MISSION STATEMENT

New Alternatives for Children, Inc. (NAC) was founded on the belief that all children have the right to be nurtured within a safe and permanent family.

NAC’s mission is to provide innovative high quality services in support of birth, foster, and adoptive families caring primarily for medically complex children, which includes children with severe physical disabilities, emotional and behavioral challenges, and developmental disabilities. NAC’s services enable children to remain in or to be returned to their families whenever possible or to be adopted by loving families. Working with children whose birth families live in poverty, NAC’s continuum of services ensures that children’s physical, social, educational, recreational, medical, and mental healthcare needs are met.

By supporting families NAC prevents lengthy stays in foster care, hospitals, or other institutions. NAC builds on family strengths, provides opportunities, and assists all family members in reaching for and achieving their potential.

MESSAGE FROM NAC’S LEADERS

Dear Friends,

We welcome you to New Alternatives for Children’s 44th Annual NAC Kids Can Gala.

For over four decades, NAC has been driven by a shared belief that every child CAN reach their full potential. Tonight, we celebrate and honor the work our community does day in and day out. We celebrate the caring social workers, doctors, nurses, educators, and administrators, and the committed supporters, who go above and beyond to give NAC children the real help and hope they deserve.

At NAC, we strive to help children live safely and permanently in families of their own and set them on a path to a productive life. We have always believed that a child’s place is in their home—not a hospital—and that with the right support and advocacy, every child can achieve what some may have thought impossible. For nearly 45 years, we have witnessed NAC kids graduate from college, get master’s degrees, work, have families, and become advocates for people with disabilities.NAC kids and their families are the proof of our success. We take great pride in our community for uplifting generations of NYC’s most vulnerable children, ensuring they are never alone in the pursuit of their dreams.

None of our accomplishments would be possible without the support of our friends here tonight. We are especially proud to honor two such friends, Peter Orszag and Bianna Golodryga, for their extraordinary commitment and generosity to NAC children. We extend an extra special thank you to our Dinner Chairs Rodgin Cohen, Joel Klein, Nicole Seligman, and Raymond McGuire, for helping to make this evening a spectacular success.

We thank all of you for being a part of our NAC family and for being our children’s champions. NAC Kids CAN, thanks to your support! We hope you enjoy the evening.

With much appreciation,

HONOREE
