Aber würden wir dann auch die Imbangala verstehen ? Ein Dankeschön geht an Ludwig Haller von Peters Antiques in Swakopmund und an Jela Grosse Weischede, die in Angola geboren wurde und aufgewachsen ist .

Auch war er im Swakopmunder Männergesangsverein aktiv. Er kam als Vertreter der Hamburger Ingen i e u r s f i r m a “ F. H . Schmidt” nach Swakopmund. Diese Firma hatte sich erhofft, die Ausschreibung zur Konstruktion einer Stahl-Jetty für die Ha-

fenstadt Swakopmund zu erhalten. Sie ging jedoch an die Firma “Grün & Bilfinger". Kramer war vorher für F.H. Schmidt in der Deutschen Kolonie Tsingtao/Qingdao in der Kiautschou Bay in China tätig gewesen, wo er an der ShantungEisenbahnlinie arbeitete und auch etliche Brücken baute. Er war voraussichtlich von 1904 bis 1908 in China beschäftigt. Quelle: Swakop Tour Company Es sei noch zusätzlich zu Fritz Kramer zu erwähnen, dass er südlich von Goanikontes ein Stück Land am Swakoprivier kaufte, etwa 40 Kilometer von der Küste entfernt. Wegen der weißen Krusten im Sand, die beim Versickern von Brackwasser entstanden, vermutete er einen hohen Salzgehalt im Boden. Also baute er neben seiner beruflichen Tätigkeit als Ingenieur eine kleine Salzgewinnungsanlage auf. Allerdings mit wenig Erfolg. Die Überreste dieser Anlage sind heute noch zu sehen. Und dann ist natürlich der Stadtteil Kramersdorf nach ihm benannt.

Peinliche und peinigende Peitsche Liebe Küstenleser! In einer feierlichen Zeremonie vor etwa 3000 festlich gekleideten Gästen in Gibeon überreichte die Ministerin für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kunst Baden-Württemberg, Theresia Bauer, Präsident Hage Geingob die Bibel und Peitsche des Nama-Häuptlings Hendrik Witbooi. Vor 126 Jahren sind diese beiden Gegenstände beim Angriff der Deutschen Schutztruppe mit OvahereroVerbündeten auf den Witbooi-Kraal Hoornkrans am Gamsberg von einem Schutztruppler mitgenommen worden. Neun Jahre später wurden sie dem Linden-Museum in Stuttgart geschenkt. Ich denke, diese Geste war eine gute Sache, denn wer weiß, ob das Neue Testament in der seltenen Khoekkhoegowab-Sprache heute noch existieren würde, wenn es damals nicht in Verwahrung gegeben worden wäre. Was den Sjambok anbetrifft, habe ich so meine Bedenken, ob dieses Objekt dieselbe Verehrung und Pietät verdient, die ihm zur Zeit zuteil wird. Komm ich sach mal so. Die Witbooi-Namas, allen voran ihr Kaptein Hendrik, waren wahrhaftig nicht nur arme, beraubte Unschuldslämmer, wie sie heute dargestellt werden. NAKU 2019 National Trials held

The Namibia Karate Union (NAKU) hosted its national trials to select a team that will represent Namibia at major tournaments this year. The event was held at the Dome, Swakopmund. Itwas conducted on a closed basis with the main focus on selecting athletes to represent Namibia at numerous international events throughout 2019. The trials not only highlighted Namibia's greatest karate talents, but also served as a basis for the selection of a larger squad, with the purpose of developing the sport in Namibia. This year's trials featured over 137 athletes from northern, central and coastal regions. All nine affiliated styles (Goju Kai Namibia, Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karate Na-

mibia, Karate Zen, Namibia JKA, Shotokan Karate Academy International, Tenshinkan, Bushido Shotokan, Kushido, and the Namibia Kyukoshin Karate Organization) were represented at the trials. The tournament also featured many of Namibia's top international karateka including: Suzelle Pronk (2018 Commonwealth bronze medalist and the first Namibian to participate at a K1 Premier League Tournament, captain of the 2018 national karate team); Mayvonne Swart (bronze medalist at the 2018 African Youth Games and double medalist (silver and

bronze) at the 2018 African Junior Karate Championships); Freddy Mwiya Jr (bronze medalist at the 2018 African Junior Karate Championships and double medalist (gold and bronze) at the 2018 Commonwealth Karate Championships; and Michelle Tjimuku (bronze medalist at the 2018 African Junior Karate Championships and member of the 2018 African Youth Games team). During the trials, the athletes' performances were assessed by a selection panel consisting of senior instructors from the various different styles as well as the national coach, Llewellyn Manale. Athletes were scored along various different criteria

throughout the day and previous years' performances were also taken into account by the selection panel. The panel will decide on two or three athletes per division to make up the national squad, which is due to be announced within the upcoming week. The first major tournament for the team will be the 2019 AUSC Region 5 Karate Championships, which NAKU will be hosting between 23 and 25 of May at the Dome in Swakopmund. Coach Llewellyn Manale and his team aim to improve on last year's performance at Region 5 (3rd overall of 7 Countries present); placing Namibian Karate as the

dominant force in Southern Africa. Other than Region 5, NAKU also hopes for a strong performance at this year's A f r i c a K a r a t e Championships which is to be held in Gaborone, Botswana, from 12 to 14 July. The primary challenge faced by NAKU is financing its athletes and tournaments. NAKU currently receives no additional financing from the Namibia Sports Commission (NSC) and is only sponsored by Paratus Telecom with regards to the hosting of its website and email. Other than financing its national tournament (budgeted at N$50 000) which is to be held in September, NAKU also faces N$50 000 per year in annual affiliation fees and has set aside a budget of N$100 000 for this year's Region 5 Championships. NAKU hopes that with the help of sponsors, it can allow more athletes to participate in international tournaments; and also hopes to be able to implement a National Karate League which will allow for more participation opportunities and better tracking of athlete performance year round. V-Power Swakop Rally done and dusted

Allan Martin and co-driver Maretha Olivier in their J&P Hydraulics VW Polo S2000 4x4 Rudi Bowe Last Saturday saw the 7th Swakopmund Rally and round 2 of the Namibian Rally Championship that took place in and around the coastal town. With ten teams in the sedan class and six in the off road class the Swakop rally was a huge success with Jaco Redelinghuys and co-driver Dries Booysen in their Gobabis Toyota Yaris S2000 4x4. They came out on top in the S3-class as well as the overall spot in the 201.74 kilometers with a time of 1 hour 7 minute 12 seconds. For Allan Martin and co-driver Maretha Olivier in their J&P Hydraulics VW Polo S2000 4x4 the day started out with gremlins that would see the team lose huge amounts of time as the Polo started to give clutch problems but Allan nursed the Polo with a slipping clutch and with some luck on his side and absolute crazy driving he pushed the limits and at stage 5 driving on 2 wheels he still managed to take 2nd position overall in and won the S4-class in a time of 1:07:31. Marco Luis and co-driver Jannie Coetzee in their STI Subaru Impreza Turbo 4x4 ended third in S4-Class with a time of 1:31:28. Jan Everson and co-driver Fanie Botes in with their Seal Consulting Engineers S2-klas VW Polo 4x2 had to retire at the end of stage 5 with engine problem. For the young Zachary Martin with Michael Strydom as co-driver the rally started with a led foot as he pushed his little S1600 Golf MK1 as hard as he could but at the midway point with a healthy lead in class S1 the engine of the Golf had cried enough and sadly the team came to a standstill in a cloud of smoke losing all hopes of a 2nd win in a row after their win in round 1 in Gobabis. The only all women's team, Welmie Kühn and and co-driver René van Wyk with their Kühn Paneelkloppers 1.6i Toyota RunX 4x2 finished the rally in S1-class. Welmie said after the rally that she enjoyed it. For her it is really fun to race and that it is not only men that can do this sport. If everything goes well she will finish all the rallies. The Off Road class winners: Class A: 1.Labuschagne brothers Class C: The winners are Bartch/Fouriein their Safewear4x2 Ford Courier and second place was Coetzee/ Howard in Mitsubishi Pajaro V6 4x2. Class D: 1. Kruger/Louw. Class E: 1. Breed/Louw. The Off Road division was won by Breed/Louw in a time of 1:14:01 second was the Labuschagne brothers in a time of 1:22:18, third was Kruger/Louw in 1:29:41 Wido Bartch/Patrick Fourie in 1:30:12 and Gert Coetzee/Ciske Howard in 1:55:31 was fourth fifth respectively. Next up is the Tsumeb rally on 18 May, which might possibly see Allan Martin retiring his trusted Polo and get behind his exiting new rally car. Brave Warriors a draw away from an unpredicted feat The Brave Warriors set eyes on making it to the consecutive continental finals when they travel to Zambia on Thursday to take on Chipolopolo in the African Cup of Nations Qualifier on Saturday at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka. The Brave Warriors will have to avoid defeat in Zambia on Saturday to all but secure a berth at the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) Finals in Egypt from 21 June to 19 July. The match on Saturday will be live on pay television DsTV on Channel 229 (SuperSport 9) from 18h15 with kickoff set for 18h30 at the National Heroes Stadium Satdium. Guinea Bissau and Namibia are top of Group K on eight points each with Mozambique in third place on seven points. Zambia on four points are out of the race to Egypt 2019. The group winner and the runner-up will qualify for the 32nd edition of the Total African Cup of Nations.
