Africa's Only Penguin Species on the Brink of Extinction
Marshallino Beukes 'n Een-week-oue babadogtertjie het ongedeerd daarvan afgekom nadat die voertuig waarin 13 mense gery het, die pad verlaat en omgeslaan het. Die ongeluk het Dinsdagnamiddag omstreeks 17:00 op die D1935 grondpad, ongeveer 8 km vanaf Usakos na Tubusis plaasgevind. Na bewering het die bestuurder van 'n Toyota Hilux VVTI-bakkie beheer verloor, wat veroorsaak het dat die voertuig omgeslaan het. Volgens die Erongopolisiewoord-voerder, Senior Inspekteur Judith Shomomgula, het die ander 12 insittendes, tussen 21 en 44 jaar oud, ernstige tot ligte beserings opgedoen en is na die Usakos-staatshospitaal geneem vir mediese behandeling. Drie van die beseerde insittendes is egter later na die Katutura-staatshospitaal in Windhoek oorgeplaas, terwyl die 29-jarige bestuurder in 'n stabiele maar kritieke toestand na Windhoek Medi-park oorgeplaas is, lui die polisieverslag. 'n Saak van roekelose en/of nalatige bestuur is teen die bestuurder aanhangig gemaak, en die polisie-ondersoek duur voort.

Electricity Tariff Increase Now in Effect Sports Eileen van der Schyff
Electricity users across the Erongo Region will now pay more for power following the approval of a 3.7% tariff increase for Erongo RED. The new rates, which apply to both pre-paid and post-paid users, came into effect on 1 July 2025 for post-paid customers and 4 July for pre-paid users. The increase forms part of a broader national adjustment in electricity pricing, announced by the Electricity Control Board (ECB) after reviewing tariff applications from distributors countrywide.
Earlier this year, the ECB approved a bulk electricity tariff increase for NamPower, raising the average price from N$1.9856 to N$2.0611 per kilowatt hour. To help cushion the impact, the Namibian Government contributed N$283 mil-
