Alongside teaching in the UK, I completed my MA in Education focusing on how oracy links to student attainment. Beyond the classroom, I have supported the creative arts as a stage manager for school productions and helped guide students through the AYP & (International) Duke of Edinburgh awards, because I believe learning extends far beyond exam results.

WHAT INSPIRES ME AS A TEACHER My greatest inspiration comes directly from my students. Their academic drive constantly challenges me to elevate my approach to meet them where they are. I am continuously inspired (and delighted) by their willingness to tackle rigorous material but also by their resilience when given a safe space to "fail." A LITTLE ABOUT ME I've been in Hong Kong for five years, and taught in the UK before making the move over. Before stepping into a classroom, I spent years studying Law and working in the Financial Technology sector. While a slightly unconventional route to teaching, I think that's exactly what makes me a better maths teacher. I've seen firsthand how maths quietly underpins the real world: finance, technology, decision-making, problem-solving. It's everywhere, and most people simply haven't had it shown to them the right way yet. That's what drives me. When I hear the idea that someone is "not a maths person" — in my experience, that just means they haven't yet met a version of maths that makes sense to them. My job is to find that version!

Sport is never far away either: padel, rugby, football etc - I'll talk about any of them at length if given the chance. And whenever the school holidays come around, there's nothing better than getting back to Ireland to spend time with my family.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME I've been working in education since 2001, so I bring lots of experience to NAIS HK, though I'm new to the city. Before arriving here, I spent 14 years at BISS Shanghai as a teacher of English and then as Head of Film and Media. Previously, I was part of the UK film industry and was an assistant editor on a James Bond film, as well as films like 102 Dalmatians, Troy and The Mummy Returns. After getting my teaching qualification in South London, I returned to films and worked with child actors as their tutor - I was fortunate to work on Harry Potter 5 and on the BBC TV comedy series Outnumbered (I even appear briefly in the background of one episode!).

A LITTLE ABOUT ME Hong Kong has been my home for the past nine years, where I live with my husband. I have been part of the NAISHK community since 2017, teaching Art from Reception to Year 13. Before moving to Hong Kong, I lived in Shanghai for three years. I hold a Master's in International Education from King's College London and specialised in Textiles at Falmouth University in Cornwall.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME I hold a Master’s Degree in Applied Foreign Languages (English and German, Business and Trade), a PGCE in MFL and a TESMC ESL qualification. I grew up in a bilingual household (French/ Italian) in the Southeast of France, on the French Riviera, where I developed a passion for languages and cultures. Whilst working in the U.K. as a MFL teacher (French and Spanish) in a Secondary school for thirteen years, I also worked in Primary schools (Years 1-6), and private languages centres. In addition to this, I worked in language programs at Sunderland, Newcastle and Durham Universities as a French teacher (CEFR levels and assessments) and as a MFL Visiting Lecturer. I have taught in Budapest, Bangkok and Hong Kong.
BEYOND THE CLASSROOM I am fascinated by Asia, South-East Asia in particular. I love traveling, learning languages, discovering different cultures and interacting with the locals. I also love Cantonese food, cats, music, snorkeling and snowboarding. Interesting fact: I have been an interpreter for Ian Paice (Deep Purple) at a press conference in Nice, France, and have been an interpreter for Newcastle United Football Club on a couple of occasions.

That they’re not just following instructions, but leading their own learning. I want them to feel safe enough to ask “silly” questions, try things out, and even mess up without worrying about being judged. At the same time, I want them to know there are clear boundaries and expectations which enables everyone to focus and feel respected. My goal is for them to walk in feeling empowered, and to walk out feeling more confident in their voice, their choices, and their ability to lead themselves and others. I aim to be the guide on the side, not the sage on the stage.

WHAT INSPIRES ME AS A TEACHER
I’m a Science teacher (Biology specialist!) teaching Years 7–11 this year, and this is my second year at NAISHK. Before joining, I worked at another international school in Hong Kong. I also serve as the coordinator for the Student Leadership Council and as the Secondary Social Impact Lead. Prior to teaching, I worked in clinical research with public and private organisations, focusing on oncology therapeutic treatments. I grew up in Hong Kong and attended international schools myself, so I can really relate to our students and many of their experiences.
What inspires me as a teacher isn’t just students’ successes, but recognising the journey they’ve been through to get there. I think back to my form tutor in school, who empowered me and encouraged me to take advantage of opportunities like MUN and student leadership. He helped me find my voice over time, not overnight. I’m inspired when I see a student push through selfdoubt, learn from setbacks, or slowly build the confidence to lead. For me, teaching is about honouring that process of creating a safe, but structured space where every student’s journey is seen, respected, and celebrated, not just the final results.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME Originally from a small town in the French Alps, I grew up in south-east France before moving to the UK to study at university and begin my teaching career. After 13 fulfilling years in the UK, I decided to combine my passion for teaching with my desire to explore the world. My international journey brought me first to Spain for two years, and then to Hong Kong, where I have loved living and teaching for the past four years.
BEYOND THE CLASSROOM I love staying active and discovering new places. You will often find me exploring new food spots, relaxing at the beach, or travelling to new destinations. I also enjoy challenging myself through Muay Thai and exploring life underwater whenever I go scuba diving.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME Before joining NAIS, I spent ten years working in the biopharmaceutical industry, as a research scientist, where I was involved in researching and developing new vaccines and blood plasma products, working as part of a dynamic R&D team. Throughout my career, I discovered that my favourite part of the job was mentoring. Helping colleagues and interns grow, solve problems, and build confidence in their work. That passion for guiding others eventually led me to pursue a new path - teaching. After completing my PGCE last year, I'm thrilled to bring my scientific background and love of teaching into the classroom at NAIS, where I hope to inspire the same curiosity and confidence in my students.
BEYOND THE CLASSROOM Outside of school, most of my time goes to my two kids, who are very good at keeping me busy. When I do get a bit of free time, I love going for a hike, especially between November and March when the weather cools down enough to enjoy it without melting halfway up a hill. I'm also always up for trying new restaurants, hunting down hidden spots and different cuisines around the city. When I finally get a quiet moment I like to work on some creative projects such as crocheting, knitting, or macrame.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME Originally from Fujian, China, I have spent over 15 years studying and working in Hong Kong. Before joining the international school sector, I taught in both local and international schools across Hong Kong. As a fluent speaker of both Mandarin and Cantonese, I enjoy helping students build confidence in their language learning journey. Outside the classroom, I particularly enjoy exploring Taiwan. Most recently, I welcomed my son, Maverick, in January 2026, who has brought even more joy and inspiration to my life.

There is a Chinese proverb that says, “Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach them how to fish and you feed them for a lifetime.” To me, education is like building a house together. A LITTLE ABOUT ME Originally from the Cayman Islands, I moved to the UK at a young age and grew up in Somerset in the South West of England. I then headed further south to Plymouth to study for a BSc in Strength and Conditioning Coaching. From here I worked with football teams as an S&C coach, before I made the decision to move to Hong Kong. Here I met my wife who is also a teacher, this was one of my inspirations around becoming a teacher in Hong Kong.
WHAT INSPIRES ME AS A TEACHER The things that inspire me the most is firstly seeing the students growth, seeing a student have that moment where their confidence clicks, or they discover that they can do it. Secondly is building that human connection with them, seeing them not only as students but as a whole person and for the older students as young adults, where I can understand them and their stories. Finally a sense of belonging where everyone feels respected and safe to try something.
BEYOND THE CLASSROOM Beyond the classroom, sport has played a significant role in my life and personal development. Over the past 10 years, I have been involved in highperformance rugby environments, both professionally and semiprofessionally. These experiences have taught me valuable lessons in teamwork, resilience, leadership, and perseverance, which I bring into my work with students every day. Sport ultimately brought me to Hong Kong, a move that was made even more meaningful by my father's Hong Kong heritage. One of the proudest moments of my life came when I fulfilled a childhood dream of representing Hong Kong China on the international stage, earning my first cap for Hong Kong China Rugby. It was an unforgettable experience that reinforced the importance of dedication, hard work, and embracing new challenges. If I'm not on the pitch though you can usually find me with my cat at home or going on an adventure with my wife and friends.

I worked with children leaving care for many years until I decided that I fancied a change and moved to Hong Kong. I taught in a language centre for a couple of years and returned to the UK to teach secondary GCSE English Literature and Language. I missed Hong Kong so decided to move out again last year and am very glad that I did!

This included a year abroad in which I studied German Philology at the University of Vienna and discovered the joy of teaching while working part time at a local school. I completed my teacher training at UCL and spent several years teaching in a London grammar before making the move to NAIS HK in 2021. I am a lifelong learner and recently completed my Masters in International Education with Kings College.
Outside of the classroom I can usually be found somewhere on a mountain - either hiking up, sketching the views from the top, or skiing down to get to the next Austrian schnitzel!

My path to the classroom wasn't a straight line—I hold a degree in Multimedia Journalism and spent time in sales and recruitment before discovering that teaching was where I truly belonged. Before moving to Hong Kong, I taught in the UAE for five years, and those experiences shaped the educator I am today.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME I am a Chinese teacher and Head of Chinese with 13 years of teaching experience. Over the past 13 years, I have taught both Chinese and English in a range of international curricula, including IB DP Chinese A and B, A Level Chinese, IGCSE Chinese as a First Language, and KS3 Chinese for first-language, second-language, and foreign-language learners. My professional interests include whole-book reading, project-based learning, and flipped classrooms. I enjoy finding ways to help students become more independent, reflective, and engaged learners.
WHAT INSPIRES ME AS A TEACHER I am inspired by the moment when students begin to see that language is more than vocabulary, grammar, or examination skills. Through reading, writing, discussion, and inquiry, students can discover different perspectives, develop empathy, and form their own voices. I am also inspired by my father, who was an English teacher and later served as the principal of two schools. His dedication to education shaped my understanding of teaching as both a profession and a responsibility. I believe that good teaching can have a lasting influence on how young people see themselves and the world.

I am also a mother, and my child attends kindergarten at NAIS. I value time with my family, including my mother and grandmother in Xi’an and my younger brother, who works as a pilot in Guangzhou. These connections across different places and generations remind me of the importance of stories, language, culture, and belonging. One thing students might not know is that I once led a trilingual Language and Literature department for Chinese, English, and Korean. This experience strengthened my belief that every language offers a different way of thinking, feeling, and connecting with others.

I studied Drama at Stellenbosch and then moved to Cape Town before moving to London; teaching in both comprehensive secondary schools as well as an A Level college. South Africa and the UK are both very much home for me. I have been living in Hong Kong now for two years and this is my second year at Nord Anglia.
I love traveling, spending time with my husband, friends and cats. I am obsessed with running and eating and love to try new restaurants and types of food here in Hong Kong but also while traveling.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME I moved to Hong Kong from the UK in 2023 with my family, and this is our first time living in Asia. As an undergraduate, I studied English and German at Jesus College, Oxford, where I was also organ scholar. After a period of time as a freelance translator and Director of Music in a large Anglican Church in the Cotswolds, I moved into Music and English teaching. I have four children between the ages of 13 and 20.
BEYOND THE CLASSROOM I play the piano, violin and organ and can often be found accompanying other musicians at school, my local church, or playing Classical music for pleasure in quiet corners by myself. I adore hiking, skiing and being out in nature as much as possible, as well as memorising poetry.

Before teaching, I worked as a personal trainer and Sports Development Officer—so I’ve always been passionate about getting people active in a fun, supportive way. I taught PE in the UK for 14 years before moving internationally, and prior to Hong Kong I was Head of PE and Sport in Lusaka, Zambia.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME I have lived and taught across several countries, including China and Australia. I've taught Mathematics across a range of curricula, including VCE, SACE and now IGCSE. I believe maths is a language, and my goal is to help students build real fluency in it, not just pass tests. I care deeply about the habits behind learning: organisation, reflection, and the willingness to sit with something difficult until it makes sense.
