The Brazilian Football School, established in Vietnam in April 2015 is now bringing soccer clinics to the Tay Ho area. The clinic will have an introductionary workshop on the 9th of February where boys and girls from 8 to 14 years old can attend free of charge to experience the activities the program has to offer. It is no accident that Brazil is home to a lot of famous soccer players like Ronaldo, Romario, Ronaldinho Gaucho, Zico, Garrincha... and the greatest of them all, Pele - the highest scoring player in history, with 1279 goals. He was decisive in winning three World Cups for Brazil: in 1958, 1962, and 1970. Ronaldo, nicknamed Fenomeno, also made history in winning the World Cups of 1994 and 2002. In 2002, he scored the two winning goals in the final match. Players like these spent time as any other group of boys and girls playing an informal soccer game, or “pelada” on back streets, city lots, beaches, futsal courts, and grassy fields of Brazil, in which players develop amazing skills admired by millions of people around the world. With Fla Souza and Edu Peixoto leading the clinics, both football professionals from Brazil, the students have an incredible opportunity to learn from the best.

Founded in 1070 by Emperor Ly Thanh Tong, the Temple of Literature is dedicated to Confucius (Khong Tu). Inside you’ll find a pond known as the ‘Well of Heavenly Clarity’, a low-slung pagoda and statues of Confucius and his disciples. A rare example of well-preserved traditional Vietnamese architecture, the complex honors Vietnam’s finest scholars and men of literary accomplishment. It is the site of Vietnam’s first university, established in 1076, when entrance was only granted to those of noble birth.

Fabulous Football

As the football school grew, the realization that there were far too many students desperate to play but without the financial means was a evident. Fla and Edu along with a few Vietnamese coaches help set up clubs to assist these kids voluntarily. They now have just under 100 students on this program with the most amazing results.

Although the Brazilian Football School set out to teach soccer, soon Pauliny, wife of Edu Peixoto realized that there was a desperate need for students to learn English. At first she started an English club in 2014 from her home on Saturday afternoons, she now supports over 150 children in rural areas as well where they have rented a house to support the teaching in the area which now includes adults. Pauliny was ecstatic when she heard one of her first students, Linh (11years), one of only two students selected, was awarded a scholarship based on her English. “This has made it so rewarding “ says Pauliny. With your financial help, the Brazilian Football School will continue to give young students in the Hanoi community an opportunity to play soccer and develop important characteristics that will help them through their young life and beyond. There are several ways to assist. Please contact Pauliny Peixoto or Miriam Souza at bfshanoi@gmail.com or telephonically 0947531578 or tak a look at the website brazilfootball.vn
