Willi Probst Boulevard Café is celebrating their 65th anniversary tomorrow. Since the opening in 1957, the café has become one of Walvis Bay's iconic social meeting places known not only all over Namibia, but as far as South Africa and Europe, for its delectable baked goods, famous 'belegte Brötchen', breakfasts and wide variety of pastries. On Saturday, 20th August 2022, this last standing old German style café, bakery and restaurant will kick off the celebrations.

A truck that was overtaken by another truck sideswiped a state ambulance from Arandis after the 38-year-old ambulance driver, Martha Shali swerved out to avoid a headon collision on the B2 highway about 10km from Arandis towards Swakopmund on Wednesday night. According to the spokesperson of the Erongo police, Inspector Ileni Shapumba, the ambulance's two occupants, the driver and a nurse escaped with their lives. The 29-year-old nurse, Fidelis Uises sustained head injuries and was taken to the hospital in a stable condition. Shali and the truck driver escaped unscathed. According to a police report, the truck that caused the accident proceeded without stopping.
