The long-awaited shipment of wind turbine components has arrived in Lüderitz, marking a major milestone in the town's push towards renewable energy. The first three massive blades have already been transported through town, with more components set to follow.

Public Urged to Respect State Motorcades During Funeral Arrangements for Dr Sam Nujoma Eileen van der Schyff
The Namibian Police Force has urged the public to prioritise road safety and respect state motorcades during the upcoming memorial services and funeral procession of the late Founding President, Dr Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma. President Nangolo Mbumba has declared 1 March 2025, as the burial date for Dr Nujoma, with memorial services scheduled in seven regions from 20 to 28
February. During this period, the late President's remains will be transported between towns, accompanied by dignitaries and key officials, leading to an expected increase in
traffic on national roads. In a media statement, Inspector-General of the Namibian Police, Lieutenant General J.S. Shikongo, called on all road users to cooperate and adhere
to traffic regulations to ensure the smooth movement of the official convoys. Motorists, pedestrians, and the general public are urged to: Follow the instructions of traffic officers managing the convoy movements; Give way to state motorcades and allow for uninterrupted traffic flow; Refrain from overtaking or cutting into a motor-
cade, as this poses serious safety risks; Avoid touching the hearse during the funeral procession, as this could endanger lives. With temporary road closures and diversions expected, authorities advise patience, careful planning, and the use of alternative routes where necessary. Additional personnel will be deploy-
ed to ensure order and safety throughout the processions. “I thank the public in advance for their cooperation in making these processions safe and successful,” Lt-Gen. Shikongo stated. Namibians are encouraged to play their part in ensuring a dignified and orderly farewell for their late leader.
