Fairbank Equipment plans significant headquarters expansion
Riverside Cafe owner sells original location
Fairbank Equipment, a Wichita-based distributor of agricultural and propane equipment, is set to undergo a significant expansion. The Wichita City Council has given the green light for the issuance of $7.35 million in industrial revenue bonds and a sales tax exemption to support the construction of Fairbank Equipment's new corporate headquarters in southwest Wichita. The 40,000 square-foot facility, located in the Steeple Bay development at I-235 and Seneca, is expected to be completed in the fall of 2024. The new headquarters will be more than double the size of Fairbank's current offices. The project aims to create local job opportunities, with the company planning to hire five additional employees over the next five years with salaries exceeding $79,000.
After 22 years, Paul Cohlmia has sold the Riverside Cafe restaurant at 739 W. 13th St. in Wichita to Raul and Melissa Velasquez. The Velasquezes had previously purchased another Riverside Cafe from Cohlmia a year ago. They plan to take over the West 13th Street restaurant on January 1. While Cohlmia will no longer own a restaurant in Wichita, he will keep the Derby Riverside Cafe, opened in 2011 at 824 N. Baltimore. Cohlmia plans to rename the Derby location and let the Velasquezes retain the Riverside Cafe name. The new owners don't plan major changes to the 13th Street restaurant, intending to maintain the existing menu and recipes. They do, however, aim to add more parking to the 13th Street location by utilizing an adjacent dirt-covered area.

Knolla’s Pizza preparing to open Old Town location

Westlake Ace Hardware is set to open a new store at the Regency Lakes shopping center in Wichita, Kansas, occupying the former Tuesday Morning space at 21st and Greenwich. The 18,200-square-foot store will become the eighth Westlake Ace location in the greater Wichita area. Work on the Regency Lakes store is scheduled to begin early in the new year, with the opening expected in the summer. Westlake Ace Hardware is known for its diverse range of services and departments, including lawn and garden supplies, electrical and plumbing items, as well as key fob replacements, key cutting, and propane tank exchanges.
