800 bicycles bound for Debt Amnesty Announced: Walvis Bay rate port of Walvis Bay Eileen van der Schyff A 40-foot shipping container stacked with 800 bicycles is bound for Walvis Bay. The bicycles will be donated to Namibians who don't have the luxury of transport, often having to walk long distances to schools, to fetch water or going to work on foot. The bicycles are the result of hard work and fundraising by students of Porter Gaud middle-school in Charleston South Carolina, in the United States of America, where a Bikes For Humanity Project is run under the leadership of the school's dean, Chris Tate. One of the super stars of the Project is eighth grader Sarah Quinn who on her own managed to collect 700 bicycles on her own

this time around. Fundraising is crucial because it costs roughly 10,000 US Dollars to purchase a container and cover the shipping costs. In addition shipping cost just in 2018 went up by 60 % Whilst many people take bicycles for granted, Tate explained in a media release a bicycle is life-changing for millions of people. The container laden with bicycles of all shapes and sizes made its way to the Charles-

ton Port yesterday and are expected to arrive in the Port of Walvis Bay by the end of January. The ship-ping container will be staying in Namibia and transformed into a community bike shop. Bicycles for Humanity Charleston is a global grassroots movement. They collect used bicycles and ship them to African communities in need. Floris Steenkamp Rate payers and debtors owing the municipality of Walvis Bay money in arrears have a chance now to start 2019 with a clean slate. An amnesty to have interest on arrears cancelled and for the capital debt to be settled has been declared and is applicable retrospectively since 1 December. The amnesty period expires on 30 April 2019. The municipality of Walvis Bay confirmed the amnesty earlier this week, following a recommendation passed in this regard by Council on Tuesday, during its last council meeting for the year. “Very often our customers struggle to pay their municipal debts for various reasons. These unproductive debts accumulate huge amounts of interest and the situation spirals out of control for many customers. At the end, Council's debt book is inflated with debts that have a very minimal chance of collection. Interest on outstanding amounts is one of the main contributing factors to this debt”, reads the agenda of Tuesday's meeting. Council further states that in order to assist customers, the amnesty period is declared. In fact, this is the fourth amnesty period since 2014, according to statistics provided in the agenda. During the first three periods a total of N$2 465 034-90 in interest was written off and the capital debts settled.

Seaflower Pelagic Processing takes huge pride in its two fishing trawler vessels Nordervon and Steinsund. Both vessels use refrigerated sea water to keep fish chilled at sea. The vessels have a capacity each to deliver 1,800 tons of fish per week, although half that tonnages will be landed to ensure high-quality fish. Nordervon is unique in that it is a combination trawling and purse seiner vessel. The vessel can therefore be used for both trawling and the catching of pelagic species like pilchard. Namibia currently has no annual pilchard quota, but once re-instated the vessel can be deployed as a pelagic vessel within a short period of time. Steinsund (pictured above) arrived in Namibia from Norway on Wednesday.

Truck ablaze on the B2 Isaac Chikosi A delivery truck caught fire yesterday at around 05:00 on the B2 about 20 km from Usakos towards Arandis. According to police reports the right front tyre had a blowout. The driver struggled for about 300 metres to get the truck to a standstill, and in the process a fire started onboard. Metal friction is believed to have caused the fire. The truck was completely destroyed in the blaze.

Namib Times was given an exclusive preview of Seaflower Pelagic Processing's processing plant recently. Without doubt this 14 000 square meters facility sets a new pace, both in Namibia and the other fishing industries on the west coast of Africa. Contractors and staff of the company are working around the clock to complete the freezing plant by mid-January. The freezing plant is one of three production units at Seaflower Pelagic Processing. The other production units are a fishmeal plant where off-cuts and broken fish will be produced into fishmeal and a cannery which comes into operation by mid-2019. At this cannery the company plans to produce canned fish under its own label: ”Princess Brand”. The freezing plant employs 420 people. Most of the appointments have been finalised and everyone is ready for the plant's start-up”, ex-

plained media spokesperson of Seaflower Pelagic Processing, Ratonda Katjivikua, last Friday during the newspaper's visit. Adding the company's two fishing vessels employ 22 seagoing personnel in total, the cannery will employ 200 people and the fishmeal plant 12 people. Therefore employing approximately seven times more Namibians per ton fish processed compar-ed to sea frozen factory trawlers. Contrary to the perception that Seaflower Pelagic Processors is foreign-owned, Katjivikua explained quite the opposite. The company is 40 % owned by Fishcor and the remaining 60 % is owned by African Selection Fishing Namibia which is turn is 95 % Namibian-owned and 5 % foreign owned. “Fishcor brought a 50 000 tons horse mackerel quota to the table. Our processing facility has a capacity of more than double this 50 000 tons. We explore opportunities to form joint ventures with other quota holders. These joint ventures stand to benefit

all parties involved and holds the prospects to create more employment opportunities for Seaflower Pelagic Processors”, further explained Adolf Burger, the General Manager. Seaflower Pelagic Processors also shifted the benchmark when it comes to the finer details of employment creation. Apart from a strong gender balance (70 % women and 30 % men) and 90 % youth, the company went into detailed efforts to employ people from marginalised communities, disabled persons and youth. In this respect positions were reserved for three males and nine females from the Ovahimba communities and ten positions for people from the San communities. The company identified men from the San communities already employed at Walvis Bay and invited their spouses living in the traditional areas to apply for positions at Seaflower. In this way these families can be reunited. (Also see report on page 3).

Tate went on to say, “The last shipment we sent went to kids that had to walk 12 kilometres or more to school,”. Sarah Quinn had the following to say: “I just came into this as a little sixth, seventh grader and it's really grown. I knew my community was generous,” Quinn said. “When I started, I had a goal of 20 bikes and it kept going and going. That is incredible, it's the greatest Christmas present ever. It's the most wonderful time of the year.” She said the hard work is worth the reward, especially when they see how it's received. “This is amazing, but the best part is when we get emails with pictures of the people and you see the kids when they're jumping up and down with their helmets and their bikes and they're learning to ride,” she said. Another star of the project is Juliette Lovell who has been part of the program since fifth grade. She's now a college-bound senior dedicated to service. “It just reminds you that service, it doesn't take a lot of time, it can be quick, and it can be really meaningful and change lives,” Lovell said.

Namib Times' Floris Steenkamp spent a most enjoyable few hours at Seaflower Pelagic Processing recently, where he was briefed on the mechanisms and processes by a team of highly skilled individuals whom were all head hunted for the new venture: they are Naomi Gaven (HR Manager); Ratonda Katjivikua (HR & CSR Director); Esmeralda van Reenen (Finance Manager); Rinus van der Westhuizen (Fleet/Technical manager); Pierre Le Roux (Operations Manager); Adolf Burger (General Manager) and Fabian Haufiku (Quality Manager).

Seaflower Pelagic Processing’s freezing plant is the biggest of its kind on the west coast of Africa with a 600 metric tons holding capacity at any given time. Such a massive freezing plant requires an equally powerful refrigeration plant (pictured above). In fact, it required 12 tons of ammonia to complete the refrigeration plant and represents the biggest single customer delivery of ammonia in Namibia's history.

The fishmeal plant works on a steam-dried system and has the capacity to handle 300 metric tons of raw fish (70 tons dry) off-cuts and broken fish per day. All raw fish materials are stored in a sealed area before the production stage, preventing any forms of odours forming or serving as a breeding area for flies. The plant uses chemical scrubbers to minimise any form of harmful emissions.

The cannery will commence with the canning of horse mackerel by mid-2019. The daily processing capacity will be 120 tons raw fish per day which equates to approximately 187,200 cans of fish. Sea Flower Pelagic Processing can also can and process fish from affiliated fishing ventures in Angola, South Africa and Mozambique. The brand’s name is “Princess Brand”.

Where are tomorrow’s net-menders?

Namib Times recently encountered a small group of people mending nets at the new fish factory of Seaflower Pelagic Processing. Meticulously every tear or hole in the nets are repaired, a process that requires skill, patience and many days of exposure to the elements. “This is a profession still practised by the older generation of people, the descendants of the pioneer fishermen of Walvis Bay”, explained one. “There are very little young people who takes up this profession and net-menders are really a dying breed”, explained the other. To the fishing industry net-makers will always full-fill a very important role. Fishing gear, including fishing nets, are very expensive. That is for both the repair and replacement of nets. It goes without saying therefore that net-makers will always be in demand and could be an option for young people who want to work with their hands.

Truck operators complain A truck operator says the traffic authorities should warn truck drivers in time that they cannot use the B2 coastal road on account of the holiday season. Many truck drivers are well underway towards Swakopmund from Walvis Bay when they are informed all truck traffic is diverted to the MR44 behind the dunes. In this instance yesterday this truck got stuck with its trailer dangerously across the B2 in attempt to make a U-turn and return to Walvis Bay, as the driver learnt he would not be allowed to proceed once at the road block near the Dolphin Bay police station at Dolphin Park. TRANSNAMIB'S Road-to-rail Strategy Taking Momentum As part of our Strategy to move more freight onto rail, TransNamib is developing various projects to achieve our objective. During the past few months, we have been working with Ohorongo Cement on how to reduce the number of truck loads between Sargberg and the Northern regions of the country. This partnership has yielded positive results as we were able to take more than 5,000 truck loads of the road between Otavi and Ondangwa. Cement is now moved from Sargberg to Ondangwa Station where it is distributed to the local areas such as Ondangwa, Oshakati, Ongwediva, Oshikango and other surrounding areas.

This specific route is one of the busiest roads countrywide and this reduction of volumes enroute is definitely contributing a safer road and journey for passenger vehicles. We believe that partnerships such as this with our clients will continue to assist TransNamib to grow freight volumes by rail, but also make our national roads much safer. The concept of servicing the local surrounding areas through our stations such as Ondangwa is a concept that we are developing to service our customers better.

The Minister of the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Honorable Bernhardt Esau were the guest at a Christmas lunch in honor of the women of the Fishermen Widows Trust that was arranged by Fishcor in Walvis Bay as part of their social responsibility. The minister said that he feel honored to have lunch with the women. He informed the women that the ongoing irregularities between Ehika Fishing and the Fishermen Widows Trust will soon be finalised. They were also particularly excited about the new “Protech Namibia Panic Button App” they are introducing to the market. ProTech Security prides itself as a market leader in a wide range of service which include: alarm installations and maintenance, CCtv, access control, alarm monitoring and response, electric fencing, intercoms, DStv installations, guarding services and gate- and garage motors. The App only uses your cell phone's GPS and data once it is open and being used. In the event of an emergency, pre-programmed emergency contacts receive notifications by SMS with your location at the time the app was activated. The App is activated with just one press. The person who activated the app can also be tracked remotely in real-time in the event he or she cannot talk or is on the move. Notifications of crimes or suspicious activities near you can also be sent to you via the App and keeps you informed and alert. Similarly, the App user can easily report crimes and suspicious activities on the App and notify people in your community. A map allows the user to view crime locations and crime hot spots. The App also allows a user to be tracked by ProTech Security in the person is going into an area or situation they feel nervous about. The App also has a recording function that activates by one touch. This device can for instance assist recording a person soliciting a bribe or in the event of verbal confrontations. A selfie function allows you to instantly upload a picture of you, in order to be easily identified once the emergency contact person or persons locates and reaches you. Frequently asked questions by users already using the App are answered: 1. Why does the App require all these permissions? Some App users are concerned about the number of permissions required. It is especially obvious in Android 6 (Marshmallow). In general, the App only uses additional permissions when the user initiates specific activities where these are required. 2. Contacts: emergency contacts can be selected from your phone's contact list. 3. Location: when the activate the panic button or the “Follow Me” the app can notify your emergency contacts or Protech Security (if you partner with us) of your location. 4. SMS: when you press the panic button it will send and SMS to your emergency contacts showing your location. It will also SMS the contact when the alert is cancelled. 5. Phone: this function on the App makes it possible to make a call to your emergency contact when you press the; button. 6. Photos/Media/Files: it allows you to add photos of yourself (at registration) or a crime (when adding an alert). The App does not perform this function in the background. You must initiate it. 7. Microphone: to record audio when you press the “Record Audio” button only. 8. Data: The App uses data when you press the panic button or follow me button. Data is also used during the registration, adding crime alerts, to use the map and online shop. 9. Identity: Google Play requires that to know who downloaded the App and so users can access across devices. 10. Device ID and call info: so, we can synchronise your app details if, for example, you delete the App and re-install it.

ACC Ero 14-001416- Alleged Corrupt Practices At Henties Bay Municipality The Commission on 22 December 2014 received a complaint in respect of an invoice of N$ 788,995.96 that was presented to the Henties Bay Municipality for construction work of the Fire Station, whilst such work was not performed. The matter was investigated and forwarded to the Office of the Prosecutor General on 5 May 2015. On 16 September 2015 the Prosecutor-General took a decision and subsequently three persons were arraigned in the Magistrates Court Swakopmund.

The case against two of the accused were withdrawn and Mr Willem Matthias Thomas was subsequently convicted on 24 September on a charge of contravening section 35 (3) (a) of the Anti-Corruption Act (knowingly gives a docu-ment to an agent which contains falsifications in order to mislead). He was subsequently sentenced to imprisonment of two (2) years, which was wholly and conditionally suspended for a period of five years as well as a fine of N$ 20,000.00or 3-years imprisonment (in case of failure to pay such fine).

Willem Matthias Thomas ACC HQO 18-002840- ARREST OF EMPLOYEE OF CITY OF WINDHOEK The Commission on Friday the 14th of December 2018 arrested an employee of the City of Windhoek, Electricity Department in a sting operation on corruption charges. The arrest relates to Mr Selwyn Neville Mouton, 42 years of age, a Revenue Protection Officer, who allegedly solicited a gratification of N$5 000 from an electricity subscriber of the COW in order not to disconnect the subscriber's electricity due to arrears. He was subsequently arrested on Friday by Authorised Officials of the Commission after a sting operation was conducted and appeared in the Magistrates Court, Windhoek on 17 December. Walvis Bay STEM Fair for Girls made headlines once again The Walvis Bay Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Fair for Girls has made headlines as seventeen of their learners was part of hundreds of learners from across Southern Africa, who took part in the South Africa Youth Engineering and Science Symposium(SAYESS) from 5 -7 December at the University of Pretoria's High Performance Centre in Pretoria. It was the first time in their 6 months of existence, that Walvis Bay STEM Fair has sent learners to an event of this magnitude. The 14 girls and 3 boys who participated in SAYESS are learners from Flamingo Primary School, Flamingo Secondary School and de Duine Secondary School. The founder of the STEM fair, Anastacia de Klerk said “I would never have imagined that this project would be such a huge success. The learners went on fieldtrips to the University of Pretoria's Science Centre, the chemistry centre to make their own ice cream, the zoology faculty to research different animals and to touch spiders. They also visited the mining faculty to go on a 3D tour and had lectures each night which included a scientist who worked on Marion Island, an astronaut from NASA and the chemistry Nobel prize winner, Sir James Fraser Stoddart. Some of the learners even got a chance to see how money is made at South Africa Mint”. Anastacia added that six of the learners were interviewed for Teenagers on a Mission

(TOMZ), which is a YOUTUBE show, and that the SABC studios in Johannesburg invited Selma Kalimbo and Raina Samuel for a T.V. interview about their projects early next year. Sherrylin Auchas a Grade 6 learner said “This trip was definitely the best because I have learnt so much in the short time and winning the bronze award motivated me more to continually compete in science fair and this taught me a lot about my fellow students and teachers and it was a great experience”. Selma Kalimbo a Grade 9 learner said “It was very interesting, I learned a lot seen so much and it was an amazing experience to participate in. I am very thankful for this great opportunity. I hope to participate again”. Josephina Mbago a grade 7 said “The trip was amasing I really enjoyed it and it taught me a lot of things I am grateful to everyone who made this trip successful for us and for ms Dee I actually never knew I would be out of the country at such a young age but because of u I got the chance I appreciate u very much and I met new people and saw amasing

places”. Helena Nauyoma a grade 6 said “For me the trip was really great and I had loads of fun and I got to know new people, see beautiful places and we worked together in harmony and the best thing is that everyone did their best and actually got something out of their hard work and I am looking forward for the future and thank u Ms Dee for everything and I hope whatever u do in life will be successful”. Omagano Muzanima a grade 7 said “This trip was absolutely amazing. We learned things that we never even thought existed and learned to challenge ourselves. I personally really loved this educative trip I look forward to more of them”. Eric- Lesley Swartz a grade 5 learner said “My experience of the trip to Pretoria was informative. I gained a lot of experience to participate in the science competition especially the topic about insects and the experiment whereby we made ice cream out of liquid Nitrogen. Anastacia said that the Walvis Bay STEM Fair for Girls is planning STEM activities across the country which includes the National Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fair for girls as well as trips to South Africa, Dubai and the USA. In March, 20 learners will participate in a Science Festival in Grahamstown South

Africa. A STEM Camp for girls is also scheduled during the April/ May holiday and in August they plan to have a science tour to South Africa. In December next year it will be time for SAYESS and they are planning to take 20 learners to participate. Anastacia said “We urge the public to support these types of projects as we are trying to expose the children to various opportunities. We've already been approached by people who want to sponsor our children with scholarships to study science. Swakopmund Municipality Food Hygiene & Safety Competition winners

The Municipality of Swakopmund, Health Department held its first ever FOOD HYGIENE AND SAFETY COMPETITION 2018. The aim of the competition is to encourage and recognize all food preparation premises and establishments that have maintained safe food preparation practices and hygienic standards in order to prevent food borne illnesses. The categories for this competition were Bistros/Coffee Shops, Restaurants, Takeaways, Hotels, Mobile kiosks/trailers, Bakeries, Butcheries, frozen pre-packed/fish and General food establishments. The evaluations of the premises of the various competitors took place on 19 November and ended on 21 November 2018. The first, second and third place winners were announced and the prize giving ceremony took place on 23 November 2018 at the Municipal Council Chambers. Sie hängen an Dachrinnen, sitzen auf Dächern, Felsen oder im Schaufenster: die Weihnachtsmänner! Wo aber kommt der Nikolaus ursprünglich her? Santa Claus basiert auf dem heiligen St. Nikolaus, der im 4. Jahrhundert im Ge-

biet der heutigen Türkei lebte. Er war für seine Grosszügigkeit gegenüber Kindern und Armen bekannt. Am Todestag von St. Nikolaus, dem 6. Dezember, wird er weltweit am “SamichlausTag” (Schweiz) oder am “Sinterklaas” (Holand) gefeiert. Im 17. Jahrhundert brachten Niederländische Auswanderer ihren Sinterklaas-Brauch nach Nieuw Amsterdam (heute New York). Aus

Sinterklaas wurde im Laufe der Zeit der amerikanische Santa Claus. Er tragt ein blau-weißes Kostüm, was für Frost und Kälte steht. An seiner Seite ist immer ein kleines Mädchen, die Enkelin des Ded Moros, die Snegurotschka (”Schneeflöckchen”) genannt wird. Advent wollte das Team der Antonius-Residenz seinen “Altchen” außer leckerem Gebäck und aromatischem Kaffee etwas Besonderes anbieten. Die Chefin der Seniorenresidenz, Petro Rabe, und Schwester Ruth Schubert luden somit Christopher Ströbl vom Funkhaus Namibia ein. Der Radioansager und sein Hahn Pavarotti sind aus der

Sendung “Die Frühaufsteher” bekannt. Herr Ströbl las einige Weihnachtsgeschichten vor und jonglierte das ältere Semester der Swakopmunder Einwohner mit gezielten Fragen in die Vergangenheit hinein. Dabei traten allerhand lustige Kommentare seitens der Senioren zutage: “Ich hab’ Sie mir ganz anders vorgestellt”, meinte eine Dame in der Pflegestation ganz ungeniert. “Irgendwie dicker und jünger”. Und dann wurde auf

Locker vom Hocker Ein Wunsch zu Weihnachten

Liebe Küstenleser! Nun steht Weihnachten beinahe vor der Tür. Noch vor einer guten Woche war in meinem Garten und Haus keine Spur von Festlichkeit zu sehen: kein sich auf dem Dach räkelnder Mann mit roter Mütze und für diese Jahreszeit viel zu warmem roten Mantel; keine Lichterkette im Wilden Feigenbaum; keine Krippe mit den Heiligen Drei Königen vor dem kalten Kamin, die den Duft von Weihrauch verbreiten. Das hat sich inzwischen allerdings geändert, und endlich ist auch im Hause Kinghorn der warme Kerzenschimmer der Adventszeit eingekehrt.

Begriff “pflegen” hier eigentlich ganz und gar nicht passt!. In diesem Falle geht es um die Plakate, die man in der Innenstadt aufhängt, um auf diverse Veranstaltungen aufmerksam zu machen. Wie oft hat jemand einfach ein Poster entfernt, um das seinige an dessen Stelle aufzuhängen. Oder aber die Reißzwecken des bereits angehefteten Plakates wurden herausgepuhlt und zum Eigengebrauch benutzt. Deshalb habe ich eine Schachtel Reißzwecken gekauft und zig in die Pinboards vor und in der Woermann-Arkade gesteckt, damit genug vorhanden sind, um dem Klauen vor-

hör- und spürbar, dessen verführerischem Gesang man sich beim besten Willen nicht mehr entziehen kann. Mein Violoncello wird nun erstmal zur Behausung für die Hausspinnen; das Coral Draw-Programm, das mir auf meinem PC für die Gestaltung meiner Zeitungsseiten dient, darf ganze sechs Wochen seinem Sommerschlaf frönen. Und wo werden Sie mich finden, wenn nicht hinter dem Laptop oder der Kniegei-

Halt, ich habe vergessen, dem Weihnachtsmann einen Wunschzettel zu schreiben, wie damals in meiner Kindheit. Ach was! Ist doch nicht nötig! Denn erstens bin ich kein Kind mehr und zweitens bin ich tatsächlich wunschlos zufrieden. Na ja, fast! Ich hätte da doch noch so einen klitzekleinen Vorschlag, den ich Herrn Werner Gossow unterbreiten möchte. Ich habe gerade ihn in diesem Jahr zum Weihnachtsmann mit Geschenkesack auserkoren, weil ich die Brauhaus-Arkade als äußerst attraktives Zentrum unserer “Altstadt” Swakopmund betrachte. Und da kam mir eine Idee, wie man bzw. er Swakopmund beschenken kann. Diese Idee entstand, nachdem ich mich in den letzten Jahren immer wieder darüber geärgert hatte, wie Menschen mit dem Besitz anderer umzugehen pflegen, wobei der

Nun mein Vorschlag und Wunsch an Herrn Gossow: Wäre es nicht möglich, im Zentrum der Brauhaus-Arkade irgendwo eine moderne, gläserne “Litfaßsäule” mit verschließbaren Fenstern ringsherum zu errichten? The students that are affiliated thru their clubs did the NKF and the country proud during 2018 at National and International competitions. The Federation made history as some of their students were the first Africans to compete in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Brazil where they won international titles. The NKF students participated in the following international competition; UAEJJF Pro National Championship on 3 and 4 February in South Africa th 1 Gold, 1 Bronze and two 4 places, African Continental Games from 27-29 April in Botswana - won 13 Gold, 8 Silver and 7 Bronze. Battle of Atlanta World Championship on 16 and 17 June in the USA - won st nd three1 and one 2 places. Azambuja International Jiu Jitsu Championshipson 22 June in Brazil st won two 1 places. International Gladiator Jiu-Jitsu Championships on 24 June in Brazil nd rd won one 2 and one 3 places. Destiny, 29 & 30 September in South Africa - won 6 Gold, 9 Silver and 7 Bronze madels. UAEJJF Pro National Jiu-Jitsu Championship on 1and 2 December in South Africa - won 2 Gold and two x 5places. The NFK hosted Desert Storm II their annual National Qualifier & Title Fights Championships on 28and 29 September in Walvis Bay. The National Long term development plan of the NKF is to reach out to all areas (especially rural areas) of Namibia to develop all students to the best of their abilities and to send more students to national and international competitions to expose them to scenarios regarding the sport. We would like to give each student of all the clubs the opportunity to participate in as many competitions as possible. The NKF plan to reach out to all areas of Namibia and to all races, ages and genders through development as has been done in the past. Much development has been done by the NKF in rural and all areas, especially before examinations to motivate youth and motivational speeches were done on a regular basis by members of the NKF. The NKF has a shortage of coaches as it takes approximately 5-6 years to train an instructor/coach in Kickboxing. The NKF (Namibia Kickboxing Federation) is currently registered in the Erongo (Walvis Bay and Swakopmund) and Khomas (Windhoek). We are committed to expand the sport to as many regions as possible. Three new clubs, Warrior Code MMA & Kickboxing Club, Kuyhosh in and Elite Defence Academy in Tsumeb has shown interest to register with the Federation. The number of athletes currently registered to the NKF has grown exponentially with a Gender Balance of 60% Male, 40% Female 40% and 10% with a disabilities. The aim of NKF to reach out even further in future to accommodate more students and clubs. We are having a program in place to teach Self-Defence in schools, abused woman and disabled members of the communities in the country. We at the NKF are with the rest of the member countries of WAKO very happy for the decision made by the IOC.
