Walvis Bay Gymnasium opens its doors Rudi Bowe
The Dolphin Schools at Walvis Bay on Wednesday, 11 January welcomed the management, staff, parents, and learners for the new educational year under the school's new identity, the Walvis Bay Gymnasium. Walvis Bay Gymnasium is operating at the current facilities where The Dolphin Schools is situated from where they will gradually introduce new subjects and the new curriculum into the school. The Walvis Bay Gymnasium envisions a Namibian school established by Namibian people to impact and empower Namibian learners, parents and the best-quality staff, to achieve the highest standards of educational and interpersonal excellence in the country. Curro Namibia believes in top quality academic standards with the Cambridge International Education (CIE) curriculum to be phased in from 2023. Primary school learners receive mother tongue education while phasing into English as the only medium of instruction in the secondary phase. Strydom murder case postEileen van der Schyff poned The murder case of Conraad (Coenie) Strydom (46), accused of having shot and killed his newly wed wife, Engela Strydom, who was 48-years old at the time in their Meersig home at Walvis Bay on 4 November 2021, was postponed to 23 February for further investigation on Wednesday this week. The family of the late Engela Strydom was unhappy they were not informed that there was no magistrate available at court this week, as some family members travelled far to be present at the Magistrates Court of Walvis Bay. Strydom was charged with Murder Read with the Provisions of the Domestic Violence Act, after a preliminary investigation by the police revealed strong evidence the death of Engela Strydom was not suicide as the husband claims, but rather murder. The late Engela Strydom's family grieves the loss of their beloved daughter, mother and sister and are trying to stay positive in the emotionally draining and stressful ongoing court case. History of the case so far: Strydom was granted N$10 000 bail at the Walvis Bay Magistrate's Court on 7 September 2021. Strydom must report to the Mariental Police Continues on page 2

Narib pleads not guilty Riddick Narib (29), the man who allegedly murdered his fiveyear old stepson Wilfred (Dantani) Eiseb last Friday 6 January in Walvis Bay pleads not guilty. The body of Eiseb was discovered half buried in the dunes near the 'Welcome to Walvis Bay' by a passer-by, who notified the police. Narib who showed no emotion, at his first court appearance in the Walvis Bay Magistrate's Court on Monday 9 January, faces three charges, namely murder, obstructing the course of justice and kidnapping. He was denied bail and the case was postponed to 22 March for further investigation. Continues on page 2
